| The current stance of the Federal Public Health agencies is that mercury does not cause autism; however in the same statement it is stated that it can not be proven that their is not causality. One would assume that the public health agencies would do appropriate research if a question exists. This is NOT being done. What is being done are epidemological studies, which according to the "pyriamid of evidence" can not be used to prove nor disprove causality. One must ask why these agencies would persue studies that do not produce definitive answers? One must ask, why the research dollars for children with Autism is $0.14 per child, where as for AIDS the dollars are $7.00 per person? Both are epidemics with no known "cure", both are devastating to individuals and those around them. If the incidence of Autism continues at current rates, the number of children along the Spectrum will be close to 400,000 with in a year. I encourage everyone to research, and think through logically the ramifications of supporting these children for entirity of their lives. |

Each parent must find what is right for them. What is important is to find help, hope and a safe place to vent your frustrations to others who are going down the same road you are. |
