Chapter 1
Besker Island - Off the coast of Cinnabar
Team Rocket HQ
Operation Phoenix Flame
Squad Griffin12 - 0900 Hours
“Squadron Griffon 12, do you copy? Over.”
“Yes, Griffon12 here, we copy. Over”
“Griffon 12, this is HQ. Your objectives are to infiltrate Team Rocket HQ on Besker Island. Avoid detection, use tranquilizers and silencers only. Keep as many members of TR sedated. Do not kill unless necessary, I repeat no casualties whatsoever unless necessary. You will be dropped off in the hills west of the first gate separating HQ from the other parts of the island. Once landed, gather group and await further instructions. Do not proceed in the mission without permission. Over.”
“Roger that. Over and out.” The soldier turned off the radio. He rotated his neck and stretched a bit. He looked around at the group of soldiers he was working with. The cargo area of the stealth chopper was almost unbearable cold. Everyone was huddled in a jacket, shivering. Wisps of steam escaped as they breathed.
“Joel, what did command say?” Nemo asked. Nemo was a novice, he’s been in the Kanto Army for less than a year. Joel looked at Nemo and sighed.
“You heard ‘em,” Joel said, probably sounding a bit meaner than he should have sounded. “We are supposed to infiltrate TR HQ. First thing is first, once we land, we maintain radio silence until further instruction is given. We do not do anything without their permission,” Joel said sternly. “That goes for all of you,” he said, louder. “I am the superior officer on this mission. You will follow my orders from command. Once we land, we hide and wait for the confirmation to go. Is that clear?”
“Yes sir!” All the soldiers said at the same time. They lacked the enthusiasm which was normally required, but in these temperatures, all requirements were tossed out the window.
In the distance, an island appeared. Through the rain and wind, the stealth chopper made it. The island was a medium size, filled with pine trees. It appeared like a large chunk of forest floating in the ocean. Joel saw the island and stood up. “Ok, Besker Island is in sight, we will land shortly. Everyone, stand up, get ready, it’s time to rock.”
“Oh dammit. Dammit, dammit, dammit, dammit, DAMMMIT!” Willis shouted. He was huddled in the corner of the chopper, his jacket covering his face. He dared not look out the window, he was scared out of his wits of heights. Willis began to quiver when Joel said to stand up. Slowly, he took a deep breath and began to stand up. Clutching to the metal beams in the chopper, he lifted himself up. With weak legs, he slowly made his way to the door. Joel stood in front of it, barking orders.
“Ok, once we land, I want Team 8 to go out first. Scan the area, then give us the ok to proceed. We will deploy in Teams. Again, this is hostile territory, make sure your weapons are loaded and ready. Team 8, get to the door,” Joel commanded as the chopper began to land. Soon, the door flew open and the members of Team 8 jumped out into the grass. The rain savagely beat down on the bodies of the soldiers. They all plodded through the grass and rain, forming a half circle around the chopper. After a while, one of the members gave a thumbs up. Joel nodded and motion for everyone to jump out. Once it was Willis’ turn, Joel said, “C’mon Ace, you can do this. You’ve handled the whole flight like a pro. Once we get on ground, it’s easy.” Willis nodded and took a deep breath. He jumped off the chopper and landed perfectly. He sighed, he was so glad to be on the ground. Ace looked at the chopper, he saw Evie ready to jump out. It looked like she was arguing with Joel. Joel laughed and patted her rear as she jumped out. Evie landed on her knees in the grass. Ace ran over and helped her up.
“Thanks,” she said, blushing. Ace nodded, and quickly went back to his squad. Evie jogged behind him. “Wait up, I’m in your squad too!” she yelled. Ace slowed down a bit. He waited for her, and they proceeded to their squad group. Joel jumped out of the chopper and announced.
“We have clearance, begin infiltration!”
“Yes sir!”

“Dammit!” Gary yelled as he swerved the Jeep to a halt. “Misty, Hawk, go get the tranquilizers. Ash, hand me that bazooka,” Gary yelled as he began to unbuckle himself. The Jeep rocked as the 4 people moved around looking for various items. Hawk and Misty got the tranquilizers and loaded their rifles. “Ok, aim for that clearing over there!” Gary yelled, pointing. Hawk loaded his rifle and took aim at a red blur in the distance. “Ok, Hawk, Misty, shoot it with tranquilizers. Once it falls, Ash, help me use the bazooka to fire the next. Then, we toss it in the Jeep and go back to Pallet.”
“Sounds good...” Ash muttered. The red blur began to come towards the group at an insane speed. A loud roar emitted from it. The bang of Hawk’s rifle jolted the van. The red blur squealed in pain and slowed down. Hawk reloaded and fired again, the blur began to fall. “Oh man, Gary, it’s a Ho-oh!”
“I know, I know..” Gary squinted through the bazooka’s sight and fired. The net flew out capturing the falling Ho-oh. The phoenix hit the ground with a thump, it was out cold. Gary, Ash, and Hawk lifted it onto the Jeep as Misty tied it in.
The group drove into Prof. Elm’s parking lot a couple hours later. Ash jumped out of the jeep and jogged to the door. He knocked on it, Prof Elm answered. “Elm, we have that Ho-oh that’s been flying around.”
“Great! Bring it in, bring it in!” Elm hurried over to the unconscious bird and helped lift it into the lab.
In the lab, Elm put the unconscious bird in a holding cage. He began to study it and take pictures. “Damn. That was rough,” Gary said as he took of the biking gloves he had on. He stretched out his hand and yawned.
“It was easy,” Ash said.
“Yeah, well, you weren’t the one that had to chase the damn thing down a friggin’ hill,” Gary muttered as he looked in a mirror and began to apply some alcohol to some of his scrapes.
“Well, the good thing is, we did it,” Misty said proudly. She propped her feet on the table.
“Anyone want a drink?” Hawk asked. All of the group agreed. Soon, Hawk came out with several bottles of beer. He handed them out and plopped in a couch, just outside of Elm’s lab room. With a click, Hawk opened the beer and chugged half of it down. He belched in approval and started o doze off. Misty giggled at Hawk, that incident in Mexico had not changed his personality one bit.
“Hey guys, check this out,” Ash said, motioning to the TV.
“Dammit, they took down Saffron?” Gary sighed as he bandged his hand.
“Yeah, TR has been on a steady climb up,” Ash said.
“What are we doing to stop it?”
“Everything, Misty, we sent out or military units and have local militia attempting to stop them, but it is no use,” Ash took another swig of beer and turned the volume louder. A knock sounded off at the door.
“I’ll get it,” Misty said as she stood up to get to the door.
Misty opened the door to a tall stranger wearing a long black cloak, with a hood. “May I help you?” Misty inquired.
“Yes, is this the residence of Ash Ketchum, and Gary Oak?” The stranger’s deep voice asked.
“No, it is not, however, Ash and Gary are here.”
“May I speak with them?”
“Umm, sure, come in,” Misty hesitated. The stranger walked in with an almost cat-like walk. “Ash, Gary, someone is here to see you,” Misty announced. Gary and Ash welcomed the stranger as he walked into the room where they were in.
“Have a seat,” Gary said, motioning to a chair.
“No, thank you, I’ll stand.”
“Ok, that works...” Misty stood behind the couch Hawk was dozing on and prodded Hawk. Hawk jolted up and looked around. He yawned and watched the stranger intently.
“Ash Ketchum, Gary Oak. I am here in the reason that I heard of you two’s encounter in Mexico. I know all of you,” the stranger motioned to the group. “Have been in this encounter. However, I am here to make a proposal.”

Damien Trinidad stood in one of the corridors of Team Rocket HQ on Besker Island. He straightened his coat and his hair. He looked in a piece of glass which lay on the floor. He brushed off some dust from the emblem of TR which was stitched onto his shirt. It was a fist holding a an arrow, with a rocket in the background. It signified TR’s universal reign, using force. Damien rocked back and forth unpatiently, he was supposed to meet Skyler several minutes ago. Just as soon as he thought of Skyler, he appeared in front of Damien. Skyler smiled, “Sorry I was late. Some trouble came up.”
“It’s ok. Do you have the data?”
“Yes, this is the disc containing all of the files that we used to create them.”
“Excellent, maybe with this we can finally stop them.”
“Hopefully, however I am not guaranteeing this cloning machine will work.”
“If it does, we can beat back the KMU and bring them to a standstill. That is all that is standing between us and domination.”
“Have you cleared this with Gabriel?”
“Of course not.”
“What!? If you fail, you can be killed.”
“Yet, if I succeed I will be promoted, I will be a legend.”
“You are mad.”
“Power cannot be achieved through peace. You must use force. You may call me mad, but you call me mad through the insanity of your perception!”
“Damien! Give me back the disc, I will have no part in... ugh!” A spike ran through Skyler’s chest and lifted him off the ground. Damien gasped and ran the other way. He sprinted through the hall, towards the elevator. He ran in it as soon as a green blur zoomed towards him. The blur screeched as the elevator pulled up, to the ground floor.
Damien burst through the double doors into Gabriel’s chambers. Two Rocket Grunts attempted to block him, but Damien was in such a frenzy that he plowed through them. Gabriel looked up from his meal, he apparently, was eating dinner. “Umm, may I help you?”
“Gabriel, I am Damien Trinidad, just transferred from Ecruteak.”
“Speak freely,” Gabriel said, wiping his mouth with a cloth napkin. Damien relaxed and began to speak.
“I was meeting with Professor Skyler, of level 4 labs. During our conversation, he was attacked and killed by something.” Gabriel turned pale. he dropped his napkin and stood up to go up to Damien. “I could not get a good look at the creature, however, it was greenish in color and screeched. What I thought was strange, was that its screech sounded almost human..”
“Can you show me where you saw it?” Gabriel asked sternly.
“Yes sir, but I believe it is too dangerous...”
“Enough, just take me, I can handle myself.” Gabriel hobbled to his desk and took a shotgun. It was specially designed to be used with one hand. You fired it, then spin the muzzle to load it again. It could hold around twenty shots in it, so it had to be refilled every now and then. Damien reluctantly led the TR leader to the elevator. Two Grunts followed behind them, in case things got out of hand. Once the elevator door opened, the group walked in.
“It was down on the basement level.”
“Why were you down there?” Gabriel asked suspiciously.
“We did not want to attract attention.” Gabriel looked at the young man, still not believing him. The elevator lowered and stopped at the basement floor. The group walked out as Damien jogged ahead, showing where he was. Damien stopped at a place around 200 feet from the elevator. He showed what happened, trying to bring it into perspective. Something caught Damien’s eye, a glint appeared in the wall. He walked closer, and saw a pair of dog tags. The dog tags were attached to a man’s body. It was Skyler. He had a hole in his chest and was nailed to the wall. On the ceiling, above his body, these words were written:
THUS, THE CREATION MIRRORS ITS CREATOR.
