| Danny Winn and the Earthlings Gigantic CD Release Party March 22, 2003 Starting off the show, Mosquito to Moscow had a more energetic prefomance than normal. Their generally, extremely polished sound took a little bit of a backseat to the energy, but overall, it was one of the best sets I've seen the band play. There were a few mistakes here and there, one particularly noticeable bass mistake, but the guitarist spoke to the crowd while the problem was figured out and the show went on. The guys strayed from their normal style, not only with more energy, but they threw in a masterful mix of old and new songs and ended the show with a song by the drummer's former band APH. Next to take the stage was Chronic Logic, their preformance was generic and boring. This band had a reggae sound and their songs were extreemely long. Their set could have used a lot more crowd involvement and liveliness. Danny Winn and the Earthlings took over from there, and picked up the energy where Mosquito to Moscow left off. They preformed well and got the crowd excited as usual. In addition, these guys always know how to strike the crowd's funny bone, with panties hanging from the trumpet and trombone, plastic flamingos and witty antecdotes. To complete the show, Time4Change got up in front of dispersing crowd and played a considerably less interesting show than they typically play. Their pop-punk sound was significantly less effective in rousting the crowd than the ska beats of Danny Winn and the Earthlings, and the show rolled to a stop shortly after |
