Go Time: 6/21/05

Cleveland, OH

("Neocon" opening.)

David: We are less than one week away from Midsummer Night Slam, on June 25 from Chicago Ridge, Illinois. But tonight, we are here in Cleveland, Ohio, for MECCA Go Time! I'm David Mills, along with Dick Broccoli.

Dick: And quite a main event tonight, as Nykk will take on Jay Crowe of the Pyro Twins!

David: In addition to that, Shadow, who will challenge for the Ladies' Title at Midsummer Night Slam, takes on LuFisto. Get ready for the hard-hitting MECCA action you can only find here!

("Smoke on the Water" hits and Kevin Stone makes his way to the ring.)

David: We're starting things off with a handicap match. Kevin Stone has a tag title shot waiting for him at Midsummer Night Slam if he can find a partner, but so far, no luck.

Dick: I think he's crazy to come out here against the UK Wrecking Crew, but he says he wants a little preview so he can prepare for Saturday.

("Ironman" hits and the UK Wrecking Crew makes their way to the ring.)

David: Andy Nathans and Jack Fletcher have not been beaten in a tag team match since their debut here in MECCA.

Dick: It's paid off in tag team gold, but how embarrassing would it be for them if they got beat for the first time in a handicap match?

(FINISH: Kevin hits Nathans with a Stone Cutter, but Fletcher runs in with one of the tag belts. Kevin kicks him and takes it away, but referee David Bowers prevents him from using it. As he gets rid of the belt, Fletcher nails Kevin from behind with the other one. Kevin staggers into an inside cradle from Nathans, who gets the three count.)

Winners: The UK Wrecking Crew

David: The UKWC triumphs, but if Kevin can find a partner, we could have new tag team champs come this Saturday.

(Nathans gets a mic as Fletcher stomps on Kevin.)

Nathans: Kevin Stone... it looks like you still haven't found a partner, old chap. But don't worry; even if you had one, we'd still beat you at Midsummer Night Slam, because we've beaten everyone else MECCA has put in front of us, including the Pyro Twins! I think we're going to save you the trip to Chicago. You can thank us later.

(They hit Kevin with the Wrecking Ball, but immediately afterward, Alan Mayse runs out. He hits Nathans with a springboard dropkick, and hits Fletcher with an exploder suplex as Kevin gets to his feet. Alan picks up Nathans and gives him a Tiger Bomb at the same time Kevin gives him a neckbreaker. Alan picks up the mic as the UKWC retreats.)

Alan: Kevin... you've come a long way in this business over the last year. So I've heard that you need a partner to take on those two goofs for the belts. Well... there may have been a time when I didn't want anything to do with you, but now I say we go to Chicago, win those belts, and show those Brits that if they haven't learned by now, you shouldn't underestimate the Americans! What do you say... partner?

(He extends his hand and Kevin shakes it as "Seven Nation Army" plays.)

David: It looks like Kevin did find a partner, and he couldn't have picked a better one than Alan Mayse.

Dick: These two go way back, and this means the tag title situation has just gotten a whole lot more interesting.

David: Up next, LuFisto from the Dangerous Liaison takes on Shadow. Don't miss it!

(Commercial Break)

(Backstage, the Pyro Twins and Eddie Crowe arrive at the Eccentric Alliance dressing room.)

Eddie: I don't care how many of them are in there. It's time we took these idiots out!

Dusty: Let's just be careful, all right? Huh and Cheesecake are tougher than they look. Believe me, we know.

Eddie: You saw what they did to me last week. They need to be taught a lesson. Jay, since you have a match tonight, go in behind us and back us up.

Jay: You got it.

(They open the dressing room door and rush in, attacking Huh, who's sitting on a bench. Cheesecake comes at them from one of the lockers, but Eddie knees him and sends him face first into his locker. The Pyro Twins whip Huh into the wall and start stomping him. Eddie sandwiches Cheesecake's head between the locker door and the locker. The SELF members then leave without saying anything else.)

(In the arena, "Fell in Love with a Girl" hits and LuFisto makes her way to the ring, along with Gail Kim.)

David: What the hell was that? Eddie Crowe and the Pyro Twins with a completely unprovoked attack on the Eccentrics.

Dick: Unprovoked? Did you see them cheat last week to take down Eddie in that six-man?

David: Cheesecake will take on Eddie Crowe at Midsummer Night Slam, but right now the ladies are ready to go at it.

Dick: LuFisto wanted this match, since she feels a Dangerous Liaison member should be getting the title shot against Lisa Letty this Saturday.

("Faint" hits and Shadow makes her way to the ring.)

David: The challenger for the Ladies' Title is most certainly ready, but she'll have to get past LuFisto and Gail Kim on the outside.

Dick: Shadow's hungry. She really wants this, but I have to question her acceptance of this challenge from a dangerous opponent like LuFisto.

(FINISH: Shadow sets up for the Interceptor, but Gail holds onto her leg. As Shadow tries to shake her off, LuFisto hits her with a clothesline. She gives Shadow a vertical suplex and then goes for the LuFisto Launcher. Shadow escapes and hits a DDT. Gail gets on the apron to distract referee Rya Zay, and LuFisto rakes Shadow's eyes. Gail sticks her foot on the top rope and LuFisto tries to ram Shadow's head into it. Shadow reverses and sends LuFisto into Gail's boot. Shadow dropkicks Gail off the apron and then hits LuFisto with the Interceptor, covering for the pin.)

Winner: Shadow

David: Decisive victory for Shadow, after the attempted interference from Gail Kim.

Dick: Shadow has some momentum going into this Saturday, and I can't wait to see her match against Lisa.

(Gail gets back in the ring as LuFisto gets up. Shadow stops celebrating when she realizes she's in a two on one situation. Before they can do anything to her, Lisa Letty runs down and slides into the ring. She spins LuFisto around and hammers her with rights, as Shadow and Gail go at it. Lisa whips LuFisto into the ropes and gives her a back body drop. Shadow spins Gail with a hard right, and Lisa takes off her title belt and hits Gail in the face with it. The Dangerous Liaison retreats up the aisle while Shadow and Lisa hug.)

David: Thank goodness for the Ladies' Champion. She came down to help her friend Shadow.

Dick: She should have just let the Dangerous Liaison have their way with her. Then Shadow would have been easy pickings for Midsummer Night Slam.

David: Lisa's too honorable for that. She wants this contest just as much as Shadow.

("Edge of Seventeen" plays as Lisa and Shadow exit.)

David: We'll be back after this commercial break with more great action!

(Commercial Break)

(Backstage, Bill Bicknell is standing by with Shadow and Lisa Letty.)

Bill: Ladies, this Saturday you will meet to decide the MECCA Ladies' Champion at Midsummer Night Slam. But as we saw out there tonight, it appears that you two are going into this match as friends.

Lisa: Make no mistake about it, Bill, I know that Shadow will be my opponent this Saturday. When that bell rings, I'll treat her no differently than anyone else and do what I need to do to retain my title. But Shadow, thank you for tonight. The Dangerous Liaison is getting too powerful in the ladies' division, and that's a power they cannot have at any cost.

Shadow: You're welcome, Lisa, and you're right. The Dangerous Liaison is getting powerful. It's up to the true women competitors in MECCA to stand up to them and do what's right. You already got off to a great start by recognizing that all three of them have had their chances at gold, and it was time to give a well-deserved shot to one of your friends. Good luck on Saturday, Lisa... because I'm doing all I can to bring that gold home with me. If the Dangerous Liaison gets involved... we'll just deal with that appropriately.

Bill: There you have it, two spirited ladies making a statement heading into Midsummer Night Slam from Chicago Ridge.

(Backstage, Jay Crowe is standing around with Eddie Crowe and Dusty Schneble.)

Eddie: Come on, Jay, you can do it. No one knows Nykk better than you or Dusty. Beating him tonight means a spot on the Contender Star.

Jay: Yeah, but would Punk ever grant me a title shot?

Eddie: This isn't about our own personal gain, brother. This is about the greater good. Controlling the championship and the Contender Star means controlling MECCA. Go out there and do it for SELF.

(Jay looks uncertainly at Eddie and then leaves. Dusty taps Eddie on the shoulder.)

Dusty: Think we should go out there with him?

Eddie: Punk told us to stay here, so that's exactly what we're going to do.

(Suddenly, Delirious and Spanky attack Eddie and Dusty from behind. Delirious rams Dusty's head into a wall and then throws him over a concession table. Spanky trades rights with Eddie and then knees him in the midsection. Delirious jumps off the table and hits Eddie with Shadows over Hell on the concrete.)

Spanky: All right! That was for Huh and Cheesecake!

Delirious: Bah!

(They run off as Eddie and Dusty attempt to get up.)

(In the arena, "Burning Times" hits and Jay Crowe makes his way to the ring.)

David: Payback's a bitch for SELF. Dusty and Eddie just got taken out by Reckless Abandon!

Dick: This rivalry is heating up between SELF and the Eccentric Alliance. You can tell it won't be long until full-scale gang warfare breaks out.

David: Jay is going to go at it alone against Nykk. He's a very capable singles competitor, though he doesn't get to showcase it much.

("Destroy" hits and Nykk makes his way to the ring.)

David: This is the last SELF member that Nykk has not gotten one on one. He's been in the ring with Punk, Eddie and Dusty, but never Jay.

Dick: Nykk's still feeling the betrayal of the Pyro Twins from a few months ago, so you know he'd love to get his hands on Jay, but he'd better be thinking about Low Ki this Saturday.

(FINISH: Nykk hits Jay with Howling Moon II, but Jay rolls out of the ring. Nykk goes out after him and whips him into the ring steps. He charges, but Jay kicks him in the midsection. He rams Nykk's head in the apron and then goes for the Overhaul on the floor. Nykk manages to escape and waistlocks Jay, German suplexing him into the barricade. As he tries to get back in the ring, however, someone reaches out from underneath and grabs his foot. Nykk misses the ref's count, and the bell rings.)

Winner: Double Count-out

David: The bell has rung, and it looks like both men were counted out. But who's that pulling Nykk's foot?

(Nykk goes under the apron and pulls out Low Ki. They trade right hands on the floor as referee David Bowers tries to get between them.)

Dick: It's Low Ki! He and Nykk are going at it!

David: Low Ki obviously couldn't wait until this Saturday.

(More refs and officials come down as Nykk and Low Ki grapple in the aisle. They finally succeed in dragging Low Ki to the back. Nykk gets a mic and slides in the ring.)

Nykk: Low Ki... you're not doing this again. This Saturday, we meet one on one. No sneak attacks, and no hiding. You will fall like the rest to my Cedarleaf, and you will tap out like the little bitch that you are. And Jay... you took me to my limit tonight, and bottom line is, I couldn't beat you. Some other time. And you tell Punk that I haven't forgotten about him.

("Destroy" plays as Nykk poses for the fans.)

David: Nykk with some words for his opponent this Saturday and a warning to C.M. Punk, who will be here when we return.

(Commercial Break)

(In the arena, the camera focuses on David Mills and Dick Broccoli.)

David: A wild night here on Go Time, the last show before Midsummer Night Slam, this Saturday, June 25, from the Frontier Fieldhouse in Chicago Ridge, Illinois, live on pay-per-view. As we just saw, Nykk and Low Ki have an issue to settle and they'll settle it this Saturday when they meet one on one.

Dick: But that's not all, as Lisa Letty will defend her Ladies' Championship against her good friend Shadow, but they both better beware of the Dangerous Liaison.

David: And Kevin Stone has found a partner in Alan Mayse, and they receive their title shot against the UK Wrecking Crew of Andy Nathans and Jack Fletcher.

Dick: And from SELF, Eddie Crowe will take on Cheesecake, from the Eccentric Alliance! But that's not all, as we were just informed during the break that the two factions will battle again, as Reckless Abandon takes on the Pyro Twins.

David: And in the main event, Cynric challenges for the MECCA Championship against C.M. Punk. Be sure to join us this Saturday night!

("Miseria Cantare" hits and C.M. Punk makes his way to the ring.)

David: Here come the MECCA Champion right now. Where was he when his crew was getting ambushed by Spanky and Delirious?

Dick: A champion's time is precious, David. If he knew the Eccentric Alliance was going to retaliate, he'd obviously get out of dodge to protect himself and his championship status.

(Punk gets a mic.)

Punk: A lot of things seem to be coming together in MECCA, recently. We've established a Contender Star, the hierarchy is in place, and look who sits at the top of it all, with this... the MECCA Heavyweight Championship. This Saturday, I continue my ascension to the top of this business as I defend against Cynric, a mainstay here in MECCA, and a mainstay elsewhere. And the keyword there, Cynric, is mainstay. A mainstay is someone who sticks around in a promotion long after he's worn out his welcome, and long after he's abandoned all hope of ever achieving success. Cynric, you're nothing but a transitional challenger. This Saturday, I beat you, no problem. I'm on to more interesting things, and you're back to wrestling in the midcard or trying tag teams that won't work. You are weak, Cynric. You don't have the will to win that I do, or the confidence to state the obvious, what so many people try to deny: I'm straight edge, and that means I'm better than you. This Saturday, I'm going to...

("Soul Creation" hits and Cynric makes his way to the ring.)

David: Cynric has heard enough, and I can't blame him for coming out here.

Dick: C.M. Punk stated nothing but the truth. Cynric can deny it all he wants.

David: And C.M. Punk can't fly in the face of precedence that so many others who were told they could never do it and did, like Mick Foley or Mikey Whipwreck.

(Cynric gets a mic.)

Cynric: You know, I'm sitting in the back watching my Best of C.M. Punk DVD... yeah, Punk, I know how to prepare for a big match just as well as you do... and I notice that you're out here spouting off again. You call me a mainstay and say that I'll never achieve success, Punk, but you could have said this to me in private. At least then the only person you'd be trying to convince is yourself. But you have to come out here and try to convince all these fans against something they already know. I wrestle for them. And this Saturday, I wrestle for the MECCA Championship for them. All I need this Saturday is three things: my body, my mind and these fans. Punk, you bring every SELF member if you want, bring your dirty tricks, bring whatever you need... just make sure to bring that belt. This Saturday, Cynric silences all the doubters and finally catches that dream.

Punk: All right... no need to continue, Cynric. Well said, I must say. You are right... you have the heart to be in this business and to be in a position to wrestle for a major title. I have to say I respect you for coming out here and arguing your case. But I promise you, just when you think you have me, I'll pull out something new that you won't ever expect. That's why I'm better than you. But for this Saturday... good luck. You're going to need a lot of it, but good luck.

(He extends his hand. Cynric looks a little wary but finally shakes it. Punk tries to pull him in for a short arm clothesline, but Cynric ducks under it and nails Punk with a spin kick.)

David: Punk just tried to cheapshot and paid for it! Cynric is ready!

(Punk charges Cynric, but Cynric unleashes a flurry of strikes and kicks. He bounces off the ropes and nails Punk with a rolling koppo kick. Punk rolls out of the ring, and Cynric picks up the MECCA belt.)

David: Cynric just sent the MECCA Champion packing, and he could be officially holding that title after Midsummer Night Slam.

Dick: Give that back, Cynric. You have no right to it!

(Punk yells at Cynric from the aisle, and Cynric drops the title at Punk's feet as "Soul Creation" plays.)

David: Cynric is going to Chicago Ridge with one thing in mind, and that's becoming the second MECCA Champion. We'll see you on June 25, everybody. For Dick Broccoli, I'm David Mills. Good night!
