Countdown Match: Delirious and Dreamo vs. Kaientai Deluxe
Referee: Matt Hitchcock
(FINISH: Delirious goes for the Chemical Imbalance #2 on Teioh, but Teioh escapes and Togo forearms Delirious out of the ring. Dreamo hits KDX with a double dropkick, and Togo goes through the ropes. He hits the Dream Sequence on Teioh, then promptly falls asleep. Togo tags himself in and Caldwell tells him to just pin Dreamo. However, as Togo leans down, Medea Knight sets off the alarm clock and Dreamo cradles Togo for the three count.)
Winners: Delirious and Dreamo
(A video plays to the tune of "BYOB" by System of a Down. It cuts to the arena, where a small pyro display goes off.)
David: Welcome to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as MECCA returns to pay-per-view on this night, August 20 for Summer Showdown! I'm David Mills, along with Dick Broccoli, and we have a great card for you tonight.
Dick: Nykk defends his MECCA Championship against Low Ki in a Submission Match. It's the rubber match for these two, and this time the stakes are as high as it gets.
David: Also, Jay Crowe attempts revenge on the man who blackmailed him into joining his group, C.M. Punk.
Dick: Also, Lisa Letty attempts to wrest the Ladies' Title away from Shadow, plus the tag titles are on the line as the UKWC defend against Ronin Fox and Alan Mayse.
("The Leaving Song Part II" hits and Eddie Crowe makes his way to the ring.)
David: We're kicking things off with the man who all this SELF controversy has centered around, Eddie Crowe. It's because of him that the Pyro Twins joined Punk in the first place, and he actually took Punk's side when Jay had finally had enough, attacking his own brother.
Dick: Eddie has the talent to go all the way to the top here in MECCA. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he had gold by this time next year.
("Danger! High Voltage" hits and Spanky makes his way to the ring.)
David: Spanky is representing the Eccentric Alliance tonight, and of course this match came about because of a sneak attack by Eddie, who was angry that Spanky pinned him back at the eight-man tag at Liberty or Death.
Dick: Eddie's determined to erase that blemish on his record, but he can't underestimate Spanky. Spanky is one of the most talented wrestlers to come along in the past five years, and this goofy front he puts up is just that. The kid can beat you a thousand different ways.
Spanky vs. Eddie Crowe
Referee: Keith Young
(FINISH: Spanky goes for Sliced Bread #2, but Eddie counters by slamming Spanky face first into the mat. He applies a version of the Crowe's Nest where he applies the cobra clutch and sits across the back. Spanky manages to make it to the ropes. Eddie releases the hold and whips Spanky into the ropes. He knees him and goes for the Gutwrench Driver, but Spanky counters with a headscissors takeover. Spanky charges Eddie, who moves out of the way. Spanky jumps to the second turnbuckle and jumps backwards, landing on Eddie's shoulders. He gives Eddie a reverse hurricanrana and covers for a close two count. He goes for Sliced Bread #2 again, but Eddie shoves him into the turnbuckles. He grabs a waistlock, but Spanky reverses it. He slams Eddie down to the mat and spins around him, but Eddie counters into a hammerlock and goes for a Magistral Cradle. However, instead of pinning him, Eddie pulls him up and nails the Gutwrench Driver. He covers and gets the three count.)
Winner: Eddie Crowe
David: And the last remnant of the Eccentric Alliance vs. SELF feud comes to an end, as Eddie Crowe pins Spanky.
Dick: Eddie just gets better and better in every match. For him to beat an international star like Spanky is a big deal. If Jay happens to run up against him sooner or later, I wouldn't make a sure bet on older brother schooling younger brother.
David: Up next, the grudge match of the summer. Cynric will try to take revenge on his former partner Kevin Stone, and this time it will be Anything Goes.
Dick: Stone won at Liberty or Death a month ago through dubious means, and their rematch on Go Time broke down before it could really get started. Of course, that ended with the infamous visual of Kevin spiking Katie Piehl with the Stone Cutter.
("At the End of the Rainbow" hits and Kevin Stone makes his way to the ring.)
David: Stone is looking to get to the top of MECCA, but to do that, he needs to shake off his past. If he can get by Cynric here tonight, his stock will definitely go up.
Dick: Not only that, he'll get to keep his spot on the Contender Star, which is on the line every time he competes in a singles match.
("Soul Creation" hits and Cynric makes his way to the ring.)
David: These two brawlers are going to tear the house down. This is going to be wild.
Dick: Cynric let his desire for revenge cloud his thinking last month. Now that he knows he can do anything to Stone that he wants, I don't know if that will be a factor working in Stone's favor this time around.
Anything Goes Match: Cynric vs. Kevin Stone
Referee: David Bowers
(Stone attacks Cynric as he gets in the ring, and Bowers calls for the bell. Stone whips Cynric into the ropes, but Cynric reverses. However, Stone levels Cynric with a clothesline and then kicks him right in the solar plexus. Cynric rolls to the ropes, gasping for breath. Stone grabs him by the hair and hammers his back with overhead forearms. He headbutts Cynric, who backs into a corner. He hits Cynric in the face a couple of times and then hits him again in the solar plexus. He gives him a back elbow and whips him to the opposite corner. Cynric strikes the turnbuckles hard and holds his ribs. Stone hits him with a running clothesline and then twists aside, clotheslining the back of Cynric's head to send him down. He tells the crowd it's that easy, and picks Cynric up in a military press, dropping him into a powerslam. He covers and gets a two count. He picks Cynric up and shoves him into a corner, nailing him with stiff rights. He goes for another headbutt, but Cynric catches Kevin's nose with his mouth, biting it. Stone screams in pain as Cynric draws blood. Finally, Cynric lets go and headbutts Stone himself. He spits Kevin's own blood into his eyes and then hits a rolling koppo kick, knocking Stone halfway across the ring. Stone gets to his knees and ducks a roundhouse kick, only to catch a reverse roundhouse to the head when Cynric changes directions. Cynric slams Stone and goes to the top rope, hitting an elbow smash. He covers and gets a two count. Cynric calls for the Lift Off, but Stone rolls out of the ring to avoid it. Cynric bounces off the ropes and hits Stone with a somersault plancha. He goes under the ring and emerges with a martial arts bag. He unzips it and takes out two tonfas. He beats on Stone with a combination flurry before sending him over the guardrail with a side kick. He beats on Stone in the crowd for a while, but finally Kevin picks up a chair and blasts Cynric in the face with it. Stone nails Cynric across the back with the chair and tosses it aside. He whips Cynric into the guardrail and charges him, nailing a big boot that sends Cynric back to ringside. He lifts Cynric by the hair and hits an overhead forearm, followed by a knee to the face. He does the same thing, this time switching the arm and knee he does it with. He follows up with a clothesline that sends Cynric down. Kevin advances on the timekeeper's table and roars furiously. Staff members scatter, and Stone clears the table, throwing it into the ring.)
David: Stone has turned vicious here, and it looks like he's thinking about doing some permanent damage to Cynric.
Dick: Cynric hasn't gotten a whole lot in the way of offense yet, as Stone has just been too overpowering. He can't let this continue, or this is going to be a real short victory for Kevin.
(Cynric reaches into his bag and brings out a pair of nunchukus as Stone comes over. He grabs Cynric's hair and tries to drag him into the ring, but Cynric retaliates with a blow to the head with the nunchukus. Stone staggers back, rocking. Cynric slides in, and Kevin goes for a clothesline, but Cynric whacks his arm with the nunchukus. He unleashes a flurry of strikes on Stone, bringing him to his knees and then brings the two ends of the nunchukus together, smashing them into the back of Kevin's head. Cynric gets a chair from ringside and sets it up in the ring. He leans a groggy Stone up against it, and prepares for the Lift Off. He goes for it, attempting to smash Stone's head into the chair, but Stone moves. Cynric overshoots the chair and then kicks back at it, sending it sailing into Stone's face. Kevin falls to the mat, and Cynric covers for a close two count. He goes for the Shock Cannon, but Stone escapes and pushes him into the ropes. He goes for the Stone Crusher, but Cynric counters into a Fujiwara Armbar. He lets up and gives Stone a couple of kicks to the back of the head. He bounces off the ropes and dropkicks Stone. He goes for the Lift Off again, but Stone suddenly charges him and brings him down with a spear. Stone powerbombs Cynric and then sets up the table. He sets Cynric on the top rope and then goes up, preparing for a top rope Stone Cutter through the table. Cynric fights his way out of it and gets on the other side of the turnbuckles. He headbutts Stone a couple of times and then gives him a superplex through the table. He covers, but Stone just barely manages to kick out. Cynric whips Stone into a corner and charges, but Stone gets a foot up. However, Cynric catches his foot and throws it down, stepping in to nail a spinning roundhouse. He hits an enzugiri, and Stone falls out of the corner. Cynric goes up top for a top rope front kick, but Stone crotches him. He goes up with Cynric and hammers him, but Cynric fights back and goes for the Shockwave Pulsar. He gets Stone up, but when he comes off the top rope, Stone counters into a Stone Cutter. Stone covers immediately, but Cynric just manages to get a foot on the rope. Enraged, Stone picks up the nunchukus and wraps the chain around Cynric's throat. Cynric struggles, but Stone headbutts him until he stops. Bowers pleads with Stone to stop before he kills him, but Kevin brings Cynric back to the corner and sits on the top rope, yanking Cynric up by the throat. Cynric starts to turn blue, and loses consciousness. Bowers quickly drops Cynric's hand three times and calls for the bell.)
Winner: Kevin Stone
David: Kevin Stone wins after choking out Cynric, but someone needs to make him stop! The match is over!
Dick: Stone has lost it again! That's the same look as when he nearly broke Katie Piehl's neck!
(More referees and officials come out to break it up, but Stone merely gets off the turnbuckles and falls back, wrapping his legs around Cynric while choking him. Finally, Ronin Fox runs out and pulls Stone off. Stone doesn't go after Fox, but just points at him and tells him that he's next.)
David: Fox came out to help his brother, and it looks like he just incurred Stone's wrath.
Dick: We've seen that Kevin Stone will stop at nothing to get to the top of MECCA, and he's now gotten two victories over his former partner. There's not a whole hell of a lot more that stands between him and the MECCA Championship.
David: Well, while we get order established again, our next event will be held on September 24 from the Agora Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio, and it will be At Your Own Risk. Tickets are on sale now.
(A clip of the Joey Sprinklers/Trent Acid fight from the previous Go Time is shown.)
(In the arena, "Hit That" hits and Joey Sprinklers skateboards his way to the ring.)
David: We have a bonus match for you tonight. After what happened on Go Time, Acid demanded to get his hands on Joey and Nykk signed this match.
Dick: In whose mind is Joey Sprinklers a bonus? The guy hasn't won a match yet.
David: Well, I guess there are dumber reasons to have a match. At least they're not spilling coffee on each other.
("Closer" hits and Trent Acid makes his way to the ring.)
David: How embarrassing it would be if Trent Acid were to be the first victory for Joey after making such a stink about what happened earlier in the week.
Dick: Acid's shown a lot more promise since joining SELF and cleaning himself up. He hasn't won a lot of matches, but he could easily shift momentum in his favor if he were to beat Joey tonight.
Joey Sprinklers vs. Trent Acid
Referee: Keith Young
(FINISH: Acid crotches Joey on the top turnbuckle and then goes up for a backdrop superplex. Joey elbows his way out of it, and Acid turns. Joey hooks him and gives him a Gory Bomb from the top rope. He covers, but Acid barely kicks out. Joey goes for Da Sprinklanator, but Acid kicks him in the nuts as he's lifted, undetected by Young. Acid quickly bounces off the ropes and gives him the Yakuza Kick, covering and putting his feet on the ropes for the three count.)
Winner: Trent Acid
David: Acid gets the victory over Joey, but Joey came so close to scoring his first victory here in MECCA.
Dick: I think Joey may now have Acid's bootprint permanently tattooed to the side of his head.
David: Give Joey credit for still being here and trying, even though his record doesn't speak too highly of him. Up next, the rematch from Midsummer Night Slam. At that event, Lisa Letty was betrayed by her friend Shadow, who traded their friendship to become leader of the Dangerous Liaison and gain the Ladies' Title. Now, Lisa is back and there will be no surprise betrayal to distract her tonight.
("Edge of Seventeen" hits and Lisa Letty makes her way to the ring.)
David: The former Ladies' Champion carried the belt with pride, dignity and a willingness to stay at the top of her game. What has Shadow done? Book her own challengers and play favorites.
Dick: Lisa wants to kill Shadow's title reign, but all that determination could mean nothing if the Dangerous Liaison gets involved.
("Gangsta Bitch" hits and Shadow makes her way to the ring.)
David: Shadow's alone for now, and I think she's still upset that Lisa was able to corner her this past week on Go Time.
Dick: Lisa's words shook Shadow more than any violent act could have, but we shouldn't count Shadow out. All things aside, she has had some tough challenges in keeping the Ladies' Title.
MECCA Ladies' Championship: Lisa Letty vs. Shadow
Referee: Nikki Alvarado
(As soon as the bell rings, Lisa makes a beeline for Shadow. However, Shadow ducks out of the ring and shouts at Lisa to behave herself. Lisa slides out of the ring and gives chase, and Shadow runs. She slides back into the ring, with Lisa in hot pursuit, only to slide back out again. Lisa throws up her hands in frustration as Shadow smirks at her and points to her own head, saying that's why she's the champ. Finally, Alvarado orders Shadow in, and Shadow gets on the apron. Lisa charges her, but Alvarado holds her back. Shadow takes the opportunity to circle around the ring and come in from behind. She gives Lisa a double axehandle to the back to send her down, and starts pummeling her. She kicks her in the face, and Lisa backs into a corner. Shadow hits her with several forearms and then snapmares her over, giving her a stiff kick to the back. She whips Lisa into the corner, but Lisa reverses. Shadow gets into the ropes as Lisa charges her, and Alvarado is forced to hold her back. As she's struggling with Lisa, Gail Kim and LuFisto come in through the crowd and crouch down at ringside. Lisa still tries to get at Shadow, but Shadow pokes her in the eye and throws her shoulder first into the ringpost. Shadow makes a show of going after her, but Alvarado holds her back this time. LuFisto and Kim come into the ring and team up on Lisa, hitting her with rights and forcing her to the mat. They mimic Shadow by giving her double stomps and then leave ringside, smiling and taunting Lisa. Shadow gives Lisa a running knee and covers for a one count. She yanks Lisa up by the hair and applies an armwringer. She steps over and gives Lisa a mule kick, followed by a drop toehold. She finishes with an elbow drop to the back of the head. Shadow goes to the top rope and tries a moonsault, but Lisa gets her knees up. Shadow writhes on the mat and they both start to get to their feet. Lisa nails a dropkick to the knee, finally taking Shadow down. Lisa comes back with some hard rights, but Shadow retaliates with a kick to the midsection. She bounces off the ropes, but Lisa tackles her and hits her with some more furious rights. She snapmares Shadow over and kicks her in the back of the head, following up by spinning and ducking to one knee, chopping Shadow to her back. She finishes by bouncing off the ropes and hitting a senton splash. She covers and gets a two count. She gives Shadow an armwringer slam, and then applies the armwringer again, stepping over and jumping down across the arm. When Shadow stands up, Lisa kicks at the back of her knee to send her back down. She whips Shadow into the ropes, but Shadow reverses and puts her head down. Lisa responds by sliding between her legs while on her back and cradling her with her legs into a victory roll, getting two. She gives Shadow a Japanese Armdrag and then hits a lungblower. She goes for the Letty Stretch, but Shadow sprawls out to avoid it and grabs Lisa's legs, taking her to her back. She goes for a slingshot, but Lisa jumps to the second turnbuckle. Shadow sees her and charges, but Lisa jumps backwards and lands on her feet. Shadow charges again, but gets a backbreaker.)
David: Shadow tried using Lisa's desire for revenge against her in the early going, but it looks to have backfired. Lisa's hit the ground running, and nothing Shadow is doing is stopping her.
Dick: Lisa's targeting two sensitive areas. She's working over the arms, softening them up for the Letty Stretch, and going after the legs. I'm not sure why, but maybe she has something in mind.
(Lisa applies a leglace, but Shadow quickly makes it to the ropes. Lisa yanks Shadow off the ropes and then gives her some modified dragonscrews on the mat. She gives Shadow an armbar suplex and then goes for the Letty Stretch again. Shadow rams her into the corner and tries to get away, but Lisa charges out with a dropkick to the arm. Lisa gives her a flapjack, and then goes for a vertical suplex. However, she leaves Shadow hanging for too long, and Shadow starts swinging her legs. Lisa loses her balance and starts to back toward the ropes. Shadow falls to the outside, giving Lisa a hangman's neckbreaker across the top rope. Lisa's head snaps back violently, and she falls to the mat while clutching her neck. Shadow quickly recovers, though limping from landing on her feet on the floor, and slides back in. She kicks Lisa in the head as she tries to get up and then hits a swinging neckbreaker. She covers and gets a two count. Shadow grinds her forearm into Lisa's face and then slaps her. She forearms Lisa in the back of the head a couple of times, and then gives her a back suplex. Shadow goes for the dragon sleeper, and applies it, but Lisa won't let her hook the bodyscissors. She hits Shadow in the arm that she's been working on, but Shadow drops Lisa's head across her knee and then stands back up, giving her a reverse DDT. She covers and gets a two count. Shadow protests as Lisa gets to a sitting position. Shadow locks in a headscissors and falls back to the mat. Lisa tries to hook the rope with her feet, but Shadow shifts her position so that Lisa can't reach. Lisa starts to fade, but then starts striking at the knee she's been working over. Shadow nearly loses her grip, but at the last moment turns over, taking Lisa with her. She pushes off the mat and uses her lower body to bang Lisa's head into the mat multiple times, though it hurts her own knee. She turns back over into the headscissors, and Lisa is showing very little motion.)
David: Lisa may be done. I think that neckbreaker across the ropes hurt her bad, and Shadow's been ruthless in exploiting that weakness.
Dick: It wouldn't be the first time an unfortunate moment has been the downfall of a competitor. Shadow's gotten control back, and she's learned from earlier that you don't let Lisa get into a groove. She's going to keep control at all possible cost.
(Alvarado drops Lisa's hand twice, but on the third time Lisa keeps her arm up. She starts to come to, and tries to struggle out of the hold, though she's cutting off her own oxygen. Shadow starts to lose her grip so she tries to turn her over again, but Lisa won't let her bang her head into the mat this time. She puts her hands down to stop Shadow, and then does a headstand. After a few moments, she slips out of the hold and lands on her feet. Shadow tries to get up, but gets dropkicked in the back of the head. Lisa's equilibrium seems to be off as she gets more oxygen into her brain, but she hits Shadow with some desperate rights. She bounces off the ropes and goes for a flying headscissors takeover, but Shadow sits out and plants Lisa face first. She covers, and gets a close two count. Shadow takes off her elbow pad and signals for the Interceptor. She bounces off the ropes, but Lisa ducks. She goes for a shinbreaker, but starts to fall backwards, so she dumps Shadow's knee onto the second turnbuckle. She whips Shadow to the opposite corner, but Shadow reverses and charges. Lisa elbows her in the face and then goes to the second turnbuckle, hitting the Letty Press. She rolls off Shadow, too tired to cover, and Alvarado starts the ten count. At eight, both are up and Shadow kicks Lisa. She whips her into the ropes, but Lisa gives her a flying headscissors takeover, followed by a running forearm that shoots Shadow back into the corner. She gives Shadow a brainbuster, and segues into the Letty Stretch. Due to the positioning of the arms, Shadow can't reach the ropes even though she's close. After a few agonizing moments, Shadow scoots a bit closer and presses her forehead to the bottom rope. Lisa is forced to break the hold, but gets in some paintbrushing and several insulting slaps. She goes to the top rope and prepares for a bulldog, but Shadow crotches her on the top rope and then beels her back to the middle of the ring. She counts down from three as Lisa gets up and nails the Interceptor. However, she doesn't go for the cover and positions Lisa for a double stomp from the top. Furious at being insulted, Shadow goes up and goes for the double stomp. However, Lisa moves and Shadow lands on her feet, twisting her knee. Shadow cries out in pain and limps around the ring. She tries to kick Lisa, but Lisa catches her foot and gives her a dragonscrew legwhip. She quickly applies a figure four leglock, and Shadow screams in pain. She reaches for the ropes, but she's nowhere near them, and when she tries to turn it over, Lisa shifts her weight so that she can't. Finally, Shadow can't take it anymore and taps out.)
Winner: Lisa Letty
David: Lisa Letty has regained the Ladies' Championship with one of the oldest moves in the sport!
Dick: These two ladies were out to destroy each other, but partly thanks to Shadow losing her head at the end, we have our first two-time Ladies' Champ.
(Alvarado hands Lisa the belt. Lisa hugs it to her chest and then poses for the fans with it.)
David: Lisa is emotional, and rightfully so. I'm sure she feels validated for Shadow's betrayal two months ago now that she's got back what Shadow stole from her. Up next, ladies and gentlemen, is a match we knew had to be coming sooner or later. Finally fed up with C.M. Punk's treatment of his brother Eddie, Eddie's acceptance of that, and the ideals of SELF, Jay Crowe will attempt to gain revenge on the man who stole his own brother from him.
Dick: But the lingering question is where is Dusty Schneble? We haven't seen him with Punk or Crowe since the destruction of SELF.
("Miseria Cantare" hits and C.M. Punk makes his way to the ring, along with Eddie Crowe.)
David: It was Punk who tried to use his group the Straight Edge Lifestyle Foundation to dominate MECCA, and for a number of months, it worked. Jay and Dusty were forced to join Punk out of fear of what he'd do to Jay's brother and Dusty's best friend, Eddie Crowe.
Dick: Punk knew the Pyro Twins were the best tag team in wrestling, and he just had to get them into his fold. But are the Pyro Twins no more? Is Dusty willing to risk the emotional scarring that Eddie could receive, or does he stand by his longtime tag team partner?
("Burning Times" hits and Jay Crowe makes his way to the ring.)
David: Jay Crowe has been waiting for this moment for months. He's finally accepted that Eddie is a man who must make his own destiny, and if he's unwilling to accept help from his own brother, he'll just have to learn from his own mistakes the hard way.
(Jay tries to get at Punk, but Eddie stands between them. Jay won't hit his own brother.)
Dick: Even so, Jay better get over this thing he has about violence against Eddie. If he doesn't, Punk is going to use that to his advantage.
Jay Crowe vs. C.M. Punk
Referee: David Bowers
(FINISH: Eddie is used to shield Punk throughout the match, but when Bowers gets knocked out, Eddie actually comes into the ring and gives Jay a German Suplex. Punk gets a chair and Eddie holds Jay for him. Jay moves, however, and Eddie takes the chairshot. Punk kicks Jay and gives him Welcome to Chicago, and then gets an evil smile on his face. He hits Jay in the face with the chair, and then drags Eddie up to the top rope. He gives Eddie the Pepsi Plunge onto Jay's prone body. He starts yelling, "Look at you now! I've just killed two Crowes with one stone! Your whole family's worthless, and you two are just pawns to die for my cause! Now, you face your Maker and await your judgment!" He drags Jay up to the turnbuckles and starts to set up for the Pepsi Plunge, but Jay hooks him and hits a spinning spinebuster. As he and Punk get to their feet, "Burning Times" hits again and Dusty Schneble runs down to the ring. He makes no pretense of trying to decide who to go after, and attacks Jay. He pummels him with forearms and then hits him with a hard right, making Jay stagger back into the corner while Punk laughs. Punk tells him he made the right choice and gently pushes him aside so he can finish Jay. He moves in, but Jay answers with another hard right. Punk reels backwards, right into Final Darkness. Dusty leans down and tells Punk, "You may think you're ascending to the heavens, but you forgot that you can never control the raging fires of Hell! Get him, Jay!" Jay lifts Punk and gives him the Overhaul as Bowers finally comes to. He covers and gets the three count.)
Winner: Jay Crowe
David: I don't believe it, Jay Crowe is victorious and the Pyro Twins are together!
Dick: Punk's sweetest moment just turned into his worst nightmare.
David: Maybe now Eddie is going to see Punk for what he really is. He just told the Crowes what he really thinks of them, and used Eddie's body to try and add insult to injury on Jay.
(Eddie and Punk starts to come to, and Punk gets a mic.)
Punk: Hey, Pyro Twins... tonight you've shown me... that this place will never allow itself to be the utopia that I can make it. That means it's time for me to captivate yet another promotion and move up on the wrestling food chain. So MECCA, from the towel boy to the front office to you two ungrateful SOBs standing here can all kiss my ass. I quit! But in parting, I present to you this gift. (indicates Eddie) Enjoy!
(Punk laughs and exits the ring.)
David: Punk's quitting!? What did he mean by giving the Pyro Twins a gift. Eddie?
(Eddie looks longingly after Punk, tears in his eyes. He calls after him, but Punk leaves the arena. He turns around and sees that Dusty and Jay are offering their hands in friendship. Eddie seems torn, and takes a step toward his brother only to spit in his face. He quickly exits the ring and follows Punk, calling after him.)
David: I thought we were going to see a reconciliation there, but I guess what Punk meant is that even though he's not here his influence will be felt, as Eddie still seems to be enamored with him even after all that just happened.
Dick: Eddie still wants to follow Punk, but Punk just quit. What's going on around here?
David: Well, up next the MECCA Tag Team Championship is up for grabs as the UK Wrecking Crew defend against the team of Ronin Fox and Alan Mayse. Mayse has been chasing the tag titles all summer long, and this all started when he saved Fox from an unprovoked attack by the UKWC, which resulted in a match one week later.
(Clips from the Fox/Mayse vs. UKWC 8/9 match are shown.)
("Wherever I May Roam" hits and Ronin Fox and Alan Mayse make their way to the ring.)
David: Mayse and Fox haven't been teaming long, but they proved themselves more than capable against the UKWC, and perhaps would be tag team champions now if they hadn't been disqualified for using a chair that Nathans and Fletcher interjected into the match.
Dick: That was a smart move by the champs. They saw that they were losing control of the match, and bowed out to fight another day, still maintaining their undefeated streak.
("Ironman" hits and the UK Wrecking Crew makes its way to the ring.)
David: The undefeated tag champs look ready for this one. Though Fox and Mayse have the advantage in experience, the UKWC has that cohesiveness that it takes to get it done in tag team wrestling.
Dick: Absolutely. Personally, I don't think there's a team in MECCA right now that could beat them, and that includes the Pyro Twins.
MECCA Tag Team Championship: Ronin Fox and Alan Mayse vs. The UK Wrecking Crew
Referee: Keith Young
(FINISH: Fox and Alan hit a second rope powerbomb/neckbreaker combo on Nathans, and Fox covers. Young ushers Alan out of the ring as Fletcher brings in a chair again. Fox dropkicks it back into his face and starts to swing at Nathans, who almost seems to be expecting it, as Young turns around. However, Fox stops himself and throws the chair aside, charging Nathans and hitting the Tail End. He covers, but Fletcher puts Nathans's foot on the bottom rope and calls Young's attention to it. Alan clotheslines Fletcher off the apron and Young goes outside to get them into their corners. In the confusion, Fletcher slips into the ring as Fox goes for another Tail End. Nathans throws him off, and they kick Fox in the midsection, delivering a double brainbuster onto the chair. Nathans covers as Young comes back in. He makes the three count as Fletcher baseball slides into Alan.)
Winners: The UK Wrecking Crew
David: The treachery of the UK Wrecking Crew allows them to triumph once again. Dastardly!
Dick: That's a big win over two huge names in MECCA for the UKWC, and their tag team record remains untarnished.
David: It took a double brainbuster onto a chair to keep Fox down, but Nathans and Fletcher have managed to escape with the belts once again. Up next is our main event, a Submission Match for the MECCA Championship. Nykk vs. Low Ki, the Cedarleaf vs. the Dragon Ki Clutch! Earlier on, Bill Bicknell spoke with the challenger.
(Backstage, Bill Bicknell is standing by with Low Ki.)
Bill: I'm here with Low Ki, who will challenge for the MECCA Championship tonight against Nykk in a Submission Match, a match that was your suggestion, Low Ki. What was your reasoning behind that decision?
Low Ki: Bill, my reputation is well known by now. Everyone knows that I can beat anyone to a pulp, anywhere and at any time. But what the MECCA fans have not yet seen much of is my ability to make people tap, and tap very quickly. Nykk is a man who prides himself on his submission knowledge and ability, and that's exactly why I want to one up him and take his title in the process. This is my first title shot against the MECCA Champion, and one shot is all I need. Nykk, last month you got a fluke victory over me and tonight, I rectify that mistake. And when I stand over your stretched out body, poised with the MECCA Championship around my waist, you will see your precious promotion under my control.
(In the arena, "Fighter's Passion" hits and Low Ki makes his way to the ring.)
David: The main event is coming up now, and these two have been feuding all summer long. Low Ki scored the victory over Nykk back at Midsummer Night Slam, and Nykk scored the victory at Liberty or Death. Tonight, however, MECCA's biggest prize will be on the line.
Dick: Low Ki has to be excited that he's finally getting a shot at the MECCA Championship, considering he was one of the original five vying for the title at the beginning of the year.
("Destroy" hits and Nykk makes his way to the ring.)
David: Nykk earned the right to face the MECCA Champion when he beat Low Ki last month, and goaded C.M. Punk into putting his title on the line later that same night. The result was a new champ in Nykk, and probably the first straw in Punk's departure, which we witnessed earlier.
Dick: This is a Submission Match, so Low Ki has to keep in mind that he can knock Nykk out and drop him on his head all he wants, but Nykk has to give up to lose, and that's going to be a tough goal to accomplish. Ring announcer Jared Schrunk, take it away!
Jared: Ladies and gentlemen, this is your main event for this evening's Summer Showdown! This one-on-one contest will be for the MECCA Heavyweight Championship, and it will be a Submission Match. In this contest, pinfalls do not count, nor do count-outs or disqualifications. The only way to win is to force your opponent to submit. In the corner to my left, we have the challenger... from Brooklyn, New York, and weighing in at 170 lbs... Loooow Ki! And his opponent... from Bellbrook, Ohio, and weighing in at 225 lbs... he is the current MECCA Heavyweight Champion... this is Nyyyyykk!
Submission Match for the MECCA Heavyweight Championship: Nykk vs. Low Ki
Referee: David Bowers
(The bell rings, and Nykk goes for Low Ki. He goes for a double leg takedown, but Low Ki hits him hard with some forearms to the back and then kicks him in the face a couple of times. He shoves Nykk back and tells him to bring it, and Nykk charges again, going for the double leg takedown. Low Ki hits him with some more stiff forearms and knees him in the face. He goes for a big kick, but Nykk moves and trips Ki's other leg, causing him to fall to his back. Nykk goes for the Cedarleaf, but Low Ki quickly grabs the ropes. Nykk lets go, and Low Ki gets to his feet. They jockey for position with a Greco-roman knuckle lock, and Nykk gets the better of him. He forces Low Ki to his back, and Low Ki bridges up. Nykk jumps on top of him, but Low Ki doesn't go down. Nykk tries it again, and Low Ki lands a kick to the stomach. Nykk backs away and pulls Ki up involuntarily. Low Ki kicks away Nykk's right hand and then uses his freed hand to chop Nykk in the chest. He ducks under Nykk's arm and rolls him up with a crucifix, segueing into a double armbar. Nykk shortly gets a foot on the bottom rope, and Low Ki breaks the hold. He slaps Nykk as he gets up, and Nykk retaliates with a hard slap of his own. Low Ki charges him with some martial arts strikes, but Nykk avoids them. Low Ki tries a crescent kick, but Nykk falls to his back to avoid it and then immediately kips up. Ki tries a reverse crescent kick, but Nykk ducks again, blocks two palm strikes and headbutts Low Ki right between the eyes, staggering him. He steps toward him, but Low Ki spins and sweeps Nykk's legs. Nykk goes face first to the mat, and barely rolls to avoid a vicious stomp from Low Ki. He rolls to avoid another one and twists his legs around, tripping Low Ki and segueing into a backwards single leg crab. Low Ki refuses to tap, and Nykk gets his other leg, applying a full backwards crab. When Ki still refuses to tap, Nykk somersaults forward, causing Low Ki to go with him and snap over to land face first on the mat. Nykk lifts both knees and slams them into the mat. He bounces off the ropes as Ki gets into a sitting position and kicks him hard in the face. He applies an Indian Deathlock, and Low Ki has to scramble to make it to the ropes. Nykk lets go, but walks into a palm strike to the throat. Low Ki gets to his feet and whips Nykk into the corner. He goes for the Tidal Crush, but Nykk moves. Low Ki stops himself before he can kick the post, and vaults off the second turnbuckle for a modified Tidal Wave. However, Nykk avoids it and picks Ki up wheelbarrow style. He bounces his body off the top rope and then hooks a standing dragon sleeper, crouching down to stretch Low Ki even more. After a few moments of agony, Low Ki hits Nykk with his free hand, and Nykk slams him to the mat. He goes for the Trinity, and gets the back suplex, followed by the German, but Low Ki blocks the dragon. He executes a modified jawbreaker to break out of the full nelson and bounces off the ropes, only to be nailed with a running back elbow. He applies a reverse headscissors, but Low Ki manages to get a foot on the ropes.)
David: Surprisingly enough, Nykk has dominated this encounter thus far. Before, it was always Low Ki who took the early advantage.
Dick: Nykk tricked Low Ki into thinking he was going to play his game, and then brought the mat wrestling and submission holds with a vengeance.
David: You'll notice that Low Ki has been making good use of rope breaks. Even though the ref can't disqualify anyone for not breaking a hold, no submissions or tap outs will count while a wrestler is in the ropes.
(Nykk kicks at the back of Low Ki's knee and then gives him a backbreaker. He drives a knee into Low Ki's back and then goes up top. He goes for the Swan Splash, but Low Ki moves. He gives Nykk some Kawada Kicks, and then some Mongolian Chops. Nykk goes for a European Uppercut, but Low Ki blocks it and takes Nykk's arm, pulling him right into a rolling koppo kick. He gives Nykk some chops to the back of the neck, and then whips him into the corner. Nykk reverses, but Low Ki gets a boot up. He vaults off the second rope and gives Nykk the Tidal Wave to the back of the head. He goes for the Dragon Ki Clutch, but Nykk manages to make it to his feet and propels himself upward, escaping and landing behind Low Ki. He tries a clothesline, but Low Ki floats over into the Iron Octopus. Nykk eventually fades and begins to lose his balance. He tries ramming Low Ki into the corner, but Ki refuses to let go of the hold. Finally, Nykk passes out, but manages to fall backwards through the ropes, taking Low Ki to the floor with him. Ki gets to his feet first, and chops Nykk across the chest. Nykk fires back with a European Uppercut, and they exchange a few more chops and uppercuts. Finally, Nykk fakes an uppercut and whips Low Ki into the guardrail, charging and hitting a dropkick to the knee. He rolls Low Ki into the ring and goes to the top rope, but Low Ki catches him with a kick. Ki pulls Nykk down backwards into the Hanging Dragon, and Bowers counts to five before telling Low Ki to break the hold. Ki finally breaks it, leaving Nykk in the tree of woe. He gives Nykk a couple of kicks and then goes to the top rope. Nykk realizes what's coming and pulls Low Ki's head down, pelting him with rights. Ki responds with a couple of headbutts to free himself and then goes for the double stomp, but Nykk flattens himself vertically and Low Ki stomps the mat. He immediately does a double mule kick backward, kicking Nykk right in the groin. Nykk crumbles to the mat in pain, and Low Ki puts a foot onto his groin and hooks the head and leg so that he can't get away. Nykk is able to somersault forward and over Low Ki to make it to the ropes. Low Ki applies a rolling butterfly lock, but Nykk still doesn't give up. He fights his way to his feet, and Low Ki knees him in the face before taking him over with a butterfly suplex.)
David: Nykk's in trouble now. I think all those shots to the head and shoulders are finally catching up with him.
Dick: Nykk needs to find a way to neutralize Low Ki's strikes if he wants to keep his title. All they're doing is softening him up for Low Ki's submission holds.
(Low Ki goes to the top rope and goes for a twisting phoenix splash, but Nykk gets his knees up. Low Ki holds his ribs in pain, and Nykk somersaults him with a chop block to the leg. He gives Ki a rolling Samoan Drop and then goes to the top rope. He hits the Swan Splash and goes for the Cedarleaf. Low Ki won't turn over, and manages to get a foot free. He kicks Nykk and then grabs his arm, using the leverage for a rising kick. He charges Nykk, but Nykk ducks behind him and goes for the Trinity. He hits the back and German suplexes, but Low Ki slips out of the dragon suplex in midair and backflips to his feet. He kicks Nykk in the back of the head and quickly gives him a Ki Krusher. He turns him over into the Dragon Ki Clutch, and Nykk desperately tries to reach the ropes. Low Ki maneuvers him to the center of the ring, and Nykk starts to fade. Bowers drops his arm twice, but Nykk keeps it up on the third time. He starts to rise, but Low Ki lets go of the hold and jumps down across his back. He applies the Clutch again, but Nykk is still fighting. Ki lets go and jumps down across the back again and re-applies, but Nykk still won't tap out. Low Ki screams at him to tap out. He goes to jump across his back a third time, but Nykk quickly turns over and puts a foot up so that Low Ki's groin lands directly on it. Low Ki falls to the mat, and Nykk gets to his feet with some trouble. He gives Low Ki a dragon suplex and releases. He goes for the Cedarleaf again, but Low Ki headbutts him, and Nykk staggers back into the corner. Low Ki charges for a shoulder thrust, but Nykk jumps up to sit on the top rope and Low Ki crashes in between the turnbuckles. Nykk grabs his legs and applies the Cedarleaf while on the turnbuckles. After a few moments, Ki manages to edge himself into a position where he's hanging upside down. He sits up and starts hitting Nykk in the face, but Nykk lifts him up and gives him a Cedarleaf Bomb from the second rope. He immediately turns it over into the Cedarleaf and segues into the Limit Break Version. Low Ki yell in agony, and after a few moments, finally taps out.)
Winner: Nykk
David: That does it! Nykk won the summer series between himself and Low Ki and retained his MECCA Championship!
Dick: What a war between those two, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them walking around covered in ice packs from head to toe later on.
(Nykk gets the belt and celebrates with the crowd.)
David: Nykk retains his title, but much praise must be given to Low Ki. He came within an eyelash, on multiple occasions, of capturing that belt. Thank you for joining us for Summer Showdown, fans. For Dick Broccoli, I'm David Mills. We'll see you on Go Time!
