Summertime Showdown: 8/30/08

Las Vegas, NV

Countdown Match: Ashley Lane vs. Sara Del Rey
Referee: Rya Zeh

(FINISH: Ashley goes for the Ashfall, but Sara blocks it with an elbow. Ashley brushes aside her big boot and kicks Sara in the midsection and then hits a Yakuza Kick. She covers for a two count. She goes to the top rope, but misses the flying bodypress. Sara hits a German suplex with a bridge for two, and then gets her in the Royal Butterfly. She takes her over with the powerslam and covers for the three count.)

Winner: Sara Del Rey

(Opening.)

David: Welcome fans, as MECCA debuts right here in Las Vegas, Nevada! I'm David Mills, along with Dick Broccoli, and finally tonight Anubis will collide with the number one contender to the MECCA Championship, Austin Lee!

Dick: The rest of MECCA's titles will be on the line as well, as Nykk and Ronin Fox challenge the Briscoes for the tag titles.

David: Plus it's Alan Mayse's last chance at the Toughman Title, as he takes on Delirious in a Submission Match.

Dick: And Naomi Leach defends the Ladies' Title against Kelly Schweickart and much more tonight at Summertime Showdown.

(The Captain Epsilon theme with a summoning intro hits, and Captain Epsilon, Robbie, Omar and Cubby make their way to the ring, accompanied by Stephie.)

David: We're kicking things off with a huge eight-man tag, as Epsilon Epsilon Epsilon, minus Gary and Ryan who will be in the TLC Match later, make their way to the ring.

Dick: EEE could really show their dominance in the tag team division tonight if they win this match and then win a shot at the tag titles later.

("Noots" hits and Eddie Crowe, Huh, the Wild Wolf and Tristan Lee make their way to the ring.)

David: All of the enemies EEE has made over the last couple of months have come together to try and take them down a peg, and Huh especially, who has been trying to go at it alone with EEE to mixed results.

Dick: Huh, Lee and Wolf had agreed to fight the rest of EEE, the loophole being that they forgot about Captain Epsilon, making this a handicap match. However, Eddie Crowe, who has been having his own problems with Robbie, has stepped up to even the odds.

Eddie Crowe, Huh, Tristan Lee and the Wild Wolf vs. Robbie, Omar, Cubby and Captain Epsilon
Referee: Mike Neff

(FINISH: Eddie hits a running brainbuster on Omar, but gets taken down with a spinning heel kick from Epsilon. He falls victim to a standing avalanche to Huh, sending him to the floor. Wolf then tries a pescado, but Epsilon catches him. Lee does a pescado of his own onto both of them, finally taking Epsilon down. Robbie and Cubby whip Huh into the ropes, but he ducks a double clothesline and Eddie hits a double clothesline from behind, allowing Huh to take down Robbie with a butt bump and Eddie gives Cubby a back suplex. Omar comes off the top rope with a hurricanrana on Huh, but Eddie kicks Omar in the face and hits the Backslide Bomb. He gives him the Gutwrench Driver and covers for the three count.)

Winners: Eddie Crowe, Huh, Tristan Lee and the Wild Wolf

David: Eddie's team wins it, and maybe this will shut EEE up for a while.

Dick: I wouldn't count on it, but you know that these four will be willing to step up again and shut EEE down anytime.

David: Up next we end a feud that has been raging since the MECCA Challenge IV. Jamie Chan has continued to get cheap wins over Bryan Danielson, and it's gotten to the point where they were fighting outside the building and accidentally striking fans, causing them to be suspended for the PPV last month. Now they will settle this issue in a Falls Count Anywhere Match.

("On the Speedway" hits and Jamie Chan makes his way to the ring.)

David: Jamie Chan has been mocking Danielson for months, saying he's really the best in the world due to all the wins he's been getting over the American Dragon in matches like the Battlebrawl and the Eight-Man Throwdown.

Dick: You can see that he's sans Prince Nana tonight. Nana doesn't want to be anywhere near the line of fire in this one.

("The Final Countdown" hits and Bryan Danielson makes his way to the ring.)

David: Bryan Danielson has been incensed that Chan would mock his legacy. Danielson is a former World Champion here in MECCA, and he wants to prove that he still has it in him to be champion again.

Dick: But first he has to get this monkey off his back and get that elusive decisive win over Jamie Chan.

Falls Count Anywhere Match: Bryan Danielson vs. Jamie Chan
Referee: Keith Young

(FINISH: The two brawl out into the crowd, through a casino and into the streets of Las Vegas before bringing it back inside the arena. Danielson whips Chan into the barricade, taking it down, and then sets up a table at ringside. He tries to give Chan a Regalplex off the apron, but Chan fights out. He hits Danielson with rights, and he drops to the floor. Chan comes off the apron with double knees to the face, and puts Danielson through the table. He crawls over and covers, but only gets a two count. Chan gets the downed barricade and slides it into the ring. He puts Danielson's leg through it and tries to utilize the Chan Lock, but Danielson kicks away at Chan's head. Chan knees him in the face and then tries to whip him into the ropes. Danielson pulls him back in and hits the Regalplex, but Chan kicks out at two. Danielson segues into lethal elbows, but Chan gets to his feet. He tries a roundhouse kick, but Danielson ducks and hits an enzugiri to the arm. Danielson gives him an armbar slam onto the barricade and then turns it over on top of Chan. He pulls Chan's arms through the barricade and applies Cattle Mutilation. Chan can't take the pain and taps out.)

Winner: Bryan Danielson

David: They were all over the building, but it ended right here in the middle of the ring, as Bryan Danielson has finally gotten that decisive win over Jamie Chan!

Dick: What a fight it was, and I don't know if Danielson is the best wrestler in the world, but he was certainly the better man tonight.

David: Up next is our Ladies' Title match. It was in June that Kelly Schweickart returned, supposedly to help Naomi Leach battle the House of Lords. But she turned on her at Punked Out and revealed that all she was after was the Ladies' Title. Now Naomi finally gets her hands on her, but we know that Kelly's new associate Sara Del Rey is lurking somewhere.

("You Can't Do That to Me" hits and Kelly Schweickart makes her way to the ring.)

David: Kelly has been on a roll since coming back, and managed to win a Four Corners Match last month at Liberty or Death that earned her this shot.

Dick: She was upset about how she was treated by the fans after she went down due to injury, and she plans on taking it out on the Ladies' Champion.

("Fall Behind Me" hits and Naomi Leach makes her way to the ring.)

David: It was a long road to the Ladies' Title for Naomi Leach, and she's not about to let go of that belt so easily.

Dick: She's angry about Kelly betraying her, but she has a new betrayal to deal with now in Sara Del Rey, who could decide to get involved in this match.

MECCA Ladies' Championship: Naomi Leach vs. Kelly Schweickart
Referee: Nikki Alvarado

(FINISH: Naomi hits the NL Special, but Sara Del Rey makes her way to ringside and gets on the apron to distract the ref. Naomi makes the cover, but there's no count. She gets in Sara's face as Kelly goes into her kneepad and pulls out a chain. She wraps it around her fist and clocks Naomi with it. She sticks the chain back in her kneepad and covers as the ref turns around and makes the three count.)

David: I don't believe it, Kelly has just stolen the Ladies' Title!

Dick: Naomi just got played big time by the tandem of Del Rey and Schweickart, and we have a new Ladies' Champion.

(As Kelly celebrates with the belt, Naomi tells the ref to check Kelly's kneepad. Alvarado obliges and finds the chain. She tells Del Rey to get out of the ring, takes the belt from Kelly, and calls for the match to restart.)

David: Naomi has new life, as this match will continue thanks to the shenanigans of Kelly Schweickart and Sara Del Rey!

(Kelly gets Naomi in a rear naked choke and tries to throw her over her body into the Choke Collar, but Naomi lands on her feet. She whips Kelly into the corner, but it's reversed. Kelly goes for a hurricanrana, but Naomi pulls her back up and hits a powerbomb. She covers with a folding press and puts her feet on the ropes to get the three count.)

Winner: Naomi Leach

David: Naomi Leach just won the match, and I guess she felt that turn about was fair play. She just outcheated Kelly to win this match!

Dick: That chain seriously pissed off Naomi, and she decided that all bets were off.

(Kelly tells the ref what happened, but she can't prove anything, since Naomi didn't use a physical object.)

David: Naomi is still the Ladies' Champion, but I doubt this is over between those two. Up next, a shot at the tag titles for At Your Own Risk is at stake. In their short time here in MECCA, the Irish Airborne has made enemies out of EEE, the House of Lords and the Consulate as a result of their sense of justice. Now all four of these teams will settle it in a TLC Match, a first here in MECCA.

(Officials bring some tables, ladders and chairs out as "Pump It Up" hits and Ryan and Gary make their way to the ring, and a briefcase with a match contract in it is suspended above the ring.)

David: Ryan and Gary will comprise the Epsilon Epsilon Epsilon contingent in this match, and these two certainly do make an impressive team.

Dick: We'll see if they have what it takes to earn a title shot.

("Drugs" hits and the Necro Butcher and Yoshiaki Yago make their way to the ring.)

David: Once again, Prince Nana is nowhere to be found as his guys take part in a very dangerous match.

Dick: I guess he felt he was putting himself in harm's way a bit too much after those matches with the Briscoes a month back.

("Burning Times" hits and the Pyro Twins make their way to the ring.)

David: Jay and Dusty would love to have another shot at the Briscoes, and they can get it if they win here tonight. Of course, if Fox and Nykk win the titles later on, they could be facing their own stable mates at At Your Own Risk.

Dick: I think their desire for being on top of the tag team scene supersedes their loyalty to Nykk.

("The Walking Dead" hits and the Irish Airborne make their way to the ring.)

David: Jake and Dave Crist, the Irish Airborne, have basically made all these enemies by stopping them from committing heinous acts like attacking opponents after their matches are over or playing the numbers game.

Dick: That could come back to bite them, but they've been on a roll so far and are definitely deserving of a title shot.

(The other three teams converge on the Crists as the match begins and they start fighting it out.)

TLC Match: Irish Airborne vs. The Pyro Twins vs. Necro Butcher and Yoshiaki Yago vs. Ryan and Gary
Referee: David Bowers

(FINISH: Dusty climbs the ladder to attempt to retrieve the briefcase, but Jake Crist tips the ladder over and Dusty falls off and through a table at ringside. Necro comes in with a chair and clocks Jake with it, and then slams him on top of it. He goes for a senton, but Jake moves out of the way and Necro hits the chair. Dave comes in with a chair of his own and wings it at Yago, knocking him down. Jay comes in with another ladder and throws it at the Irish Airborne. They catch it, and Gary tries to springboard in with a bodypress to take them down, but Irish Airborne knock him out of the air with the ladder. They take out Jay with the ladder and then throw it into the crotch of Necro, who is sitting in the corner. Jake places a chair over Necro's head, but Ryan comes in with a clothesline that takes them both out of the ring. Dave climbs an adjacent corner and walks the top rope, coming down and dropkicking the chair into Necro's face. However, Yago nails Dave with a roundhouse kick to the head to knock him out. He then charges Gary, who sidesteps him and throws Yago through a table in the corner. Gary tries to scale the ladder, and Jay comes in and tries to scale the other side. Jake comes back into the ring and tips the ladder over. Jay falls out of the ring, but Gary lands on his feet on the top rope and moonsaults back onto Dusty, who had gotten back up. Jake hits the Suicide on Gary, but Cubby suddenly runs out and gets into the ring. Jake gets distracted by Ryan, allowing Cubby to hit a low blow. They throw him out of the ring and then they get on each other's shoulders for the World's Most Giant Wrestler as other EEE members hold back the Pyro Twins. Instead of going for the move, they walk to the middle of the ring and Gary takes down the briefcase.)

Winners: Ryan and Gary

David: I don't believe it! EEE has run interference, and as a result, Ryan and Gary will be getting a tag title shot!

Dick: What a brutal match, but Epsilon Epsilon Epsilon managed to survive and didn't even need a ladder to get that briefcase.

David: While we get the ring cleaned up, I'll remind all of you that MECCA returns to pay-per-view on Saturday, September 27, as we present At Your Own Risk from Detroit, Michigan. Tickets are on sale now, and we hope all of you who can't join us in Detroit will do so on PPV. Up next is Alan Mayse's last chance against Delirious as he puts the Toughman Title on the line in a Submission Match. Let's take a look at the feud so far.

(Clips play of the Alan Mayse/Delirious feud.)

(In the arena, "This is Not My Life" hits and Alan Mayse makes his way to the ring.)

David: Alan Mayse feels cheated that his Last Man Standing Match ended so controversially, and he has vowed to end the career of Delirious here tonight by breaking his ankle into a million pieces.

Dick: Alan has been looking for that win over Delirious ever since he lost the Toughman Title to him, and it hasn't come yet. He'll be willing to do anything to get the victory in his last opportunity.

("Hybrid Stigmata" hits and Delirious makes his way to the ring.)

David: Delirious has been fighting Alan off all summer, and now it comes to a head.

Dick: Delirious has a few submissions of his own, and he's gotten by Mayse so far. Will he beat Alan for a fourth time here tonight?

Submission Match for the MECCA Toughman Championship: Delirious vs. Alan Mayse
Referee: Mike Neff

(FINISH: Delirious goes for Shadows Over Hell, but Alan drops down and gets his knees up. He tries to pick the ankle, but Delirious counters right into the Cobra Stretch. Alan almost taps out, but is able to reach over and rake the eyes to make Delirious let go. They get to their feet and trade right hands. Alan gets the better of it and whips Delirious into the ropes. He elevates him for a flapjack, but Delirious escapes and hits the cobra clutch backbreaker over the knee. He goes for the Chemical Imbalance #2, but Alan rolls through with a victory roll. Delirious is first to his feet and tries to punt Alan in the face, but he grabs the ankle and brings Delirious down, locking in the Anklebreaker. When Delirious tries to fight it, Alan really cinches in the hold and Delirious taps out. Alan won't let go of the hold, and the ref has to pry him off.)

Winner: Alan Mayse

David: Alan Mayse has finally regained the Toughman Title, after chasing Delirious for months. It was that deadly Anklebreaker that did it for him, and Alan lived up to his word.

Dick: No one can stand up to that hold, and now Alan has avenged the embarrassment he felt when Delirious beat him in his very first title defense for the Toughman Title back in June.

(Officials come out to help Delirious from the ring as Alan disappears behind the curtain with the belt.)

David: As we get some help for Delirious, we remind you that MECCA returns to pay-per-view on September 27, when we will be in Detroit, Michigan, for At Your Own Risk. Tickets are on sale now, and we look forward to all of you who can't join us in the Motor City to check us out on pay-per-view.

("Third Reich from the Sun" hits and Nykk and Ronin Fox make their way to the ring.)

David: Look at how cocky these two are after laying out the Briscoes on Go Time. The Briscoes are known for their barroom brawling style, and Nykk and Fox took it to them, but it was a low blow that turned the tide in that fight. As far as I'm concerned, they only proved that they can fight dirty.

Dick: Fighting dirty has worked well for them in the ring as well, and it could result in new tag team champions being crowned here tonight.

("Gimme Back My Bullets" hits and the Briscoes rush the ring, taking it to Nykk and Fox.)

David: So much for introductions. It's on right now in Sin City, tag titles on the line!

MECCA Tag Team Championship: The Briscoes vs. Nykk and Ronin Fox
Referee: Keith Young

(FINISH: Jay gets the hot tag and sends Fox down with a clothesline and then charges over to knock Nykk off the apron. He gives Fox a half nelson suplex and bounces off the ropes for a big boot, but Fox ducks and grabs a waistlock. Jay breaks his grip and hits Fox with a standing enzugiri. Nykk tries to come in, but Jay ducks a clothesline and Mark nails him with a forearm from the outside. Jay whips Nykk into the opposite corner and Mark comes in and hits a running clothesline and then throws him at Jay, who comes off the second rope with a flying kick. Jay lifts Fox onto his shoulders for the Springboard Doomsday Device, but Fox fights his way out of it and pushes Jay into the corner as Nykk hits Mark with a running forearm, staggering him on the apron. Nykk crouches in front of Jay and Fox leaps off Nykk's back into a seated senton on Jay. Nykk pushes Fox backward so that he hurricanranas Jay, who staggers to his feet in the middle of the ring to get hit with a simultaneous Roaring Hammers to the chest and back from Nykk and Fox. However, Mark springboards in and takes them both down with a double dropkick. He gives Nykk an ace crusher and then lifts Fox for the Cutthroat Driver. Fox hits him with rights and then headscissors Jay when he gets too close. He takes them both down with a modified headlock/headscissors combo, and the Briscoes roll to the outside. This time Fox crouches down and Nykk vaults off his back to stand on the top rope and then sits down, using momentum to springboard into a double clothesline on the Briscoes. Nykk gets to his feet and brings Jay back into the ring, where he and Fox hit him with right hands. Jay fires back with punches of his own and bounces off the ropes, but Nykk intercepts him with a running back elbow. Fox gets on the apron and Nykk lifts Jay for the elevated Tail End, but Mark gets on the top rope. As Fox springboards in, Mark leaps in and intercepts him in midair with a shoulder tackle. Jay slides down Nykk and rolls him up with a sunset flip, but Nykk rolls through and goes for the Cedarleaf. He manages to turn Jay over, but Mark breaks it up with a big boot. He forearms Nykk and whips him into the corner. He charges, but Nykk moves out of the way and hits a charging European uppercut. He signals to Fox for the End, and puts Mark on the top rope. He goes up for the wheelbarrow powerbomb, but Jay starts fighting with Fox. Fox spins around on Jay and tries a tiger buster, but Jay rolls through with a victory roll, sending Fox into the corner and forcing him to headbutt his own partner low. Jay puts Nykk on his shoulders and Mark hits a Doomsday Device. Nykk lands hard on the mat, and appears to be out. Fox hits Jay with a running dropkick, and Mark then goes for another ace crusher. Fox brushes him off and hits an enzugiri. He bounces off the ropes and tries the Tail End, but Mark slips out and Fox lands on his feet. Mark quickly lifts him for the Cutthroat Driver, and Jay goes to the top rope. They hit the Cutthroat Driver/guillotine legdrop combo and Jay covers Fox for the three count.)

Winners: The Briscoes

David: The Briscoes have once again retained the MECCA Tag Team Championship after a very hard fought contest against Nykk and Fox!

Dick: What a match that was, David, and Nykk and Fox have nothing to be ashamed of with that loss. The Briscoes have overcome many challenges and perhaps this was their toughest right here tonight.

David: The House of Lords will have to wait for another night to wrest gold away from... wait a minute...

(As the Briscoes and Nykk and Fox exit the arena, Katie Piehl and Shadow come barreling out of the locker room. Katie is pummeling Shadow with right hands and Shadow is desperately trying to escape her. She tries to go over the guardrail, but Katie drags her back by the hair and rams her headfirst into the barricade. Shadow crawls toward the ring with Katie kicking her in the midsection and then gets on the apron. Katie gets up with her, but Shadow rakes the eyes. She tries to step into the ring, but Katie kicks the middle rope right between Shadow's legs. She falls to the mat in pain.)

David: I guess this non-sanctioned fight is starting already. This has been building up for years, and now this rivalry is coming to a head. There's no bosses or employees in this fight, just two women who hate each other's guts!

(The fight rages on, but eventually Shadow gains control. She sends Katie down with some well placed kicks and then goes outside and grabs a chair. She motions to the back and Lisa Letty makes her way to ringside. She stomps on Katie while Shadow brings the chair down on her back. They double team her some more and then Shadow puts the chair on the mat. Katie grabs it and manages to smash it into Lisa's ribs before Shadow hits her with an Interceptor. Lisa picks Katie up for a back suplex, but Katie escapes and counters into a picture perfect stunner. Lisa goes down, and Shadow moves in, but Katie gives her a drop toehold, causing her to headbutt Lisa right in the ribs. Lisa rolls out of the ring in pain as Shadow and Katie get to their feet. Katie grabs the chair and nails Shadow in the knee with it. She goes down and Katie wails away on her with the chair. She tells Shadow to get up and takes a swing, but Shadow rolls and hits another Interceptor, knocking the chair into Katie's face. Shadow says she's going to finish it and places the chair on Katie's head. She goes to the top rope and tries a double stomp, but Katie moves and Shadow comes right down on the chair, slipping and falling to the mat. Katie gets the chair and nails Shadow over the head with it. Shadow is still on her feet so Katie nails her again. Shadow staggers, but still doesn't go down. Katie beats the chair on the mat in frustration and hits her so hard that this time the back of the chair flies off. Shadow goes down, unconscious and Katie stands over her holding the chair up as "I've Go the Power" plays.)

David: This fight is over, and the MECCA owner Katie Piehl is standing tall. She took everything Shadow had, including the interference of Lisa Letty, and even though this is unofficial and has no technical winner, Katie is holding her head high.

Dick: As far as I'm concerned, the winner is the one who can walk out of here. Shadow has to have at least one concussion from those shots.

(Officials come out to help Shadow and Lisa Letty to the back as Katie celebrates some more.)

David: It's now time for our main event. The World Title is on the line as Austin Lee gets the shot he earned by winning Eight-Man Throwdown two months ago. He started off as cordial with Anubis, but things quickly deteriorated between these two and they are coming into this with a lot of bitter feelings.

("The Way I Am" hits and Austin Lee makes his way to the ring.)

David: Austin Lee is a former RCW Champion, but he has never held gold here in MECCA. As far as he's concerned, it's now time that he fulfills his potential and claims a spot at the top of the company.

Dick: He certainly has the credentials, but he is up against the most dominating MECCA Champion in history.

("Kobrakai" hits and Anubis makes his way to the ring.)

David: Anubis showed his frustration with this whole situation on Go Time, going at it with Austin after their tag match and even shoving down his own partner, the Wild Wolf.

Dick: Anubis is becoming increasingly paranoid as everyone guns for his title and he believes that he can't afford to have friends or partners anymore.

Jared: Ladies and gentlemen, this is your main event of Summertime Showdown! The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the MECCA World Championship! Introducing first, the challenger... from London, England, and weighing in at 245 lbs... Austiiiiin Leeeeee! His opponent... from Cairo, Egypt, by way of Detroitm, Michigan... weighing in at 315 lbs... he is the current reigning and defending MECCA World Heavyweight Champion... Anuuuubiiiiis!

MECCA World Championship: Anubis vs. Austin Lee
Referee: David Bowers

(FINISH: Anubis tries to springboard in with a shoulderblock, but Austin moves and kicks him in the face on his way in. He bounces off the ropes to stagger Anubis with another flying kick, and then goes for the Rerun Neckbreaker. Anubis escapes and goes for a backdrop driver, but Austin escapes that and hits a hangman's neckbreaker. He goes for the Degenerate Driver, but Anubis drops to one knee and hits the backdrop driver. He locks in the Pyramid Lock, but Austin won't tap out. Anubis yells at him to tap, but after a full minute in the hold Austin gets a foot across the bottom rope. Anubis releases the hold and pounds on the mat. He kicks Austin in the face as he's trying to get up in the ropes and the ref holds him back, but Anubis shoves him aside and starts hitting Austin with closed lefts and rights. Austin staggers, almost knocked out and Anubis knees him in the face. He whips Austin into the corner and charges, but Austin gets a boot up. He bulldogs Anubis and covers for a two count. Austin lifts Anubis and tries a tombstone, but Anubis reverses and gives Austin the Sarcophagus. He quickly covers, but Austin barely gets a shoulder up at two. Livid, Anubis gets on top of him and pushes his knees up into the armpits so that Austin can't cover up and unleashes closed fist after closed fist into his face. The ref tries to pull Anubis off and gets shoved aside again. Austin manages to turn over, but Anubis grabs a front facelock and drives knees into his head. He puts him in the Pyramid Lock again, and Austin feebly tries to make it to the ropes. Eventually, he passes out and the ref drops his hand three times and calls for the bell.)

Winner: Anubis

David: Anubis wins a very hard fought title defense, as Austin Lee just would not die. His frustration was visible there. He had to throw everything he had at Austin to put him away.

Dick: He had to take some shortcuts as well, and the fans are letting him know what they think of this new attitude displayed by the World Champion.

(As Anubis celebrates, Austin gets to his feet. Though barely conscious, he offers his hand to Anubis. Anubis looks as if he's about to take it, but then clocks him in the face with a hard left. Austin goes down and Anubis gives him one more kick before leaving the ring with the belt.)

David: Oh, come on! There was no need for that at all. Anubis just beat the guy to a pulp, and he was still going to recognize that Anubis was the better man tonight.

Dick: This goes beyond simple frustration or paranoia. That was a calculated move by the World Champion, but only he knows how to best defend his belt.

David: I'm sorry we have to end on that note, fans, but we're out of time. We'll see you this Wednesday on Go Time, as well as September 27 for At Your Own Risk.
