Melee: 3/17/07

Toronto, Canada

Dark Match: John Walters vs. Jamie Chan
Referee: Matt Hitchcock

(FINISH: Chan tries a jumping spin kick, but Walters ducks and hits the lung blower. He picks up Chan and hits the Hurricane DDT, covering for the three count.)

Winner: John Walters

("Neocon" opening.)

Skippy: We are live on FSN and tonight MECCA makes its debut in Toronto, Canada, for the last bi-montly special on FSN as we will be going to monthly pay-per-views starting in May. This is Melee! I'm Skippy, along with Dick Broccoli, and tonight we'll see Bryan Danielson go one on one with Nykk in the main event.

Dick: Also, three titles will be decided as Joey Sprinklers defends the Toughman Title against Matt Stryker, the CDT defend the tag titles against the Human Tornado and Delirious, and Kelly Schweickart defends the Ladies' Title against Zoe Alexander.

Skippy: All that in addition to the finals of the lower brackets of the Women's World Cup, which starts now!

("Alcoholocaust" hits and Sara Del Rey makes her way to the ring.)

Skippy: A heavy round of boos for the American Angel, not because the fans really hate her, but because she will be facing the hometown gal right here at Melee.

Dick: Del Rey came close to winning the upper brackets, but fell to Rebecca Knox. This is the only match she needs to win in order to get a rematch with Knox in the finals at the MECCA Challenge III.

("Brackish" hits and Gail Kim makes her way to the ring.)

Skippy: The Toronto native is here in her hometown to win the lower brackets and go on to the MECCA Challenge III. It's been a hard road for Kim, losing in the first round to Mariko Yoshida and fighting all the way through the lower brackets to get here.

Dick: It's do or die time, as the loser of this match will be eliminated, making way for the winner to face Knox.

Women's World Cup Lower Brackets Finals: Gail Kim vs. Sara Del Rey
Referee: Rya Zeh

(FINISH: Kim goes for the Christo, but Del Rey sits out and plants her on the mat. She quickly locks in a double underhook, and lifts Gail into the submission. Gail won't give up, and eventually passes out. Zeh drops her hand twice, but on the third time, Gail keeps the arm up. Del Rey tries to take her over with the powerslam, but Gail breaks free of the double underhook and counters into an armdrag. She applies the Christo on Del Rey, and Del Rey tries to ram her into the corner to make her break the hold, but Kim keeps it on. She finally throws her weight forward, forcing Del Rey down in the middle of the ring. Finally, Del Rey taps out.)

Winner: Gail Kim

Skippy: Gail Kim has done it, and has made it to the finals of the Women's World Cup!

Dick: What an effort by both women, but in the end, Toronto's own Sensation of Submission picks up the victory in her hometown.

(Rebecca Knox suddenly slides into the ring and hits Kim from behind with a forearm. She stomps on Gail's head, and then gives her the Falcon Arrow. She screeches at the fans as they boo her.)

Skippy: Look at this, Rebecca Knox wasn't content to let Gail Kim have her moment of glory, and she jumped Kim from behind.

Dick: These two will face off at the MECCA Challenge III for the World Cup, and Knox is already trying to get into her head.

Skippy: We'll be right back with the MECCA Tag Team Championship on the line.

(Commercial Break)

(In the arena, "Cool" hits and the Human Tornado and Delirious make their way to the ring.)

Skippy: It's time for the tag titles to be put up for grabs as Caldwell's handpicked team of Delirious and Tornado and they have the opportunity of their careers right in front of them.

Dick: He chose them because they haven't had a great win/loss record and shouldn't be much of a threat to the CDT, but right after that they ended up winning a Four Corners tag match against three of MECCA's top teams.

("Sweet Dreams" hits and the CDT make their way to the ring, along with David Caldwell and Medea Knight.)

Skippy: Caldwell has had those ridiculous spinning belts made for the CDT, and every day that goes by cheapens those titles just a little bit more and undoes the hard work teams like the UK Wrecking Crew, the Pyro Twins and the Killer Kanines put into making them prestigious belts.

Dick: They haven't even had a decisive title defense yet, getting disqualified against the Killer Kanines and going to one of Caldwell's five minute time limit draws with the Pyro Twins.

MECCA Tag Team Championship: The Human Tornado and Delirious vs. The CDT
Referee: Keith Young

(FINISH: Delirious hits the Neverending Story Clothesline on Dreamo in the corner. CB tries to break it up, but Tornado whips him to the opposite corner and hits a tornado clothesline as Delirious finishes up. They give the CDT stereo bulldogs and cover for a two count. Delirious goes up for Shadows Over Hell, but David Caldwell gets on the apron. He sends Medea into the ring as Tornado confronts him, and Delirious gets off the top rope. He moves out of the way of a high knee from CB, who hits Caldwell. However, Dreamo lifts Medea into a military press and throws her at Delirious and Tornado. They rush to catch her, but that allows the CDT to hit a double dropkick to Medea's back, taking down Delirious and Tornado. Medea holds her back in pain, and Dreamo gives Tornado a kneelift to send him over the top rope. He and CB give Delirious the Nocturnal Emission, and Dreamo covers for the three count.)

Winners: The CDT

Skippy: What the hell was that!? Once again, Medea was abused at the hands of the David Caldwell Project. What a lack of respect. There's no way she was expecting them to do that.

Dick: It allowed the CDT to retain the tag titles in their first decisive defense, and that's all that Caldwell cares about.

Skippy: Up next, we've got our Toughman Title match. Don't go away!

(Commercial Break)

(In the arena, "Body Bomb" hits and Matt Stryker makes his way to the ring.)

Skippy: Welcome back to Melee here on FSN, and it's time for our Toughman Title Match! Originally it was going to be Matt Sydal in a rematch against his former partner, but we found out on Go Time that Sydal was injured during the week and will be taking a couple of weeks off. Thankfully, the Surgeons stepped up to save the day, and apparently Stryker was picked to go for the title.

Dick: And you know that former Toughman Champion Alan Mayse is just itching to get back to the States so he can try to regain the title he loves.

("Hit That" hits and Joey Sprinklers skateboards his way to the ring.)

Skippy: Joey Sprinklers ended the nine month long reign of Alan Mayse just days before he surpassed his personal record as RCW Champion, and he worse, he cheated to get the victory.

Dick: Joey has turned his back on the fans of MECCA for gold, and he seems to think it was worth it.

MECCA Toughman Championship: Matt Stryker vs. Joey Sprinklers
Referee: David Bowers

(FINISH: Joey goes for Da Sprinklanator, but Stryker escapes and counters with a hangman's neckbreaker. He pulls Joey to his feet and lifts him for the Stryker Driver and hits it. Joey grabs the bottom rope, and Stryker tries to pull him off. Joey suddenly lets go and Stryker tumbles into the ref, dazing him. They get up and Joey kicks Stryker below the belt, rolling him up with an inside cradle and getting the three count as the ref turns back around.)

Winner: Joey Sprinklers

Skippy: I don't believe it. Joey just cheated again to retain the Toughman Title! What kind of tough guy is he?

Dick: A successful one, apparently. He had to beat one of MECCA's top athletes to win that title, and I guess he'll use any means to keep it.

(Joey escapes with the belt as John Walters hits the ring to check on his partner.)

Skippy: I get the feeling that the Surgeons aren't done with our Toughman Champion. We'll be right back with the dream partner eight-man.

(Commercial Break)

(In the arena, "The Chase" hits and the Backseat Boyz and the UK Wrecking Crew make their way to the ring.)

Skippy: We've got an eight-man tag on our hands, and this match came about as a result of the Pyro Twins stating they were going to do to the Backseats what they did the UKWC. Katie Piehl did not want this to happen, so she signed the Backseats and the Pyro Twins for the MECCA Challenge III, and said they could choose their own partners to face off here tonight in an eight-man tag.

Dick: And the Backseats chose the one team that absolutely hates the Pyro Twins, Andy Nathans and Jack Fletcher. It was almost a year ago that the Pyro Twins took the tag belts from the UK Wrecking Crew and set them on fire in the middle of the ring.

("Burning Times" hits and the Pyro Twins and the Killer Kanines make their way to the ring.)

Skippy: Dusty and Jay recruited former tag team champs the Killer Kanines to be their partners for this match, and this is a formidable team indeed.

Dick: Both of these teams held the MECCA Tag Team Titles at one point, and the Killer Kanines took the Pyro Twins to the limit back at Punked Out last year. I guess they earned some respect from Jay and Dusty.

Dream Partner Tag Team Match: The Pyro Twins and the Killer Kanines vs. The Backseat Boyz and the UK Wrecking Crew
Referee: Matt Hitchcock

(FINISH: The Pyro Twins hit the Mandate of Heaven on Acid and Dusty covers. Kashmere tries to break it up with a legdrop, but Dusty moves and Kashmere hits his own partner. Jay clotheslines him over the top rope, and they set up Acid for Final Darkness. Before they can hit it, Kashmere pulls Acid out of the ring and they retreat up the aisle. The UK Wrecking Crew get back in the ring and ask them where they think they're going, but then turn around to come face to face with the Pyro Twins and the Killer Kanines. The Kanines go after Nathans as the Pyro Twins pound on Fletcher. The Kanines give Nathans their fallaway slam/backbreaker combo, and Dusty sits on the top rope as Jay slingshots Fletcher at him. Dusty kicks him in the face and Fletcher falls back across Jay's knees. Dusty then hits him with a kneedrop from the top. Wolf dropkicks him and he rolls out of the ring as Anubis brings Nathans to his feet. He whips him at the Pyro Twins, who fold him up with Final Darkness. Dusty covers and gets the three count.)

Winners: The Pyro Twins and the Killer Kanines

Skippy: The Pyro Twins win it after the Backseats hightailed their butts out of here. You would think the self professed best tag team in the business would be more confident after their earlier success against Jay and Dusty.

Dick: The Pyro Twins are definitely turning it up a notch as we approach the MECCA Challenge III.

Skippy: When we return, the Ladies' Title will be on the line. Don't miss it!

(Commercial Break)

(In the arena, "TKO" hits and Zoe Alexander makes her way to the ring.)

Skippy: We've got a Ladies' Title match about to begin, and it's Zoe Alexander's goal to win more gold for the David Caldwell Project.

Dick: She's certainly got the talent, and it looks like her affiliation with Caldwell has finally paid off with the title shot she's wanted all along.

("Take It Off" hits and Kelly Schweickart makes her way to the ring.)

Skippy: It's been a long, hard road for Kelly to make it to being Ladies' Champion, and she's not about to let Zoe take it from her without a fight.

Dick: Kelly was just a talented rookie when she broke in a couple of years ago, but now she's a true female competitor, and our Ladies' Champion, although Shadow would like to have something to say about that.

MECCA Ladies' Championship: Kelly Schweickart vs. Zoe Alexander
Referee: Nikki Alvarado

(FINISH: Zoe goes for the Zoetrope, but Kelly refuses to let her head be hooked, and takes Zoe over with a sunset driver. She gets to her feet and tries a hardway suplex, but Zoe elbows her in the head. She lifts Kelly into a firewoman's carry and gives her a Death Valley Driver. She covers, but Kelly manages to kick out at two. Infuriated, Zoe tries a powerbomb, but Kelly counters into a DDT. She gives Zoe a hardway suplex and then goes to the top, hitting the Kelly Cyclone. She does a standing 450 splash into a cover, and gets the pin.)

Winner: Kelly Schweickart

Skippy: Zoe came close, but she could not withstand that offensive flurry from Kelly, who is still our Ladies' Champion!

Dick: What a showing by these two ladies, and Zoe has to report disappointed to David Caldwell.

Skippy: There will be no lingerie or pillow fight matches for that title in the near future, I can assure everyone. When we come back we have a big grudge match, as Kevin Stone battles Huh, and it will be Anything Goes!

(Commercial Break)

(In the arena, "Pajamarama" hits and Huh makes his way to the ring, along with David Caldwell.)

Skippy: It was a few weeks ago that Huh attacked Kevin Stone backstage with a chair, and of course, Kevin wanted revenge. But to get Huh on this show, he had to defeat Jamie Chan in a match picked by Caldwell, a Submission Match, thinking his lack of submission skills would leave him easy prey for Chan.

Dick: Not only did Kevin win, he got to make the stipulation for this match, and he chose Anything Goes.

("At the End of the Rainbow" hits and Kevin Stone makes his way to the ring.)

Skippy: The MECCA Monster definitely does not want to see MECCA overrun by these sports entertainment fanatics, and he plans to wring Huh out like a dishtowel tonight.

Dick: I can't wait to see that, and the crowd is chanting "Kevin's gonna kill you" at Huh already.

Anything Goes: Kevin Stone vs. Huh
Referee: Keith Young

(FINISH: Huh runs at Stone with a chair, but he gives the chair a big boot straight back into Huh's face, knocking him down. Kevin sets up a table near the corner, but just as he finishes, Huh charges and steps off the table, giving Stone a vertical splash in the corner. He sets Stone on the top rope and goes up to superplex him through the table. Stone blocks it and hits Huh with right hands. He then gives him a Monster Bomb off the ropes and through the table. Huh lies motionless, but before Stone can cover, Caldwell is on the apron. Stone chases him away, but Concession Boy enters the ring. Stone gives him a lariat, and Dreamo comes at him from behind with a loaded pillowcase. Stone ducks and pulls Dreamo in, giving him a backdrop driver. Caldwell enters the ring and grabs a chair, dinking Stone in the back. As he celebrates, Stone turns around and grabs Caldwell by the shirt. However, Huh grabs the chair and sends it up into Stone's crotch. He doubles over and Huh whacks him across the back with the chair. He then hits him over the head twice, and Stone falls to the mat. Huh covers him and gets the three count.)

Winner: Huh

Skippy: I can't believe that Huh has just pinned Kevin Stone, even if the David Caldwell Project did interfere at will!

Dick: That's the danger of an Anything Goes environment, and Stone just learned that the hard way.

Skippy: We'll be right back with our main event, as Nykk will take on the American Dragon Bryan Danielson!

(Backstage, Nykk is warming up when Katie Piehl enters.)

Katie: Nykk, are you ready?

Nykk: Are you kidding? I've been waiting for this match for a long time, and it's finally here. Tonight, the American Dragon is going to get his comeuppance for everything he did to betray me, MECCA, and the sport of professional wrestling.

Katie: We're down 2-1 against the David Caldwell Project tonight. You have to even the score. You just have to. I'll never hear the end of this otherwise.

Nykk: Not to worry. Danielson's going down, and tonight the David Caldwell Project is going to be put out of its misery.

(Commercial Break)

(In the arena, "The Final Countdown" hits and Bryan Danielson makes his way to the ring.)

Skippy: The American Dragon is representing the David Caldwell Project, and despite being in this group of sports entertainers, he remains one of the best wrestlers in this organization, which makes him very dangerous.

Dick: I can see him singling out the skull that he injured back at Snowed In. Those elbows of Danielson may come in very handy tonight.

("Destroy" hits and Nykk makes his way to the ring.)

Skippy: Nykk is out for revenge on Danielson, and here we go!

(Nykk sprints to the ring and the ref calls for the bell.)

Nykk vs. Bryan Danielson
Referee: David Bowers

(FINISH: After multiple attempts to apply the Cedarleaf on Danielson, Nykk finally gets him with the Swinging Version. Danielson barely manages to make it to the ropes. Nykk lets go, and waits for Danielson to get up in the corner. He charges in for a European uppercut, but Danielson gives him a drop toehold into the second turnbuckle. Nykk gets up and runs into a roaring forearm. Nykk staggers, and Danielson goes for Cattle Mutilation. He can't get Nykk down, and Nykk turns over and hits a northern lights suplex with a bridge. At two, Danielson bridges up and swings over on top of Nykk, pulling him into a sitting position. He lays into Nykk's head with elbows, but Nykk gets up and lifts Danielson, dropping him front first to the mat. He grabs Danielson's head and lays into him with repeated knee strikes. Danielson is almost out, but he falls backwards and makes it to the ropes. He rolls to the apron, and Nykk grabs him. Danielson pulls out the top rope and lets go. It snaps back into Nykk's forehead, knocking him down. Danielson drops to the floor and scurries around the side of the ring on all fours. As Nykk looks for him, Danielson rolls back in. He catches Nykk with a small package and gets the three count.)

Winner: Bryan Danielson

Skippy: Danielson just surprised Nykk with a quick inside cradle, and his craftiness has netted him the victory in tonight's main event!

Dick: What a match between these two phenomenal competitors, but nothing has been settled in Nykk's mind. You know he's going to want another piece of Danielson.

(Danielson and Caldwell celebrate in the aisle as Nykk pounds the mat in frustration.)

Skippy: We approach the MECCA Challenge III with the David Caldwell Project firmly in control, as they won three out of four of their matches tonight. How will Katie Piehl and MECCA respond? We'll see you this Wednesday on Go Time!
