Eccentrics drew UK Wrecking Crew
("Neocon" opening.)
David: Ladies and gentlemen, we are coming to you from Ft. Wayne, Indiana, as MECCA rolls on with Go Time! I'm David Mills, along with Dick Broccoli, and what a night Liberty or Death was on Saturday. We saw the man who will get his shot at the MECCA Title on August 26, Bryan Danielson, force the MECCA Champion Eddie Crowe to tap out in that dream partner match.
Dick: Also, Ronin Fox and Cynric and Gail Kim won title shots in their respective divisions. But tonight, we'll have a triangle tag match as the Eccentrics take on the Killer Kanines and Stage One!
David: Also, the UK Wrecking Crew return here to Go Time as they team with their old friend Kevin Stone to take on the Concession Dream Team and Joey Sprinklers. Plus much more action on this edition of Go Time!
("The Final Countdown" hits and Bryan Danielson makes his way to the ring.)
David: Here comes the number one contender for the MECCA Championship, Bryan Danielson. He and Stone made a successful pairing at Liberty or Death, with the win over Eddie Crowe and Low Ki.
Dick: Now it appears as if he has something to say about it.
(Danielson gets a mic.)
Danielson: Yeah, yeah, I hear your boos. I also heard them on Saturday, and last week, and last month, and no matter how hard you voice your displeasure, I'm not going anywhere. You see, over a year ago I left this company because I felt I wasn't performing up to my standards. When I came back, I was and still am the best wrestler in the world! And I proved that on my first night, by getting on the Contender Star in my very first match back. But it didn't stop there, as I won a guaranteed title shot by winning the Six Man Apocalypse, beating out each and every one of your favorites. So I have my match set for Summertime Showdown: it's the American Dragon vs. Eddie Crowe. But really, you should know by now that this is a foregone conclusion. I'm sorry if I'm giving away any "spoilers" and it doesn't mean you shouldn't buy the pay-per-view. Because it will be a match for the ages. But in the end, Eddie, as you found out at Liberty or Death, you are just not in the same league as Bryan Danielson. And I know I panicked you. You can feel your title reign slipping between your fingers, because it was back to the drawing board for you, wasn't it? You didn't even bother to show up tonight. Our own champion, playing hooky. But where the actual champion can't perform, let's have the next champion step up to the plate and deliver for all you fans out there. I want an opponent tonight, I want the main event slot tonight, because I want each and every one of you to see how it's going to be for as long as I'm on top. And that's going to...
("Burning Times" hits and the Pyro Twins come down to the ring.)
David: Uh oh... the Pyro Twins couldn't sit in the back and listen to Danielson run down Eddie Crowe any longer.
Dick: Danielson may be the best in the world, but he's face to face with the best tag team in the world right now.
(Jay gets a mic.)
Jay: We've got to hand it to you, Danielson. You have a high opinion of yourself, and unlike a lot of others, that high opinion is well earned. But you are not the World Champion yet... okay, okay, so you're the World Champion elsewhere... but not here. And what matters in MECCA is only what actually happens in MECCA. And what's going to happen tonight is you'll be in the main event. But you'll need an opponent. And one of us would be more than happy to kick your ass right in this ring!
Danielson: Okay, that's fine. You think I'm scared of the mighty Pyro Twins? Which one of you is it going to be, huh? Which one?
(Dusty taps Jay on the shoulder.)
Dusty: If it's all right with you, I really want to teach this guy a lesson. Let it be me.
Danielson: Oh, you want to face me, Schneble? That's fine, why don't you come get...
(Danielson suddenly slaps Dusty with the microphone. Dusty lunges at him, and Danielson backs up into the ropes. Dusty wails on him with forearms, but officials come down and break them up.)
David: It looks like we're getting Dusty Schneble and Bryan Danielson in the main event, and things are heated already!
Dick: With the Pyro Twins here, though, expect something to explode.
David: We'll be right back with our first match of the night, a triangle tag bout!
(Commercial Break)
(In the arena, "Kobrakai" hits and the Killer Kanines make their way to the ring.)
David: We're back, with three teams looking to position themselves for a shot at the tag titles.
Dick: Anubis and the Wild Wolf are a formidable team, and for two guys who have been in the business such a short time, they look ready to break out at any moment.
("Still More Fighting" hits and Stage One make their way to the ring, along with David Caldwell.)
David: Stage One came close to dethroning the Pyro Twins at Liberty or Death in a competitive match, but now they've been knocked down a peg. A win here could really help them get a rematch for those belts.
Dick: Caldwell was pissed that his team lost, but he looks poised tonight. I'd expect him to pull out all the stops to ensure his team brings home the victory.
("Pajamarama" hits and Huh makes his way to the ring, looking over his shoulder for Cheesecake. Huh calls for him, but there's still no Cheesecake by the time he gets to the ring.)
David: Well, I don't know where Cheesecake is, but it looks like Huh plans to go at it alone.
Dick: I know the term suicidal usually describes a high flyer, but is Huh crazy? He's in for the thrashing of his life without a partner to back him up.
(FINISH: Huh gets taken out early by Anubis, being rammed into the guardrail and then gets buried under a stack of tables under the ring. Later, Anubis and Saito brawl into the crowd, leaving the Wild Wolf and Jamie Chan. Chan goes up top for a moonsault, but Wolf catches him with a dropkick. He hits the Twig Snap and covers, but Chan gets a foot over the bottom rope. He tries a vertical suplex, but Chan escapes and hits a release German. He goes up top and tries a corkscrew press, but Wolf moves. Chan rolls over to the other side of the ring, and Huh crawls in out of nowhere and covers Chan for a surprise three count.)
Winners: The Eccentrics
David: Huh did it, even without his partner! I think the participants in the ring forgot about him entirely!
Dick: Chan did not expect to have another man on top of him after Anubis and Saito brawled their way out of here. What a fluke, but this actually puts the Eccentrics in contention for the tag titles!
(Backstage, Bill Bicknell is standing by with Ronin Fox and Cynric.)
Bill: Fox, Cynric, last week I talked to you, and what you said came through. You beat the CDT at Liberty or Death, and now you have your shot at the Pyro Twins' tag team belts.
Fox: Just like usual, Bill, MECCA tries to keep us down, they try to hold us back, but we've made a living of breaking out. The CDT were but one small step toward those tag team titles, and Pyro Twins, I cannot wait to avenge our loss from Midsummer Night Slam and win our first title here in MECCA.
Cynric: We're so far above the other teams here it's not even funny. Jay, Dusty, you may call yourselves twins, but you're not true brothers. We are. The best brother team in the history of wrestling, and that might seem like boasting for two guys yet to win the titles, but we can see the future every time we look at our reflection in those belts. We're coming for gold, and nothing is going to stop us.
(Commercial Break)
(In the arena, "Sold Me" hits and LuFisto makes her way to the ring.)
David: We're back on Go Time, and here comes the MECCA Ladies' Champion, who finally managed to defeat Lisa Letty this past Saturday in Dayton.
Dick: Both ladies parted on good terms, but now LuFisto has Gail Kim to contend with, as a result of the Triangle Match at Liberty or Death.
("My Friend of Misery" hits and Misery comes out onto the stage. She gets a mic.)
David: Misery managed to defeat LuFisto by DQ last week, and it looks like she has something to say before these two get it on again.
Misery: LuFisto, you and I met last week, and look at the end result... my hand was raised high, and the so-called Ladies' Champion had to slink away in defeat! Well, now we have a rematch, but you forgot to add that clause that stated that this was a Ladies' Title Match. I've earned it, and I want it! Give it to me!
(LuFisto gets a mic.)
LuFisto: Misery, you're correct, you did beat me last week, but it was a cheap DQ victory. But you have a point, I was the loser in that match, and I'm supposed to be the Ladies' Champion. But I'll tell you what... just so we don't have that happen again, and this time screw you out of the title as a result, why don't we make this match hardcore rules? I'm always ready for a fight!
(Misery nods and throws down her mic and charges the ring.)
Dick: It looks like this is going to be a hardcore match now, and for the Ladies' Title! Misery vs. The First Lady of Hardcore!
(FINISH: Misery lays a chair in the middle of the ring, and tries to DDT LuFisto onto it. LuFisto counters with a northern lights suplex for two. Misery kicks out and beats LuFisto to her feet, hitting her with a clothesline. She props the chair in the corner and whips LuFisto toward it. LuFisto stops herself, and Misery charges. LuFisto grabs the chair and throws it at Misery, hitting her in the head. Misery goes to her knees, and LuFisto drags a table to the center of the ring. She smashes it down across Misery, causing her head to break the table and emerge from the other side. LuFisto throws the table aside and Misery collapses. LuFisto covers for the three count.)
Winner: LuFisto
David: LuFisto is successful after nearly putting the table through Misery!
Dick: An impressive defense for LuFisto, but somehow I doubt Gail Kim is dumb enough to play into the hardcore game again.
David: We'll be back on Go Time, as the Eccentric Alliance will be in action!
(Commercial Break)
(Backstage, Alan Mayse is standing next to David Caldwell.)
Alan: All right, Caldwell, I think I can fit you into my busy schedule. Everything's all set for tonight, but this week on Rundown, you send one of your Stage One guys, and I'll give him a title shot.
Caldwell: You'd better be prepared, Mayse, because that title's coming into my camp, the David Caldwell Project camp. As far as I'm concerned, that title's merely on a holding period.
(Caldwell walks away.)
Alan: Sorry, words don't count until the deed is done.
(He starts to leave, but Kevin Stone comes out of an adjacent room.)
Stone: Wait a second, Alan.
Alan: What's up, Kevin?
Stone: You and I have known each other a long time, but since we've been in this business, we've gone our separate ways. Well, I'm coming down your path, and it's not to be a friend or a partner. I'm coming after what you got. Sooner or later, you and I are going to hook it up with that belt on the line. Remember, I've beaten you in a title match before. History is about to repeat itself.
(Stone leaves.)
Alan: Yeah, well history can be an unreliable narrator! (looks at the camera) What you've seen here is the work of a champion. No champion in MECCA handles the kind of schedule I do. As Toughman Champion, I accept the challenge of anyone who wants a shot at the belt. There's no hierarchy or ladder to climb to prove yourself worthy of a shot. That makes me, Alan Mayse, the toughest man in MECCA... and the world.
(In the arena, "Cool" hits and Delirious and the Human Tornado make their way to the ring.)
David: Everyone seems like they want a piece of Alan Mayse, but here come two guys looking to make a mark in the tag team division. Usually all those Eccentrics travel around together, but ever since Cheesecake's had this attitude change and Huh's lost interest, without, er... leadership... the Eccentric Alliance seems to be going their own ways.
Dick: Delirious and the Tornado seem to be of the mind if you can't cut it in singles, try a tag team.
("Soul Creation" hits and Ronin Fox and Cynric make their way to the ring.)
David: Fox and Cynric won their match with the CDT at Liberty or Death, and now will get their rematch at the tag titles after coming so close back in June.
Dick: They put the Pyro Twins on notice earlier, but now Delirious and the Tornado will attempt to avenge the loss their teammates suffered. A win here could mean big things down the line.
(FINISH: Cynric puts Delirious on his shoulders and Fox goes up for the Dead End. However, the Human Tornado pushes Fox to the floor, and Delirious rolls through with a victory roll for a two count. Delirious hits Cynric with BAM! and then gets on his back and sticks his knees up. Tornado gives Cynric a backdrop driver, flipping Cynric over onto Delirious's knees. Delirious covers, but Fox runs in and breaks up the pin attempt. Tornado hits him with forearms and whips him into the ropes, but Fox reverses and Cynric pulls down the top rope, dumping Tornado to the outside. Fox kicks Delirious and throws him to Cynric, who lifts him for the Shock Cannon. Fox springboards backwards off the second rope, and they give him a spike Shock Cannon. Cynric covers and gets the three count.)
Winners: Ronin Fox and Cynric
David: The brothers Fox and Cynric pick up another victory over the Eccentric Alliance, and they appear to be even more focused now that a title shot is in their grasp.
Dick: Fox and Cynric continue to impress, and if anyone is capable of ending the Pyro Twins' title reign, it's them.
David: Speaking of the Pyro Twins, still to come Dusty Schneble takes on Bryan Danielson. But up next, we have some six man tag action for you!
(Commercial Break)
(In the office, Katie Piehl is rubbing her forehead when there's a knock at the door.)
Katie: Come in.
(Nykk enters.)
Nykk: What's up, Katie?
Katie: Nykk... listen, we have something to talk about.
Nykk: Well, make it quick. I don't have a match tonight, and I want to get out of here because Lisa knows this place downtown, and it's supposed to...
Katie: That's just it. Nykk, I know you seem to have found a good thing with Lisa, and I'm happy for you, I really am. You two more than just about anybody have made MECCA what it is in terms of your respective divisions. But Nykk, do you remember the talk we had when we decided to become fifty-fifty partners in this? You told me how elsewhere, there were problems with nepotism. How people who have married into the boss's family have managed to bring promotions to ruin? We said we couldn't have that here, remember?
Nykk: I remember, but...
Katie: Do you remember the policy you instituted? Nykk, you are still part owner of this company, and though that doesn't give you booking power, it does mean that you cannot be impartial when becoming involved in the careers of your romantic interests. We already saw an example of it. You making Lisa guest referee this past Saturday... she's never reffed before! I truly wish you both happiness, and I hate to have to be the one to tell you this... but the board of directors has spoken. Nykk, if you continue to date Lisa, you are breaking that policy, and you could lose your ownership of MECCA! I'm sorry.
Nykk: What? My involvement with Lisa has nothing to do with how I do business or how I compete in the ring. She is an active competitor here, she has no backstage power...
Katie: I know your intentions are true, but for how long will that last? If we let this go, then what kind of message does that send to the boys?
Nykk: I see.
Katie: You have a decision to make, Nykk. You can either resign as owner and sell your shares, or you can end your relations with Lisa and continue as you always have. I'm really sorry.
Nykk: I... guess I do have a decision to make. It's certainly not fair to everyone else who works here, but...
Katie: What will you do?
Nykk: I don't know. I don't know.
(Nykk exits.)
(In the arena, "La Macarena" hits and the Concession Dream Team and Joey Sprinklers make their way to the ring.)
David: It's time for our six-man tag, as I guess Joey Sprinklers is Eccentric-for-a-night, but what about the bombshell that was just dropped on Nykk? He has to either stop dating Lisa Letty or resign as owner of MECCA!
Dick: I wonder if that's why it's taken Nykk so long to get with Lisa. I thought he was just stupid!
("At the End of the Rainbow" hits and Kevin Stone and the UK Wrecking Crew make their way to the ring.)
David: The UK Wrecking Crew are making their return to Go Time after laying low since returning in the Six Man Apocalypse back in June. It's almost as if the loss of their titles and undefeated streak at the MECCA Challenge II has sent them into kind of a slump.
Dick: I wouldn't call it a slump, as they're doing just fine, but they definitely need a big win to get back in the hunt for the tag titles.
(FINISH: The UK Wrecking Crew hit the Wrecking Ball on Dreamo, but Joey Sprinklers splashes Nathans off the top to break up the cover. Fletcher dropkicks Joey through the ropes, but then gets hit with a running neckbreaker from Concession Boy. Stone gets in the ring, and CB and Dreamo go to work on him. However, Nathans pulls Dreamo under the bottom rope, but CB continues to wail away on Stone. He jumps to the second rope and vaults back at him, but Stone catches him with the Stone Crusher. He covers and gets the three count.)
Winners: Kevin Stone and the UK Wrecking Crew
David: Stone and the UKWC pick up the win, and Stone was not putting up with any nonsense in this match. He wants Alan Mayse's Toughman Title.
Dick: What a hard-hitting match that will be, and it will be interesting to see if Nathans and Fletcher can use this win to springboard their confidence and get back to the level they're capable of being at.
David: When we return, it's our main event. The challenge was issued earlier, and we'll have one half of the MECCA Tag Team Champions Dusty Schneble taking on the American Dragon Bryan Danielson!
(Commercial Break)
(Backstage, Nykk has his bag over his shoulder and is heading toward the exit when Trent Acid crosses his path.)
Acid: Hey, Nykk! I just heard the good word. So I guess this means that you and Lisa are done, kaput, no more. But don't worry. I will be there day... and night... to console her in her time of need, and you...
(Nykk simply walks away without saying anything.)
Acid: Yeah, that's right. Walk away.
(In the arena, "Burning Times" hits and Dusty Schneble makes his way to the ring.)
David: What nerve on the part of Trent Acid, saying something like that to Nykk just moments after he's informed of the biggest decision of his life. I really hope Nykk pounds him into the mat the next time they meet. But back to matters at hand, it's time for the main event, and here comes one half of the tag champs.
Dick: Dusty wanted at Danielson earlier after the things he was saying about Eddie Crowe, and Danielson happily accepted the match, but not before riling Dusty up.
("The Final Countdown" hits and Bryan Danielson makes his way to the ring.)
David: The American Dragon calls himself the best wrestler in the world, and if not, he's certainly right up there with the best. He did beat our MECCA Champion at Liberty or Death, no one can take that away from him, but he has to wait until August 26 to get a shot at the belt.
Dick: What a match that's likely to be, and I can't wait to see what Eddie does when he does return here to Go Time.
(FINISH: Danielson goes for Cattle Mutilation, but Dusty manages to push him off into the ropes. He hits the Rope Burn I and covers, but Danielson gets a foot on the ropes. Dusty is enraged, and takes the padding off the second turnbuckle. He tries to ram Danielson into it, but Danielson grabs the ropes. Dusty kicks him and Danielson goes down. Dusty tries to pull him off the ropes, but Danielson clings, and the ref makes Dusty let up. Danielson pulls a chain out of his pocket and gets up. He takes a swing at Dusty, but he ducks and Danielson throws it to referee Keith Young. As Dusty tells Young to get rid of that thing or hand it over, Danielson dropkicks Dusty from behind, who goes sailing into the exposed turnbuckle shoulder first. Danielson applies the Crossface Chickenwing, and drops down for the body scissors. Dusty fights to get to the ropes, but eventually has to tap out.)
Winner: Bryan Danielson
David: Dusty almost managed to upset the American Dragon, but in the end Danielson picked up the win, and now has important momentum going into his match with Eddie.
Dick: Dusty let his temper get the better of him, and Danielson was able to use that to his advantage to score the win, as I don't think there would have been any other way to get Dusty to tap out.
David: We'll see you next week on Go Time, fans, and maybe we'll have more word on Nykk's situation. Good night!
