Melee: 3/22/08

Atlanta, GA

Countdown Match: Alan Mayse vs. Gary
Referee: David Bowers

(FINISH: Alan goes for the Tiger Bomb, but Gary counters with a hurricanrana. He hits a double knee attack off the ropes and covers for a two count. He goes to the top rope, but Alan runs up the ropes and gives him a dragon screw from the top. He locks in the Anklebraker, and Gary immediately taps.)

Winner: Alan Mayse

(Opening.)

David: MECCA is live on pay-per-view from Atlanta, Georgia, and thank you for joining us for Melee! I'm David Mills, along with Dick Broccoli, and tonight Nykk will put the World Title on the line against the Toughman Champion Eddie Crowe!

Dick: What a chance for Eddie to get payback on the man who cost him his thirteen month title reign almost a year ago by taking the title back from him. In addition to that, the Briscoes will defend the tag titles against the former champions Delirious and Matt Sydal.

David: All that and more right here tonight, including a special Tag Team Gauntlet that will start right now!

("Dead is the New Alive" hits and Bloodlust make their way to the ring, along with Medea Knight.)

David: Bloodlust are the new team here in MECCA, and they got the lowest draw in this match.

Dick: They have their work cut out for them, especially considering their opponents.

("Kobrakai" hits and the Killer Kanines make their way to the ring.)

David: Anubis will be going to the MECCA Challenge IV to challenge for the World Title, but he and the Wild Wolf wanted to go for the tag titles one more time, and they'll get the opportunity if they win this gauntlet.

Dick: Former two-time tag champs, these guys have just about done it all here in MECCA.

Tag Team Gauntlet: The Killer Kanines vs. Bloodlust
Referee: Keith Young

(FINISH: The Kanines make short work of Bloodlust and hit the Dog Catcher, with Anubis getting the pin.)

Winners: The Killer Kanines

("Pump It Up" hits and Robbie and Ryan make their way to the ring, along with Gary, Cubby and Omar.)

David: EEE will be represented by Ryan and Robbie the two co-founders and this Epsilon Epsilon Epsilon thing has been interesting to say the least.

Dick: They've got EEE in full force with them, even the limping Gary, so let's see if that helps them any.

Tag Team Gauntlet: The Killer Kanines vs. EEE Alpha

(FINISH: Ryan and Robbie give Wolf a double spinebuster, and then try to do the same to Anubis. He escapes and gives them a double flapjack, right down onto the boots of Wolf. Anubis gives Ryan a kneelift, and he and Wolf hit the brainbuster/big boot combo on Robbie. Anubis gives Ryan the Sarcophagus and covers for the three count.)

Winners: The Killer Kanines

("Lava" hits and the Surgeons run down to the ring. The two teams attack each other before the bell can even ring.)

David: It's on now, and these two teams definitely have history! The Surgeons have to do something to stop the Kanines, because they are on a roll!

Tag Team Gauntlet: The Killer Kanines vs. The Surgeons

(FINISH: Anubis goes for the Ankh Smash on Stryker, but he ducks and the momentum sends Anubis into the ropes, where Walters pulls down the top rope and Anubis goes over to the outside, getting his arms stuck in between the top and middle rope. Wolf hits a gourdbuster on Stryker, but Walters comes up from behind and lifts him in a reverse fireman's carry. He drops him down chest first on Stryker's knees and then Stryker puts him on his shoulders and the Surgeons hit the Human Error. Stryker covers and gets the three count.)

Winners: The Surgeons

("The Final Countdown" hits and Kevin Stone and Bryan Danielson make their way to the ring.)

David: Bad luck for the Killer Kanines, as their hot streak in this match has come to an end, and here comes the team of Stone and Danielson, who have had their fair share of success in the past.

Dick: They would love nothing more than to be MECCA Tag Team Champions, a title that these two former World Champions have never held.

Tag Team Gauntlet: Kevin Stone and Bryan Danielson vs. The Surgeons

(FINISH: The Surgeons go for the Human Error on Danielson, but as Walters jumps, Danielson rolls Stryker up with a victory roll for two. He feeds Stryker back to his feet and directly into a big boot from Stone. Walters goes for a flying headscissors on Danielson, but he feeds him right into the elevated Stone Cutter. Stone covers for the three count as Danielson knocks Stryker back with a European uppercut.)

("Burning Times" hits and the Pyro Twins make their way to the ring.)

David: Perhaps the greatest tag team in MECCA history, the Pyro Twins are here to get that shot against the winners of the Briscoes and Sydal and Danielson later on, and they have the best draw in this match.

Dick: They have that score to settle with the Briscoes, and would love nothing more than to win those tag team belts from them.

Tag Team Gauntlet: Bryan Danielson and Kevin Stone vs. The Pyro Twins

(FINISH: Danielson takes Jay down and starts nailing him with lethal elbows, but Dusty dropkicks him to break it up. Stone comes in and tries a double clothesline on the Pyro Twins, but they duck and hit Final Darkness. Jay covers, but Danielson makes the save. He ducks a clothesline from Dusty and takes him over with a tiger suplex. They go for the elevated Stone Cutter on Jay, but as they're setting it up, Dusty dives into Danielson's legs to make him lose his balance. Jay somersaults over Kevin and rolls him up with a sunset flip, somersaulting over into a bridge for the pin.)

Winners: The Pyro Twins

David: The Pyro Twins have won this match, and they were the only team not to eliminate another with their finisher. It was a flash pin by Jay on Stone.

Dick: That tells you something about the toughness of Stone and Danielson, a very underrated team, but it will be Jay Crowe and Dusty Schneble who will go to the MECCA Challenge IV and challenge for the tag team titles.

David: Up next is a huge grudge match, as it was back before Bloody Valentine that this whole thing started between Tristan Lee and the Consulate. Lee recruited Jamie Chan to be his partner to take on the Surgeons, but it was Chan who turned on Lee during the match, revealing himself as the newest associate of Prince Nana.

("On the Speedway" hits and Jamie Chan makes his way to the ring, along with Prince Nana.)

David: Jamie Chan sold out his partner for money, and jumped him from behind, and Lee has been seething ever since.

Dick: Chan and the Surgeons have made a very volatile combination, even moreso now that the Necro Butcher has been added to the mix.

("Ballroom Blitz" hits and Tristan Lee makes his way to the ring, running down and attacking Chan before the bell.)

David: Lee's not wasting in any time getting this one underway. He wants revenge!

Tristan Lee vs. Jamie Chan
Referee: Mike Neff

(FINISH: Chan hits a Saitama Kick in the corner and tries a superkick, but Tristan brushes his foot aside and sweeps the leg. He takes Chan over with a hurricanrana and hooks the legs for a two count. He hits a spinning heel kick and signals for the cross legged brainbuster. He gets Chan up, but Chan escapes. He kicks Tristan in the knee and hits an enzugiri. He goes up for the Falling Dragon, but Tristan moves. He gives Chan the cross legged brainbuster and covers, but Nana pulls the ref out of the ring. As the ref argues with Nana, Chan goes to the outside and gets a kendo stick. However, Tristan goes outside the ring and gets a chair. He goes after Chan, but Chan hits a cane shot to the midsection, causing Tristan to drop the chair. Chan gives him a Russian legsweep with the cane onto the chair. He throws both out of the ring and covers Tristan for the three count.)

Winner: Jamie Chan

David: Chan steals one thanks to Prince Nana and a couple of weapons!

Dick: Tristan wanted some payback, but his heart overruled his head and he paid the price for it himself.

David: Up next is the dream partner tag team match. We found out this past week on Go Time that Cynric chose Austin Lee to be his partner, but Ronin Fox went a bit further afield. He went all the way to Japan and picked out the brutal striker Yoshiaki Yago.

("Did My Time" hits and Ronin Fox and Yoshiaki Yago make their way to the ring.)

David: Cynric dared Fox to pick someone not in the House of Lords, and he picked a good one. Yoshiaki Yago is a former kickboxer. He gets the most out of every strike and is the perfect counter to Cynric's martial arts.

Dick: Ronin Fox wants to hurt his brother so bad that he never comes back, and if we see a repeat of Bloody Valentine with Yago in there, that could very well happen.

("Soul Creation" hits and Cynric and Austin Lee make their way to the ring.)

David: Cynric chose a man who knows Fox very well from here in MECCA and in the past in RCW, Austin Lee.

Dick: These two could make a very formidable team, but Cynric wants to be the one to beat Fox. He wants the momentum going into the MECCA Challenge next month.

Cynric and Austin Lee vs. Ronin Fox and Yoshiaki Yago
Referee: David Bowers

(FINISH: Yago kicks away at Lee, but he fights back with lefts and rights. Yago gets his guard up, but Lee kicks him in the midsection and hits the Rerun Neckbreaker. He tags Cynric, who hits a savage elbow from the top rope and covers for a two count. He immediately goes to Fox's corner and beels him into the ring. He starts kicking away at him in the corner, and then whips him into the ropes. He launches Fox overhead, but he catches Lee with a Tail End on the way down. Cynric sees Yago standing and tries a right and a left, but Yago blocks both of them. They go for roundhouse kicks, but Yago is faster and floors Cynric. Fox asks for the tag, and Yago gives it to him. Fox covers the unconscious Cynric and gets the three count.)

Winners: Ronin Fox and Yoshiaki Yago

David: Fox just pinned his brother once again, and he didn't even have to do the work this time!

Dick: Cynric lost his head there for a moment and cared more about hurting Fox than he did about winning the match.

(Cynric pounds the mat in frustration as Fox explains to him how easy that was from the aisle.)

David: Up next is a six-woman tag match, and obviously the situation in the ladies' division is very volatile now that the Ladies' Title has been vacated. We'll find out what Katie Piehl has in store for the title on Go Time, but she booked this match in an attempt to help alleviate some of the tensions going on.

("Serve the Shame" hits and Lisa Letty, Shadow and Allison Danger make their way to the ring.)

David: The House of Lords representatives, Shadow and Lisa, are not too happy with each other. Lisa is upset that Shadow managed to cost herself the Ladies' Title without even losing it in a match.

Dick: And of course the newest lady to grace the rings of MECCA, Allison Danger. There's a reason why she has that name.

("Fall Behind Me" hits and Naomi Leach, Sara Del Rey and Heather Star make their way to the ring.)

David: Of course, Danger and Star are embroiled in a bitter feud, and Naomi had been chasing Shadow for months before the title was taken away from her.

Dick: Sara Del Rey was quite upset about what happened to, considering she was the one in the ring with Shadow when she was disqualified. But for that, she very well may be the Ladies' Champion right now.

Naomi Leach, Sara Del Rey and Heather Star vs. Lisa Letty, Shadow and Allison Danger
Referee: Nikki Alvarado

(FINISH: Leach hits the NL Special on Shadow and covers, but Allison breaks up the pin. Heather comes in and tackles Danger and they roll on the mat, hitting each other with right hands. They brawl to the outside and then toward the back as Lisa comes in and rakes Naomi's back. She and Shadow pound away on Naomi and whip her into the ropes, but Naomi ducks a double clothesline, which allows Del Rey to hit them both with a double dropkick. Lisa goes to the outside, and Sara dives through the ropes with a tope. Shadow goes for the Interceptor on Naomi, but she blocks it and rolls her up with a crucifix, getting the three count.)

Winners: Naomi Leach, Sara Del Rey and Heather Star

David: Leach, Del Rey and Star win it, and at the very least Naomi can take some consolation in the fact that she got some payback on Shadow for all the months of ducking her.

Dick: Someone had better find Star and Danger and tell them the match is over. They were still going at it when we last saw them.

David: Up next is our World Title contest. In the back, Bill Bicknell is standing by with the challenger.

(Backstage, Bill Bicknell is with Eddie Crowe.)

Bill: Eddie, tonight's a big night for you, because you have the opportunity to once again be the MECCA Champion and at the expense of the man responsible for you losing the title at New Dawn last year.

Eddie: First of all, I have to thank Katie Piehl for this opportunity. She knows that at this point in time, I'm the best chance of taking the title off of Nykk, and how sweet it will be. True, I'm already the Toughman Champion, but Nykk, you held the World and Tag Team Titles by yourself, and I've been a double champion before as well. You can say all the accolades you want... I had the longest title reign, I made it into a World Title, etc... but the truth is, none of that matters until I hold the belt in my hands again. A new era will begin for Eddie Crowe after tonight, not a continuation of what went down before. Tonight I will be crowned the new MECCA Champion, and Nykk, you're going to have to be the one watching me main event the MECCA Challenge.

(Eddie exits.)

(In the arena, "Noots" hits and Eddie Crowe makes his way to the ring.)

David: Eddie Crowe has worked hard for this chance to regain the title he feels he never should have lost. He had one opportunity last fall against Bryan Danielson, but of course the House of Lords couldn't resist sticking their noses in that one as well.

Dick: Eddie has been the face of this company for a long time, to the point where it seemed strange to look at him without that belt. Once you've been to the top of that mountain, you'll do anything you can to get back.

("Destroy" hits and Nykk makes his way to the ring.)

David: Nykk may have his troops now, but let's not forget that he and Eddie have clashed well before the House of Lords existed.

Dick: The tables have turned somewhat since then, as Nykk has turned his back on the fans and wants to squash this threat to his title once and for all.

Jared: Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the MECCA World Championship! Introducing first, the challenger... from Bellbrook, Ohio, and weighing in at 195 lbs... he is a former MECCA Tag Team and World Champion and the current Toughman Champion... Eddiiiiie Crooooowe! And his opponent... also from Bellbrook, Ohio, and weighing in at 225 lbs... he is the current reigning and defending MECCA World Heavyweight Champion... Nyyyyykk!

MECCA World Championship: Eddie Crowe vs. Nykk
Referee: Mike Neff

(FINISH: Eddie goes for the Eddie Dive, but Nykk gets the knees up. Eddie lands on his feet and stomps directly on Nykk's face and then kicks him square in the face as he gets up. He goes for the Gutwrench Driver, but Nykk hooks Eddie's leg. He lifts him, but Eddie escapes and lands on his feet, hitting the Backslide Bomb. Nykk springs to his feet, but looks out of it, but floors Eddie with the Roaring Hammer before dropping to the mat. At the eight count, Eddie is up, but Nykk looks dead. Eddie picks him up, but Nykk suddenly springs to life and rolls him up with an inside cradle, getting a close two count. Nykk protests to the ref on his knees, but gets dropkicked from behind. Nykk's head goes right into the ref's crotch, and he goes down to the mat in pain. Eddie hits the running brainbuster and then goes to the top rope, hitting the 450 senton. He covers, but the ref is still holding himself. He whips Nykk into the ropes, but Nykk spins around Eddie into a schoolboy and locks his legs for the Cedarleaf. However, he drops down onto Eddie with a folding press and puts his feet on the ropes. The ref doesn't see it and makes the three count.)

Winner: Nykk

David: Nykk just stole this right out from under Eddie. He had his feet on the ropes!

Dick: The ref was still out of it and couldn't see it, but Nykk has managed to beat the man who has haunted his steps since he cost him the title almost a year ago.

(Nykk escapes up the aisle with the belt as Eddie protests to the referee.)

David: Eddie Crowe is upset, and rightfully so, but Nykk is still the MECCA Champion. Right now, we have a big grudge match, and it all started with two men who wanted to be a head lackey.

(Highlights of Joey Sprinklers and Huh's doomed partnership play until their breakup, and Huh chasing Joey to try and get him to accept his challenge.)

(In the arena, "Hit That" hits and Joey Sprinklers skateboards his way to the ring.)

David: Joey has been running from Huh ever since being fired from the House of Lords, and tonight he has to face his former partner.

Dick: Believe it or not, this is the longest running feud in MECCA today, as these guys have been itching to go at it since they joined the House of Lords almost a year ago.

("Pajamarama" hits and Huh makes his way to the ring.)

David: The fans have come back around on Huh since leaving the House of Lords, and he has their support going into this one.

Dick: For the first time, Huh is truly out on his own, without a group or tag team partner. This will be a true test of his capability.

Huh vs. Joey Sprinklers
Referee: Keith Young

(FINISH: Joey goes for the skateboard shoulder thrust, but Huh moves out of the way. He rolls up Joey for a two count. He whips Joey into the corner and hits an avalanche, but Joey pushes him off of the bulldog. Huh nearly collides with the ref, and Joey picks up the skateboard. He tries to ram it into Huh's knee, but Huh dodges and Joey hits the ref in the shins. Young turns his back while holding his leg, and Huh kicks Joey to make him drop the skateboard. He DDTs Joey onto the board, breaking it, and then goes to the top rope. He hits the moonsault and covers for the three count.)

Winner: Huh

David: Huh has settled things with his former partner, and now the possibilities are out there for the singles career of Huh.

Dick: Please, I bet he's even more lost without someone to watch his back.

David: Up next, we have our main event. The MECCA Tag Team Championship will be on the line as the Briscoes make their first defense against former champions, Matt Sydal and Delirious. Sydal and Delirious never got their rematch after losing the belts to Nykk and Fox, but tonight they come to reclaim what they won last fall.

("Clavicle" hits and Matt Sydal and Delirious make their way to the ring.)

David: The former champs are fired up tonight, as for the first time a MECCA Tag Team Title Match main events a pay-per-view.

Dick: Delirious and Sydal want to continue their success as a team. As odd a pairing as this is, they seem to work well together.

("Gimme Back My Bullets" hits and the Briscoes make their way to the ring.)

David: Jay and Mark Briscoe came to MECCA with a mission, and that was to become the tag team champs. They had to try against three different championship teams before winning the belts from Nykk and Fox.

Dick: They don't want to let go of those belts either. Sydal and Delirious have a night of work in store for them.

MECCA Tag Team Championship: The Briscoes vs. Matt Sydal and Delirious
Referee: David Bowers

(FINISH: Sydal and Delirious go for their Shadows Over Hell/Slice combo on Jay, but Mark pushes them out of the way and Delirious wipes out. Mark gives Delirious the Cutthroat Driver and then tosses him out of the ring. Sydal gives him a step up enzugiri, but he gets floored with a clothesline from Jay. He puts Sydal on his shoulders and Mark goes for the Springboard Doomsday Device. Sydal counters into a roll up for two, but Jay pushes him off right into an ace crusher from Mark. They give Sydal the Spike Jay Driller and Jay covers for the three count as Mark intercepts Delirious.)

Winners: The Briscoes

David: The Briscoes have successfully defended the MECCA Tag Team Titles, but as we saw in the opener, they now are faced with their arch nemeses, the Pyro Twins.

Dick: The House of Lords want those titles back, but it's going to be a lot easier said than done to get these belts off of Jay and Mark Briscoe.

David: Thank you for joining us here in Melee, and it's just a few weeks to go until the MECCA Challenge IV in Los Angeles. We'll see you then!
