The Contender Star

How it works: The Contender Star is MECCA's official way of determining who is deserving of a shot at the MECCA Championship. This does not include unofficial challenges accepted by the champion.

1. To get on the Contender Star, which always has five available spots, a wrestler must defeat another who is already on there, thereby taking his spot.

2. The wrestler is then eligible for a title shot, pending approval from the board of directors.

3. If a wrestler on the Contender Star is injured for a lengthy period, leaves the promotion, or fails to win the title after three title shots, they are thrown off the Contender Star and a match is booked to determine who takes his spot.

4. If the champion is beaten for the title, he automatically takes the challenger's former place on the Contender Star, since he would be eligible for a rematch in any case. If the champion is beaten for the title by someone not on the Contender Star, they're SOL. They'll have to earn their place back on the Contender Star, so the champ should exercise caution when accepting challenges.

Every so often, there will be other ways to earn a title shot, so wrestlers not on the Contender Star aren't completely locked out. These special matches will be at the booker's discretion.
