Countdown Match: Daizee Haze vs. Zoe Alexander
Referee: Rya Zeh
(FINISH: Daizee goes for the Yakuza Kick, but Zoe shoves her foot aside. She lifts Daizee for the Zoetrope, but Daizee counters into a sunset flip for a two count. Zoe grabs Daizee's hair, but Daizee throws her off and hits a heart punch. She goes for the Mind Trip, but Zoe escapes and hits a DDT. She gives Daizee a Death Valley Driver and covers for the three count.)
Winner: Zoe Alexander
("Animals" by Nickelback opening.)
David: Hello, fans, and welcome to Minneapolis, Minnesota, as the Midwestern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts presents Summertime Showdown, coming to you live on pay-per-view! Huge main event tonight, as the American Dragon Bryan Danielson will challenge for the MECCA World Championship against Eddie Crowe. I'm David Mills, along with Dick Broccoli.
Dick: All of MECCA's titles will be on the line, as Alan Mayse defends the Toughman Title against Kevin Stone. LuFisto defends the Ladies' Title against Gail Kim in an I Quit Match, and Ronin Fox and Cynric will challenge for the Pyro Twins' Tag Team Titles.
David: Plus a Pipe on a Pole Match between Nykk and Trent Acid, and much more!
("Pajamarama" hits and Huh makes his way to the ring.)
David: We're kicking things off with a match of former tag team partners, as the ever clueless Huh makes his way to the ring.
Dick: Normally so stoic, Huh had a fire lit under him after Cheesecake turned on him a few weeks ago.
("Filthy/Gorgeous" hits and Cheesecake makes his way to the ring, arm in arm with a short, brown-haired woman in a beret.)
David: Here's Cheesecake, but who the hell is this? Is this who Cheesecake has been on the phone with for the last month?
Dick: I don't know, but they're strutting down the aisle like they're a couple of fashion models.
(As the ref checks Cheesecake for foreign objects, he puts his hands on his arms. Cheesecake pulls away violently, telling the ref to keep his hands to himself. He beckons the woman over an she sprays Cheesecake's wrist with disinfectant.)
David: Cheesecake apparently wants the referee to keep his filthy hands off of him. What's with that? He's never cared about that before.
Dick: He likes to keep clean now, I guess.
Huh vs. Cheesecake
Referee: Matt Hitchcock
(FINISH: Huh gives Cheesecake a back body drop, and then whips him into the corner. He hits a charging avalanche, followed by a bulldog for a two count. He scoop slams Cheesecake and goes up top for a moonsault, but Cheesecake's woman gets on the apron. Huh goes over to her, but Hitchcock gets in between them. Huh grabs her by the hair, and she manages to throw the bottle of disinfectant to Cheesecake. The ref finally separates them, but Huh turns around and gets sprayed in the face with disinfectant. Cheesecake rolls him up with an inside cradle and gets the three count as Hitchcock turns around.)
Winner: Cheesecake
David: What the hell was that!? Huh just took that disinfectant right in the face! Is this how Cheesecake plans on winning his matches now?
Dick: That stuff's not meant to go in the eyes, David. Huh could be in serious trouble out here.
(Cheesecake blows a kiss to Huh and leaves arm in arm with his woman. Officials come out and Hitchcock presses a wet towel over Huh's eyes. Huh gasps in pain as the refs help him from the ring.)
David: Huh needs to be taken to the back and hopefully wash all that junk out of his eyes. I can't believe Cheesecake. He may have permanently blinded the man!
("Cool" hits and the Human Tornado and Delirious make their way to the ring. They check on Huh on their way out, but he tells them to go to the ring.)
David: We're continuing with the Tag Team Gauntlet, and I guess we'll get an update on Huh later. It looks like Delirious and Tornado are ready to prove themselves as a tag team here in MECCA.
Dick: Once again you have to wonder how the CDT are taking this, being the other team in the Eccentric Alliance.
("Still More Fighting" hits and Stage One make their way to the ring, along with David Caldwell.)
David: These two teams have a long way to go, because after they beat each other they have the Killer Kanines, the CDT and the UK Wrecking Crew to contend with.
Dick: It's not the most desirable spot, but if one of these teams could make it to the end, they would definitely be worthy of a title shot.
Tag Team Gauntlet: Delirious and the Human Tornado vs. Stage One vs. The UK Wrecking Crew vs. The CDT vs. The Killer Kanines
Referee: Keith Young
(FINISH: Delirious goes for Chemical Imbalance #2 on Chan, but he flips out of it, and tries a jumping spin kick. Delirious ducks and lifts Chan onto his shoulders. Tornado springboards to the top rope and hits Chan with a dropkick to take him down. Saito tries a clothesline, but Tornado blocks it and sets him up for a reverse DDT. Delirious climbs the turnbuckles and they nail a reverse DDT/Shadows Over Hell combo. Delirious covers and gets the three count.)
Winners: Delirious and the Human Tornado
("Kobrakai" hits and the Killer Kanines make their way to the ring.)
David: The Killer Kanines have been dominant this year, but haven't quite laid claim to the tag titles, though it wouldn't surprise me if they had gold by the end of 2006.
Dick: And they're fresh, which gives them an obvious advantage over Tornado and Delirious in this contest.
(FINISH: The Killer Kanines plow through Tornado and Delirious real quick, and finish off Tornado with the Dog Catcher. Wolf covers for the three count.)
Winners: The Killer Kanines
("Ironman" hits and the UK Wrecking Crew make their way to the ring.)
David: The UK Wrecking Crew can't be happy about this, as the Killer Kanines took care of Delirious and Tornado in short order, and barely even broke a sweat.
Dick: They thought they were going to get a worn down Wild Wolf and Anubis, but now they're practically on the same footing.
(FINISH: Wolf hits the reverse superplex on Nathans, but as Anubis jumps for the Sphinx Splash, Fletcher runs over and grabs his leg, crotching Anubis on the top rope. Anubis falls to the mat, his leg trapped in between the top and middle ropes. Wolf attacks Fletcher, but the ref gets in between them as Fletcher goes to the ropes. Young tries to free Anubis as Nathans pulls a chain from his boot. He hits Wolf in the face and covers just as Anubis comes loose. Young slides over and makes the three count.)
Winners: The UK Wrecking Crew
("Sweet Dreams" hits and the CDT make their way to the ring, along with Medea Knight.)
David: The UK Wrecking Crew were being outwrestled there by the young tandem of Anubis and the Wild Wolf, and they opted for a cheap victory after neutralizing the big man.
Dick: They know they can't expend too much energy, as they have another match to wrestle. But you have to wonder if the CDT's heads are in the game after witnessing what happened to Huh earlier.
(FINISH: Concession Boy comes off the top with a double dropkick on Fletcher and Nathans. He gives Nathans some knee strikes and bounces off the ropes. The UK Wrecking Crew give him a double hiptoss, but then catch his legs and throw him backwards into Dreamo, taking them both down. Fletcher dropkicks CB to send him from the ring, and they hit the Wrecking Ball on Dreamo. Nathans covers and gets the three count.)
Winners: The UK Wrecking Crew
David: The UK Wrecking Crew have made it through the Tag Team Gauntlet, and will probably get a serious look when it comes time to select the next contenders for the MECCA Tag Team Titles.
Dick: Congratulations to the UK Wrecking Crew, but up next, the Ladies' Title will be decided, as LuFisto defends against the former champion Gail Kim.
Dick: The First Lady of Hardcore vs. The Sensation of Submission, and this will be an I Quit Match.
("Brackish" hits and Gail Kim makes her way to the ring.)
David: Gail Kim and LuFisto were the founding members of the Dangerous Liaison, but that's all in the past now.
Dick: Gail was the longest reigning Ladies' Champion in MECCA history, and feels she only lost because she wrestled LuFisto in her kind of match rather than hers.
("Sold Me" hits and LuFisto makes her way to the ring.)
David: LuFisto came close to becoming the first Ladies' Champion all the way back at our first show, and she finally got her due when she won the title back at Midsummer Night Slam.
Dick: This I Quit Match plays into both ladies' strengths, as you can do whatever you need to do in order to make you opponent say "I quit." Whether that's hitting them with as many weapons as it takes, or stretching them into submission, that's up to the competitors to decide.
I Quit Match for the MECCA Ladies' Championship: LuFisto vs. Gail Kim
Referee: Nikki Alvarado
(FINISH: LuFisto sets up a chair in between the top and middle turnbuckles, and tries to whip Gail into it. Gail grabs the ropes before she hits the chair, and charges LuFisto, applying the Christo. Alvarado comes in with the mic, but LuFisto won't quit. She starts to fade, but before she drops to her knees, she starts spinning around, turning it into a modified giant swing. She moves close to the corner and starts banging Gail's head into the chair every time she does a revolution. Finally, Kim lets go and falls to the mat. LuFisto rolls to the outside and goes under the ring. She brings out a box of weapons, and pulls out two light tubes. She rolls them into the ring and picks one up. She prepares to smash it across Gail's back, but Gail manages to headbutt her in the midsection and take the light tube away. She swings, but LuFisto ducks. Gail gives her a back kick to the midsection to double her over, and then smashes the light tube across the back of her head. LuFisto falls to the mat, and Gail puts the tube down. She gives LuFisto a reverse DDT onto the remains, shattering it. LuFisto writhes in pain as she's bleeding from the back, and Alvarado asks her if she wants to quit. LuFisto says no, which enrages Gail. She takes the other light tube and lays it over LuFisto's face. She gets the chair and prepares to smash the light tube into her eyes. However, LuFisto rolls out of the way and Gail just smashes the light tube with the chair. She goes after LuFisto with the chair again, but LuFisto again rolls out of the way. She pursues her, but LuFisto gives her a drop toehold onto the middle rope. They both stagger to their feet, and LuFisto gives her the LuFisto Launcher onto the chair. She turns Gail over and places her head on the chair. She grapevines Gail's arms behind her back with her legs, and then drops forward into a push up position. She uses her legs to drive Gail's head into the chair. Every time she does it, she tells the ref to ask her. Gail refuses to quit, so LuFisto keeps driving her head into the chair. Finally, Gail starts to bleed from the mouth. LuFisto drives her head into the chair rapidly, and Gail finally says "I quit." Alvarado calls for the bell.)
Winner: LuFisto
David: LuFisto will remain Ladies' Champion, but what a war these two women just went through!
Dick: I thought LuFisto was done after she went into that light tube. Her own hardcore specialty backfired, but she was able to rebound and force the Sensation of Submission to give it up.
David: While we get the ring cleaned up, let's take a look at the history between Ronin Fox and Cynric and the Pyro Twins.
(A recap video airs on the last couple of months of encounters between the Pyro Twins and Ronin Fox/Cynric.)
(In the arena, "Did My Time" hits and Ronin Fox and Cynric make their way to the ring.)
David: Two legitimate brothers, Ronin Fox and Cynric, feel this is their night. They hope to be the ones to dethrone the Pyro Twins and take home the Tag Team Championship.
Dick: They've had a phenomenal run since they started teaming regularly, but now it's time for the ultimate test.
("Burning Times" hits and the Pyro Twins make their way to the ring.)
David: The Pyro Twins have been dominant tag champs ever since they took them off of the UK Wrecking Crew back at the MECCA Challenge II, and they don't look like they're about to let go anytime soon.
Dick: If anyone has come close to taking those belts, it was Fox and Cynric at Midsummer Night Slam in that Match of the Year candidate. The Pyro Twins want to get a clean win here and get rid of that doubt that Fox and Cynric may have their number.
MECCA Tag Team Championship: The Pyro Twins vs. Ronin Fox and Cynric
Referee: David Bowers
(FINISH: The Pyro Twins hit Final Darkness on Fox, and Jay covers, but suddenly the UK Wrecking Crew run out. Fletcher gets on the apron, distracting the ref, and Nathans pulls Jay off of Fox and drags him to the outside. They duke it out as Dusty comes over to jaw with Fletcher. He moves just as Cynric goes for a dropkick, taking down Fletcher. Dusty gives Cynric a teardrop suplex as Jay sends Nathans into the guardrail. He gets back in the ring and gives Cynric a backbreaker. Dusty goes up top for the Mandate of Heaven, but Fletcher gets a chair and threatens to hit Dusty with it. Fox comes back in and nails Jay with a spinning heel kick from behind, and then crotches Dusty. He goes to the outside and grabs Dusty by the shirt. He throws him right at Fletcher, who nails Dusty in the head with the chair as Nathans distracts the ref. Cynric gives Jay the Lift Off and Fox covers, but Jay barely manages to kick out at two. Cynric hoists Jay up on his shoulders, and Fox goes up top. They hit the Dead End, and Fox covers and gets the three count.)
Winners: Ronin Fox and Cynric
David: Ronin Fox and Cynric have beaten the Pyro Twins, and we have new MECCA Tag Team Champions!
Dick: What a great match that was, and the fans are letting them know it!
David: But what was up with the UK Wrecking Crew out here? They just cost Dusty and Jay the tag titles!
Dick: I guess their issue with the Pyro Twins isn't quite as over as we expected, David.
(Fox and Cynric leave triumphant as the UK Wrecking Crew stands over Jay. Instead of attacking him, they scuff their heels at him as if kicking dirt on him before leaving the ringside area.)
David: What disrespect by Nathans and Fletcher, and you can bet the Pyro Twins are going to be on the warpath when they come to. Up next, the feud between Nykk and Trent Acid culminates in a Pipe on a Pole Match. It's been a roller coaster ride this summer for Nykk, and it all started with Trent Acid and a lead pipe.
(Clips are shown highlighting the Nykk/Acid feud.)
(In the arena, the camera focuses on a pole attached the corner. A lead pipe dangles from it.)
David: You see the pole that officials have attached to the ring. The man who gets to the pipe will get to use it in this match.
("I'm a Soldier" hits and Trent Acid makes his way to the ring.)
David: Trent Acid revealed on Go Time that he never was infatuated with Lisa Letty, but knew she had Nykk's heart, so he used that to get into a feud with the boss and elevate himself up the card. Tonight, he plans on finishing the job.
Dick: Acid has won every singles encounter he's had with Nykk so far, so he has to be full of confidence right now.
("Destroy" hits and Nykk makes his way to the ring.)
David: Nykk has had quite a summer, as he finally told Lisa Letty how he felt about her, only to have a bombshell dropped on him that stated he could not fraternize with the talent and still remain owner of MECCA. It looked like Nykk was going to choose love over business when Lisa herself ended the relationship, knowing how much MECCA meant to Nykk.
Dick: You have to wonder if Nykk will be able to focus on this match with all that's been happening. Trent Acid has shown himself to be a great opportunist throughout this entire feud and he could capitalize big time tonight.
Pipe on a Pole Match: Nykk vs. Trent Acid
Referee: Matt Hitchcock
(FINISH: Nykk finally manages to get the pipe down just as Acid picks up a chair. Nykk swings at Acid, but he puts the chair up to block it, and the pipe flies from Nykk's hands. Acid grabs the pipe and clocks Nykk upside the head with it. He gives him the Shovel Driver and covers, but Nykk barely manages to get a foot on the ropes at two. Acid is livid, and forearms Hitchcock to send him down. He picks Nykk up, tying him up between the top and middle ropes and then bounces off the opposite side to give him a Yakuza Kick. He tells Nykk that he's not through with him yet, and bounces off the ropes, giving him another Yakuza Kick. Lisa Letty suddenly runs out and slides into the ring, begging Acid to stop. Acid piefaces her and then grabs the chair, telling Nykk to watch as he smashes her face in. He raises the chair just as Nykk manages to get free from the ropes. He grabs the pipe and uses it to clip Acid in the knee. Acid and Nykk both go down and lie on the mat. They get to their feet, each with a weapon, and Nykk hits the chair with the pipe, sending it back into Acid's face. He goes down, and Nykk picks up him, debuting Howling Moon III, a reverse Falcon Arrow. He covers just as Hitchcock comes to and makes the three count.)
Winner: Nykk
David: Nykk has won the feud against Trent Acid, and he finally paid him back for costing him the Six Man Apocalypse Match back in June!
Dick: But what's Lisa Letty doing out here? I thought she and Nykk were over.
David: Obviously Lisa still feels a great deal of love for Nykk, and couldn't bear to see him take any more punishment. If Acid hadn't been so intent on attacking her, he may very well have won the match and sent Nykk to the hospital.
(As Nykk gets to his feet, Lisa starts apologizing, saying that she's sorry, but she just couldn't stand by and watch him be hurt like that. Nykk gets a mic.)
Nykk: I'm sorry, Lisa... I just got bashed in the head a few dozen times, and I can't seem to hear you too well over this great crowd... so...
(He hands her the mic.)
Lisa: Nykk, I'm so sorry! I just couldn't stand by... I had to come out here, I care more... I mean...
(Nykk takes the mic.)
Nykk: Thank you. I'm not really good at this kind of thing, especially with my brains roaming free inside my skull right now, but... Lisa, being with you has been the happiest time of my life. I would do anything for you. And you proved the same, after you gave us up so that I could live my dream... but Lisa, what I care about most in this world is now you. And if that means I have to give up running this company, well, in the grand scheme of things that's a small price to pay. Because I love you, Lisa Letty, and there is nothing in this world that is going to keep me from you!
(Nykk takes her hand and kisses it, but Lisa throws her arms around Nykk and they embrace. They kiss as "Edge of Seventeen" hits.)
David: Nykk and Lisa are together again! Nykk has given up ownership of MECCA for love, and Lisa has accepted it!
Dick: It's been an emotional year for those two, but what will become of Nykk's ownership now that he has chosen Lisa?
(Nykk holds the ropes open for Lisa, and they walk up the aisle, arm in arm.)
David: The status of fifty percent of this company remains to be decided, but for now we continue with our program as up next we have the Toughman Title Match. Kevin Stone has been trying to get under Alan Mayse's skin for weeks by calling him out, and then accusing him of having no guts because he didn't accept the challenge face to face. But now it's time to find out just who is the toughest man in MECCA.
("At the End of the Rainbow" hits and Kevin Stone makes his way to the ring.)
David: Kevin Stone is a former MECCA Champion, a title that Mayse cannot lay claim to, but now Stone has vowed to get back on track and win the Toughman Title here tonight.
Dick: Perhaps the most dangerous man in MECCA has his sights set on Mayse and his title, and he does hold a victory over Mayse in a MECCA title defense back at Bloody Valentine.
("Seven Nation Army" hits and Alan Mayse makes his way to the ring.)
David: Alan has defended that belt against all comers, most recently with a successful defense over Jamie Chan of Stage One a few weeks back, but Stone is a different animal entirely.
Dick: There's a reason why he's called the MECCA Monster. Alan can't take him lightly one bit.
MECCA Toughman Championship: Alan Mayse vs. Kevin Stone
Referee: Keith Young
(FINISH: A fight breaks out almost immediately, and it doesn't stop throughout the entire match. It goes all over the arena, and eventually ends up back in the ring. Stone boots Alan in the face as he's trying to enter the ring, and Alan falls to the floor. Stone goes to the other side of the ring, and grabs a chair. He gets back in the ring, and Young tries to take it away. Stone throws Young aside as Alan enters with a chair of his own. Young tries to stop him, but Alan takes a swing at him. The ref ducks, and Alan and Stone go at each other. After a few moments of dueling chairs, Alan cracks Kevin over the head. He charges, but Stone forearms Alan's chair, sending it back into his face. They degenerate into a fistfight, and Young tries to get between them once again. When he's shoved to the mat once more, he finally calls for the bell and throws the match out.)
Winner: No Contest
David: This match has been thrown out, as Stone and Mayse have completely lost control, and are going way beyond the relaxed rules of a Toughman Title Match!
Dick: It's one thing to brawl all over the arena, as there are no count-outs in a Toughman Title Match, but you can be disqualified for use of a foreign object or interference. Young just had enough of getting manhandled and had no choice.
(Officials come out and separate the two. Stone gets out of the ring and yells at Alan, causing him to come over and dive down onto Stone with a pescado. They continue brawling in the aisle.)
David: They aren't stopping. This started simply as a matter of Stone wanting the Toughman Title, but Alan was not about to have his honor questioned, and took it personally. Now we've got a donnybrook on our hands!
("The Final Countdown" hits and Bryan Danielson makes his way to the ring.)
David: Now what? It's time for our main event, but you would think that the challenger for the MECCA World Championship would wait until this brawl had been broken up.
Dick: This is Bryan Danielson. No one tells him how to wrestle, and no one tells him when to make his ring entrance. He claims to be the best wrestler in the world, and he certainly has a legitimate claim.
(Danielson gets a mic.)
Danielson: Ah-hem, ah-hem, ah-hem... ah-hem... you can have all the Toughman brawls you want, but when that bell rings, that means your match is over, and it's time for the next MECCA World Champion to come out here and claim his prize. Eddie Crowe, you claim to be Harbinger of Sorrow, but the only sorrow I'm going to feel is the fact that I had to win the MECCA Championship in the city of St. Paul... oh, wait... wait... I'm sorry... you're telling me this is Minneapolis? It's the same damn city, people, and if you didn't have such a duality complex, maybe the Minnesota Twins could win a World Series sometime in this decade! But you can always say that tonight was the night that the American Dragon won the MECCA World Championship, and one day you can tell your grandchildren about it... and the story can be passed down from generation to generation until everyone remembers Eddie Crowe as the champion who lost to Bryan Danielson!
("Noots" hits and Eddie Crowe makes his way to the ring.)
David: Danielson is as cocky as he ever was, and he believes that tonight is his night. But our MECCA World Champion may have something different to say about it.
Dick: Eddie Crowe lost the fall to Danielson in a tag match back at Liberty or Death, and that loss is still haunting him. If he lets Danielson's confidence get to him, we could have a new champ.
Jared: Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining us this evening here at Summertime Showdown! This is the main event, and it is for the MECCA World Championship! Introducing first, the challenger... from Aberdeen, Washington... weighing in at 189 lbs... (Danielson whispers something in his ear) and once again, the best wrestler to ever compete in the state of Minnesota... "American Dragon" Bryaaan Danielsooooon! And his opponent... from Bellbrook, Ohio... weighing in at 195 lbs... he is the current reigning and defending MECCA World Champion... Eddieeee Croooooowe!
MECCA World Championship: Eddie Crowe vs. Bryan Danielson
Referee: David Bowers
(FINISH: Eddie bounces off the ropes, but Danielson intercepts him with jumping headbutts. He goes for a roaring forearm, but Eddie ducks and hits a roundhouse kick to the chest. He gives Danielson a running brainbuster, and then signals for the Eddie Dive. He bounces off the second turnbuckle, but Danielson moves. Eddie manages to land on his feet, and kicks back at Danielson's midsection. He gives him a standing enzugiri, and whips him into the corner. He goes for a running dropkick, but Danielson comes out of the corner with the roaring forearm. Eddie ducks again, but gets hit with a second one. Danielson goes for Cattle Mutilation, but Eddie fights it. Danielson executes a tiger suplex and then segues into Cattle Mutilation. Eddie almost taps out, but manages to get one foot over the bottom rope just as he loses consciousness. Danielson picks him up and goes for a Regalplex, but Eddie punches him in the face. He gives him a Saito Suplex and then hits the Eddie Dive. He covers, but Danielson barely gets his foot on the bottom rope. Eddie applies a cobra clutch and goes for the Russian legsweep, but Danielson counters into the Crossface Chickenwing. Eddie fights it, but Danielson finally gets his fingers locked and drops down for the body scissors. Eddie immediately turns Danielson to his back, getting a close two count. Danielson releases the hold to kick out, and then kicks Eddie in the face. He bounces off the ropes and gives him a European uppercut. He gives him another one that sends him reeling back into the ropes. Danielson tells the crowd he's got one more, and goes to the top rope. Eddie climbs the turnbuckles and slugs it out with Danielson. Dragon gives him some headbutts to send him to the mat, but Eddie jumps up and hits an enzugiri, staggering Danielson. Eddie backs up and charges, jumping to the top rope and hitting a super brainbuster. He covers and gets the three count.)
Winner: Eddie Crowe
David: Eddie Crowe has done it, and will remain MECCA World Champion! What a great match, a definite Match of the Year Candidate, as Danielson gave it his all, but in the end Eddie's will to win was that much more!
Dick: That was as stiff as anything we've ever seen in MECCA, and maybe more! Both these guys deserve all the credit in the world, but at this point there may be no one who can dethrone Eddie Crowe.
(Eddie poses with the belt, as refs help Danielson to the back.)
David: That's all for Summertime Showdown, fans. We'll see you all on Go Time this week, but for now this is David Mills and Dick Broccoli, saying good night!
