Scared Stiff: 10/28/06

Richmond, VA

Scared Stiff: 10/28/06

Countdown Match: Kelly Schweickart vs. Coquette
Referee: Rya Zeh

(FINISH: Coquette manages to apply the Coquettish Clutch, but Kelly makes it to the ropes. Coquette keeps up the attack, stomping Kelly's head, and whips her into the ropes. Kelly gets a go behind and hits a hardway suplex. She goes to the top rope and hits the Kelly Cyclone, covering for the three count.)

Winner: Kelly Schweickart

("Call Me When You're Sober" opening. In the arena, seven students, Ryan Saito, Delirious, Matt Sydal, the Killer Kanines, Joey Sprinklers, the Human Tornado, Trent Acid, Johnny Kashmere, Cheesecake, JT Stahr and TJ Dalton are in the ring. "The Final Countdown" hits and Bryan Danielson makes his way to the ring.))

David: We are making our debut right here in Richmond, Virginia, as the Modern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts presents the second annual Scared Stiff, live on pay-per-view! I'm David Mills, along with Dick Broccoli, and we're kicking things off with the Wild Card Battle Royale!

Dick: Tonight we've got Ronin Fox taking on Eddie Crowe for the World Title, the Stiff Strike Challenge, an Inferno Match to settle the feud between the Pyro Twins and the UK Wrecking Crew, and a whole lot more.

David: But the stakes are high for this battle royale, because none of these men are on the Contender Star, and some aren't even in MECCA, but a win would nab them a guaranteed World Title shot at a time of their choosing. The American Dragon has been looking to work his way up the card to get back on the Contender Star, but it hasn't been working out too well for him. Winning this match would be his best chance at getting a title shot right now.

Wild Card Battle Royale
Referees: David Bowers, Keith Young, Matt Hitchcock

(FINISH: The final four participants are Anubis, the Wild Wolf, Matt Sydal and Bryan Danielson. Danielson gives Anubis a charging European uppercut in the corner, but runs into a dropkick from the Wild Wolf. Sydal vaults off the ropes for a body press, but Wolf kicks him. He goes to powerbomb Sydal over the ropes, but Sydal hooks him with a hurricanrana and takes him over the top rope, hanging on and eliminating the Wild Wolf. Sydal gets to his feet on the apron, but Danielson charges and knocks Sydal off the apron and to the floor. He ducks a clothesline from Anubis and peppers him with slaps in the corner. Danielson plays to the crowd, and gets caught with right hands from Anubis. He whips Danielson into the ropes and goes for a backdrop. Danielson lands on the apron, and Anubis charges him. Danielson hooks Anubis's head with his legs in a headscissors, and attempts to take him over the top rope. Anubis gets about halfway over before pushing Danielson off and freeing himself. He turns around, thinking he's eliminated Dragon, but Danielson hangs on. Anubis sees him as he starts to skin the cat and charges with a big boot to the midsection, propelling Danielson over the top and to the floor.)

Winner: Anubis

David: The big man wins the battle royale and now Anubis gets a World Title shot whenever he wants!

Dick: Big victory for Anubis, his first major singles victory, as a matter of fact.

David: But if you thought that was stiff, you haven't seen nothing yet. Up next, four of the toughest competitors in MECCA compete in the annual Stiff Strike Challenge. Let's go to ring announcer Jared Schrunk for the rules.

Jared: Ladies and gentlemen, it is now time for the Stiff Strike Challenge! In this match, a fifteen minute time limit is imposed. There are no disqualifications, submissions, or count-outs in this contest. The match can only be ended before the time limit by pinfall. In the event of a time limit, the competitor with the most connected strikes on his opponents will be declared the winner. A strike is defined as driving a body part into an opponent; therefore, punches, kicks, shoulders, elbows, forearms, headbutts, and knees all count as strikes, but moves such as suplexes, bombs, dives and slams do not. Each wrestler's strikes will be counted by a separate judge. And now, here are this year's participants!

("Fighters Passion" hits and Low Ki makes his way to the ring.)

David: Low Ki competed in last year's Stiff Strike Challenge but had a bit of agenda that ended up costing him the victory. This year he's 100% focused on proving that he is indeed the stiffest competitor in MECCA.

Dick: He's been having a bit of a problem with Kevin Stone, though, as each lay claim to being the biggest bad ass in the company, and each feel personal stakes in this contest.

("Still More Fighting" hits and Jamie Chan makes his way to the ring, along with David Caldwell.)

David: Here comes the man who got the upset victory over Low Ki, thanks to Stone, Jamie Chan of Stage One. You know that Low Ki's looking for some payback from him as well.

Dick: Chan is the dark horse in this one, but he is a great striker, and we'll see if he can keep up with the big guns.

("Soul Creation" hits and Cynric makes his way to the ring.)

David: One half of the MECCA Tag Team Champions, and known for his martial arts style, Cynric can definitely mix it up with the strikes better than just about anyone.

Dick: It's his first Stiff Strike Challenge, and you know he's looking to have his impact felt.

("At the End of the Rainbow" hits and Kevin Stone makes his way to the ring.)

David: The MECCA Monster, former MECCA Champion and winner of last year's Stiff Strike Challenge is looking to make it an undefeated streak tonight.

Dick: He's focused on Low Ki, though, which could cost him with two other great strikers in the ring.

Stiff Strike Challenge: Low Ki vs. Jamie Chan vs. Cynric vs. Kevin Stone
Referee: Matt Hitchcock

(FINISH: About halfway through the match, Stone sends Cynric shoulder first into the ring post. Low Ki, who is already on the outside, gives Cynric the Tidal Crush on the floor, crushing his head against the post. Cynric falls out of the ring unconscious, and remains that way for the remainder of the match. Low Ki gets a big lead in strikes, and Kevin Stone tries to catch up. He evens the score with Ki, and kills Chan with a big boot and goes for the cover, but Ki breaks it up. With only a minute left, Ki manages to get Stone in the Hanging Dragon to incapacitate him. Chan comes over and pulls Low Ki off, but Ki kicks him in the face, and Chan goes down. Ki starts giving him Kawada Kicks, pulling far ahead of Stone again with only twenty seconds left and ends up knocking him out. He goes for the Ki Krusher, but Stone charges and gives Ki a hard lariat. Ki goes down and drops Chan, and Stone covers Chan for the three count.)

Winner: Kevin Stone

David: Kevin Stone is victorious for the second year in a row in the Stiff Strike Challenge, this time by pinfall.

Dick: He had no other choice, as Ki was way ahead in strikes, and with the time limit expiring, Stone knew he only had a few seconds to get the pin and end the match.

David: You can rest assured the issue is not over between these two.

(Stone and Ki are still trying to get at each other, and officials come out to separate them, as other officials help Cynric and Chan to the back.)

David: Up next is our Toughman Title Match, as Alan Mayse has issued an open contract to anyone in the world, and the man to answer the challenge was the one and only Masato Tanaka from Japan.

(Clips are shown of Alan Mayse making his challenge.)

(In the arena, "DanGan" hits and Masato Tanaka makes his way to the ring.)

David: Alan Mayse wants the toughest competition to establish the Toughman Title, and you won't find a tougher man than Masato Tanaka, who had that legendary series of matches in ECW with Mike Awesome all those years ago.

Dick: He's unproven in a MECCA ring, though, but he has guts putting his reputation on the line like this.

David: MECCA officials are ready to sign Tanaka for upcoming shows if he should win the title here tonight, as is a very good possibility.

("Seven Nation Army" hits and Alan Mayse makes his way to the ring.)

David: Alan Mayse has done everything in his power to build the Toughman Title, and I for one, say he's done a phenomenal job. The list of men he's beaten speaks for itself... Trent Acid, Kevin Stone, Bryan Danielson, among others.

Dick: Anyone can challenge for the Toughman Title, making it a very exhausting belt to hold onto, and I wonder sometimes how Alan deals with the pressure.

MECCA Toughman Championship: Alan Mayse vs. Masato Tanaka
Referee: Keith Young

(Alan gives Tanaka a release German suplex, but Tanaka powers his way to his feet. He blocks a right hand from Alan and hits an elbow strike, followed by another one. He goes for the Roaring Elbow, but Alan ducks and kicks Tanaka, hitting a powerbomb and covering with a folding press for a two count. Alan signals for the Tiger Bomb, and brings Tanaka to his feet. He butterflys the arms and lifts him, but Tanaka escapes and bounces off the ropes, hitting the Roaring Elbow. He takes Alan to the corner for a Tornado DDT, but Alan counters into a sitout spinebuster. Tanaka rolls through, and Alan gets to his feet, hitting the Tiger Bomb. He covers, but Tanaka barely kicks out. Alan goes for a springboard dropkick, but Tanaka dropkicks him out of midair. He goes to the top rope, but Alan follows him up. They exchange rights, and Alan gives him some headbutts. He hits the top rope Tiger Bomb, and gets the three count.)

Winner: Alan Mayse

David: Alan Mayse has just proven that he can defend that Toughman Title against anyone in the world! What a victory!

Dick: Tanaka came very close a couple of times, but Alan was the better man on this night. I wouldn't mind seeing Tanaka try again someday.

(Alan and Tanaka meet in the center of the ring and shake hands.)

David: We certainly thank Masato Tanaka for being with us tonight, and bringing some international flavor here to Scared Stiff, but up next, another title is on the line as Shadow challenges LuFisto for the Ladies' Championship.

(A short video package plays, highlighting Shadow and LuFisto's time in the Dangerous Liaison together, LuFisto's title reign, and Shadow's vow to win the belt back.)

(In the arena, "Gangsta Bitch" hits and Shadow makes her way to the ring.)

David: It's been a long road for Shadow to get this opportunity. She's a former Ladies' Champion, but her reign didn't last very long, and she's here to make sure that a new one will bring the ladies' division to all new heights.

Dick: Shadow has been very impressive recently, showing her versatility in singles, tag, and multi-woman matches.

("What You Waiting For" hits and LuFisto makes her way to the ring.)

David: LuFisto won the Ladies' Title from Gail Kim on June 24, ending her seven month title reign, the longest title reign in MECCA to date of any champion, and she's beaten such talent as Lisa Letty, Gail Kim again in an I Quit Match, and Zoe Alexander.

Dick: She plans on adding Shadow to that list, but she's in for the fight of her life, as Shadow has been in top form lately.

MECCA Ladies' Championship: LuFisto vs. Shadow
Referee: Nikki Alvarado

(FINISH: Early in the match, Shadow removes one of the top turnbuckle pads. LuFisto goes for the LuFisto Launcher, but Shadow counters into a reverse DDT and gets a close two count. Frustrated, Shadow goes to the outside and throws in a chair. Alvarado gets rid of the chair as Shadow brings another one into the ring and places it on LuFisto's back. She goes to the top turnbuckle, but Alvarado sees the chair and throws it away. Shadow argues with the ref and then jumps anyway, going for a splash, but LuFisto moves. She goes for LuFisto's Law, but Shadow rolls through and stands up, ramming her back first into the exposed turnbuckle. She gives LuFisto a schoolgirl rollup and puts her feet on the ropes, getting the three count.)

Winner: Shadow

David: We have a new Ladies' Champion, but I can't believe that Shadow just cheated to end LuFisto's dominant title reign!

Dick: Beating her with wrestling wasn't working, so I guess Shadow decided she had to take some shortcuts. Nonetheless, a new Ladies' Champion is crowned, making Shadow a two-time champ.

(Shadow grabs the belt and makes a run for it, as LuFisto protests to the ref.)

David: What a bad break for LuFisto, as Shadow stole the belt from her right here tonight. Up next, one of the most highly anticipated matches of the year, as Eddie Crowe defends his MECCA World Title against Ronin Fox. These two have met once before, and it was Fox coming out with the DQ victory, but not the belt. Now one half of the tag team champions, Fox is determined to realize what he feels is his destiny and claim this company's top prize.

("Did My Time" hits and Ronin Fox makes his way to the ring.)

David: This match is going on early because of the inherent danger in the Inferno Match later on, as with fire anything could go wrong and if there were a situation where we needed to evacuate the building, at least it would be at the end of the night.

Dick: Fox doesn't care about match placement tonight, though, he only cares about beating Eddie Crowe and finally becoming a World Champion.

("Noots" hits and Eddie Crowe makes his way to the ring.)

David: Eddie Crowe has made this title a World Title, defending it in England and Italy back in the Spring, and has defeated such challengers as Low Ki, Bryan Danielson and Fox's brother Cynric here in MECCA.

Dick: Eddie's credentials speak for themselves, but Fox can't help but feel that Eddie slipped past him up the ladder and got what was rightfully his.

Jared: Ladies and gentlemen, this contest is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the MECCA World Heavyweight Championship! To my left, the challenger... now residing in Westminster, Colorado, and weighing in at 175 lbs... he is one half of the current MECCA Tag Team Champions... Roniiiiin Fooooooox! And his opponent... from Bellbrook, Ohio... weighing in at 195 lbs... he is the current reigning and defending MECCA World Heavyweight Champion... Eddieeeeee Croooooowe!

MECCA World Championship: Eddie Crowe vs. Ronin Fox
Referee: David Bowers

(FINISH: Halfway through the match, Eddie goes for the Eddie Dive, but Cynric runs in and pulls Eddie off the second turnbuckle. He stomps away at Eddie before Bowers ushers him out of the ring, not wanting to call for a DQ in such a big match. Later on, Fox counters a superplex attempt into the Tail End and covers, only to have the Pyro Twins come down and pull Fox off. They hammer him as several refs come out to pull them off, and Bowers lets the match continue. The Pyro Twins remain in the aisle, as Eddie hits Fox with a running brainbuster. He applies the Crowe's Nest, but the UK Wrecking Crew run in from the crowd and attack Eddie. In response, the Pyro Twins run back down and attack the UKWC. Fox starts laying into Jay, and Jay starts fighting back with him. Cynric runs back out to join the fray, and the ref calls for the bell, throwing the match out.)

Winner: No Contest

David: Bowers has thrown this match out, after doing everything in his power to give the fans a clean winner!

Dick: The UKWC and Fox and Cynric are brawling with the EDJ, and all hell has broken loose!

(Eddie dropkicks Cynric through the ropes, but then gets hit from behind by Nathans and taken through the ropes himself. Dusty clotheslines Fletcher over the top rope with such velocity that he goes out to the floor as well. Jay clotheslines Nathans, who rolls to the outside, and Jay steps out to the apron, only to be knocked into the guardrail by Fox. The UKWC, Cynric and the EDJ brawl around ringside as Fox gets a mic.)

Fox: This is all BS! I should be the MECCA Champion right now, but I just got screwed again! But look at who's still standing! Me, Ronin Fox! And I will take that title soon, because there's no one who can stop me in this company!

(At those words, Nykk suddenly emerges from the curtain. He stalks down to ringside and slides in to the ring. Fox sees him coming and drops the mic. They lay into each other with right hands, and Nykk takes down Fox, pummeling him. He brings him to his feet and whips him into the ropes, hitting him with a running back elbow. He gives Fox Howling Moon II and then goes to the outside. He gets a trash-masher from underneath the ring and brings it inside. He prepares to take a swing, but Fox manages to duck and dives through the ropes. Nykk watches him leave, a look of hatred in his face.)

David: Nykk has returned to MECCA, and he's come to make good on his promise to cripple Ronin Fox! It's a good thing he got out of there while he did, because I don't think Fox can stand up to Nykk in the state of mind he must be in right now!

Dick: Fox's hunt for the title just became unsure with Nykk back!

(An army of officials come out to prevent Nykk from chasing Fox up the aisle.)

David: We're going to cut to a video of the David Caldwell Project right now, as we struggle to restore order. Up next is a handicap match featuring Huh and the CDT taking on the Surgeons!

(A video package airs, showing the blinding of Huh and his joining the David Caldwell Project, their rise thanks to Caldwell's co-ownership of MECCA, the Surgeons breaking Concession Boy's jaw and deafening Dreamo, and their beatdown of the Surgeons to set up the match.)

(In the arena, "Body Bomb" hits and the Surgeons make their way to the ring.)

David: We're finally ready for our next match, as the Surgeons are still kind of the new team here in MECCA, but incurred the wrath of David Caldwell by beating his charges Stage One their first night in.

Dick: They've shown how dangerous they can be in the ring with what they did to the CDT after they ambushed them last month at At Your Own Risk.

("Pajamarama" hits and Huh and the CDT make their way to the ring, along with David Caldwell, each still wearing protection over their damaged functions.)

David: Huh is still blind, Concession Boy can't talk and Dreamo can't hear out of one ear still. This is a handicap match both literally and figuratively, as it's basically up to Caldwell as far as communication for his team goes, and we know how good he is at that.

Dick: Do I sense some sarcasm, David? Even three-on-two, it may not be enough for the David Caldwell Project going against these ring veterans.

Handicap Tag Team Match: The Surgeons vs. Huh and the CDT
Referee: Keith Young

(FINISH: Stryker gives CB the Stryker Driver as Walters gives Dreamo a Hurricane DDT. Huh is left alone with them, and he can't see where he's going. They trap him, and Huh tries to make a run for it. The Surgeons grab him, but Caldwell gets on the apron. They go after Caldwell instead, and Huh takes off his blindfold and stares at the Surgeons' backs. He calls for a chair, and CB gives him one. Huh hits Walters across the back as the ref is between Stryker and Caldwell. Huh cracks Walters once more across the head and covers. Dreamo pulls Stryker out of the ring as the ref makes the three count.)

Winners: The David Caldwell Project

David: I don't believe it, the David Caldwell Project steals another victory, as Huh seems to have recovered from his ailment finally!

Dick: Good for Huh, but bad for the Surgeons, who took him as no threat because of his handicap.

(Caldwell ushers his guys out of the ring, and they retreat up the aisle as Stryker tends to his partner and stares after them.)

David: What a dupe by David Caldwell and Huh, as they've managed to pick up the win against a very well-oiled tag team. Ladies and gentlemen, up next is the main event, and without a doubt the most dangerous match we've ever held here in MECCA. As the ring crew fortifies the ringside area, let's take a look at what brought this feud to a violent conclusion.

(A video plays, recapping the entire Pyro Twins/UKWC feud, from the UKWC's first win over the Pyro Twins in February 2005, to the UKWC winning the tag titles and ducking the Pyro Twins, to the restraining order and their joining of SELF, and then to their beating down of Eddie Crowe and the introduction of the Grenadiers, to the Pyro Twins winning the belts from them at the MECCA Challenge II and setting them on fire, to the UKWC returning and costing the Pyro Twins the tag titles at Summertime Showdown.)

(In the ring, Jared Schrunk is in the ring.)

Jared: Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining us live tonight on pay-per-view, as well as all of you watching at home! This is your main event of the evening, and it is the Ring of Fire! At the start of this match, two fire wells, one at ringside and one spanning the aisle, will be ignited. Should the match reach the fifteen minute mark, the ring ropes will then be set ablaze. The only way to win is for a member of one team to set a member of the opposing team on fire!

("Problems" hits and the UK Wrecking Crew make their way to the ring, wearing pants and long shirts.)

David: We're all set to go, and the UK Wrecking Crew came prepared. They're not taking any chances, and are protecting themselves from being burned.

Dick: Not only protecting themselves, but their careers and lives. They realize that the Pyro Twins are in their environment tonight, and they are very dangerous in that environment.

("Burning Times" hits and the Pyro Twins make their way to the ring, also wearing long shirts along with their normal pants.)

David: The Pyro Twins realize the danger as well, which should tell you just how dangerous this match really is. MECCA has taken every measure possible to protect the competitors, the referee and the fans in this one.

Dick: Trained firefighters with fire extinguishers are standing by should anything get out of hand, but all these two teams are thinking about right now is ending this rivalry.

Ring of Fire: The Pyro Twins vs. The UK Wrecking Crew
Referee: David Bowers

(FINISH: At the ten second mark before the fifteen minute mark, Dusty gets pitched to the floor by Nathans. The top and middle ring ropes are then ignited, leaving Jay alone with both members of the UKWC. Dusty tries to get back in, but can't get through the wall of fire. Nathans sets up a table as Fletcher sets up a chair. He lights the seat of the chair on fire and tries to back suplex Jay through it, but Jay counters with rights and then lands on his feet. He pushes Fletcher away and gives Nathans a drop toehold onto the chair, though it doesn't set him on fire. Fletcher tries to whip Jay into the ropes, but Jay reverses and Fletcher puts on the brakes. Meanwhile, Dusty gets a fire extinguisher from under the ring and sprays one side of the ring ropes, allowing him to get back in. He hits Fletcher in the face with the fire extinguisher as Jay lights the table on fire. They give Fletcher a double spinebuster through the table, but his body just puts out the flames. Frustrated, Jay and Dusty go after Nathans, but he gives them a double low blow. He tries to whip Dusty into the ropes, but Dusty counters with an armwringer and smacks Nathans to turn him around. He then flings a can of lighter fluid onto his back. Nathans turns around as Jay dropkicks him, sending him into the ropes. Nathans's shirt is aflame, and Bowers calls for the bell. He then quickly grabs the fire extinguisher and puts out Nathans as EMTs rush into the ring.)

Winners: The Pyro Twins

David: The Pyro Twins have won this feud, and they did it in their own kind of match! Jay and Dusty are standing tall as Andy Nathans is receiving medical attention.

Dick: Even though he was only aflame for a few moments, that is some hot fire in that ring, and he'll be lucky if he escaped with anything less than minor burns.

David: The most dangerous match in MECCA history is over, and it's the Pyro Twins who are the men of the hour. As Scared Stiff comes to a close, we want to thank all you fans for joining us, and we'll see you on Go Time, as well as November 25 for No Regrets!
