Quest for the Crystal
Chapter 7
Closing Time
“The rage in my eyes
Could have compared to the eye of a sun
Then rain
Took it's course through the hands of the Son
Repent for all time
The world is at war leaving all fault behind
So Is this the end for us my friend?
The stains in the sky
Are there to remind us of man and his fight
When two worlds collide
One steals the life like a thief in the night
So look to the sky
He hold the keys for your life and mine
Well as though we rise
As the day breaks the dawn
And as the moon hides the sun
Oh, the sun
No more sorrow
All those crying days are gone
No more sorrow, now it's gone
Now it's gone
So Is this the end for us my friend?”
Creed - Is This the End?
The two warriors ran at each other, weapons drawn. The lust for blood in one’s eyes and the lust for vengeance in the others. Tears blinded the young man, a million thoughts went through his mind. He saw his life flash before his eyes. He felt the impact of the sword on his, he was doing things sub-consciously. He felt as if this were but a dream. He wished it was, he could end this now. He could drop his sword, with luck the blow would be fast and painless. But no, she was watching, he couldn’t let her down, let his brother down. He couldn’t fail. He blocked the blow from Entei, his slashes came harder and faster. Scy retaliated with his own blows, one, two, three. It was a rhythm. A dance, the dance of warriors. Their music, the weapons. Cling, one two, cling, one two, block. “You are no amateur Scy,” Entei bellowed, “You know what you do, yet you are still a rookie. I can see it in your eyes, you feel as if this were a dream. You feel that you are going to wake up at any moment.” Entei lunged and gashes Scy’s back. Scy screamed in pain. “You feel the pain. You love the pain. The pain is good. Blood, watch your blood spill. Gawk at it, you won’t feel anything. Pain is like a drug, battle is like a drug. We do this to ignore the world. To want to make everything go away. I will end your suffering Scy, just put your sword down.”
Scy was kneeling. He looked at the ground. He searched for something to use. He looked at his sword, a grin appeared on his face. Scy set the sword down. “I knew you would give up you pathetic fool,” Entei laughed. He raised his sword above his head. Then, with a quick movement Scy feinted left and grabbed a handful of dirt. He rolled to the right and threw it into Entei’s eyes. Entei roared in frustration and anger. In the chaos, Entei managed to kick Scy’s sword across the room. Entei dropped his sword also. When his eyes cleared up, Entei spotted Scy trying to get the sword. Entei teleported next to Scy and punched him square in the jaw. Scy collapsed on the floor moaning in pain. Entei kicked him in the side. Entei lifted Scy off the ground by his shirt and dragged him to the pool of water. “Ever wonder what it feels like to be thrown in a pool filled with dead souls? You’ll die instantly!” Entei laughed. Scy opened his eyes in horror. Entei lifted Scy and held him dangling over the pool. Scy kicked Entei in the gut and managed to scramble on land. Scy saw his chance, he lifted a bone off the ground and crashed it right into Entei’s back. Entei roared as he fell into the pool. Horrifying screams filled the cave. Scy ran across the small bridge scrambling to free his brother and friend. “Hurry, let’s get out of here!” Blast managed to stand up and walk. Venus, however had a sprained, possibly broken, leg. Scy told her to get on his back. The three ran ahead, the pool beginning to smoke, a fire erupted from the center. A black shadow formed in the pool. it started to consume everything that it touched. “SCY! BLAST! VENUS! HURRY! GET OVER HERE! THERE’S A WAY OUT!” Kaz yelled down the entrance to the cave. The shadow was quickly gaining ground, Scy and Blast were running as fast as they could. Venus was unconscious from the pain. The flight uphill seemed endless, the shadow nipping at their heels. The group burst out of the cave, temporarily stunned by the light. A huge sphere of white light was in front of them. Lugia, Celebi, Golem, and Artricuno were beating off the flock of demons. “Hurry get in the sphere!” Golem yelled. Blast jumped in the sphere with the rest of the group, Scy gently placed Venus inside. He drew his sword and joined the gods and leaders. The demons stopped and ran away. The shadow came out of the cave. Articuno pushed the other people inside the sphere. It was him and Entei. “Entei! Go back into the abyss you came from!” Articuno boomed. A voice that sounded like the hissing of steam replied, “You think I can be destroyed? I will go into the mortal world and conquer! You cannot stop me!” Articuno took the crystal from Scy. Articuno broke a shard of crystal off, he placed it in a slot in his arrow. He Took Sui’s bow and loaded the arrow. “I cannot defeat you. I admit that.” Articuno said, Entei hissed laughing,. Articuno then said, “Even to this moment it amazes me how you defeated Tyranitar. Since I cannot defeat you, I will cast you back into the abyss that you came from!” At that statement Entei realized something. The only reason that he was able to achieve this power was through the crystal. He stole a shard of it from Scy’s father. Only that could kill him. The shard, its tip gleamed in the red light. Suddenly Entei realized how thick and humid the air around him was. Articuno cocked the arrow and fired. The arrow flew towards Entei, a friend beckoning him to rest forever. A sharp pain hit Entei in the forehead. The pain felt like a long string of burning hot barb wire was enveloping him. He hissed in pain. Articuno was shocked, he thought that the Crystal would only send him away, not totally destroy him! Articuno hurried into the sphere as hell was destroyed around them.
The birds chirped, the sounds of the wilderness woke Scy up. He was lying down on the ground. A huge, beautiful forest surrounded him. The light from the sun gently beat down on him. The aroma of tree sap and flowers rushed him. A butterfly flew and landed on his arm. After sitting there for a while it flew away. Scy sat up and looked around. Venus was lying next to him. He heard voices, apparently Venus heard them too. She woke up groggily. “Uhh, good morning.” Scy said Venus looked around. “Where are we?” Venus asked. “I don’t know. Looks like we are alone.” A small buzz emitted from one of Venus’ pockets. She took out a small seashell, the one that Lugia gave her. She placed it in her hand. A small screen came on. Lugia was standing in the Castle of the Crystal. He smiled, “Good morning! You like the spot? We figured that you two needed some private time.” Venus blushed while Scy scowled, “Who’s we?” Blast stepped shyly from the side of the screen smiling and scratching his head in nervousness. “It was just a thought. Unless you guys don’t want some private time...” Scy took away the scowl and laughed, “Finally you’ve done something right.”
“Very funny Scy.”
“Well, I’ll just let you two have your privacy.” Lugia turned off the screen. Scy and Venus laughed. Not a forced laugh, but a real laugh. It has been a long time since they had a reason to laugh. There were no more crying days. They were gone with all the evil. There was no more sorrow. This was the end. The end for evil, and the beginning for new life.
