Over the summer, Jenn's wonderful parents, Karen and Jon (aka Jon E. B.), took Kevin and I along on their annual family trip to Maine. It was a great time. Karen and Jon had a hotel room, Jenn, Kevin, and I had a hotel room (they even gave us the better of the two), we ate together, visited an amazing water park together, shopped together, went to beaches together...oh, it was so fun! Here are a few photos that 'capture the magic'...And the background music...I'm pretty sure no one remembers this song except for me...

*

This is Jenn in the water. She's sort of scrunched up for two reasons: the water is really cold, and she hates having her picture taken, but I think it came out well. One night after a classy dinner and--wearing all our finery--we came back down to the beach and jumped in the waves and it was SO cold, but the three of us we just all hyped up and we kept splashing and jumping, and it was crazy...

That's Jenn on the left and Kevin on the right. I refused to go swimming in the ocean (it was freezing!) but the two of them spent quite a bit of time in there. Whenever a wave came in, they'd jump up into the air and land on it backwards. It took me a few tries, but I finally got them mid-leap.

Well, as you can obviously tell, these are two separate pictures, and they don't quite match up, but I think it looks neat. This is Jenn and Kevin digging Our Hole. We saw some little kids sitting in a hole someone had dug for them, so we went up to this beach shop, bought some shovels, and promptly started digging our own hole.

Kevin and I bought hats, on top of the shovels. We almost got Jenn to get a hat, but she refused (she thinks they're ugly). Kevin bought sunglasses, too, since he didn't have any. He kept saying that with the hat, the glasses, and the shirt, he looked a beatnik. We weren't quite sure what a beatnik looked like, but he kept saying it, so we figured whatever makes him happy...

And I look like I have a beard.

This is Jenn, trying out Our Hole. The expression on her face is pretty funny. Ah, Jenn...

And here it is: the finished product. Karen took this of all us tucked away in our hole with its wind barrier and everything.

This is Karen and Jon on the beach. She was reading this book that was sold everywhere you went...I forget what it was called, but it was something based in Maine, and the author's autograph was hanging in the bathroom of every restaurant you went into. Karen and Jon stayed out of the water, as did I. Actually, I think Jon might've got in for a minute...now I'm not sure...

Back at the hotel room, Kevin showed his inner Miss Cleo with some tarot cards he had bought. He had to use the instructions, but he did a decent reading on me. The beverages you see is the Cherry Coke we purchased at the local Shop & Save (I have pictures of that, too, but you gotta keep something sacred).

Well, Jenn was getting sick of me taking all the pictures so one morning when she and Kevin woke up way before I did, she snapped this one of me sleeping.

Officially my favorite picture of Jen never. She did not want me to take this, but Kevin distracted her. She got a lobster at this restaurant, thinking she could handle all of the pulling apart and the grossness...no. She later declared she was "too much of a lady" for lobster, but I think this picture shows otherwise. There's her poor lobster, swimming in a plate of his own green goo, and Jenn in her bib, making this priceless face of disgust while wiping lobster juice off her fingers.

There's Karen on the left, also struggling with her lobster (and wearing a bib), and Jon on the right, actually eating something that requires a fork (and he doesn't have to have a bib).

We also went mini golfing. Karen sat around reading somewhere while Jon, Jenn, Kevin, and I took to the course. It was a great place. We did both the easy and hard courses and I lost on both. This is Kevin and Jenn taking a break on a bench while Jon makes a putt.

This is Jenn, dismounting a fake rock at the mini golf place. She was looking very cute and I went to take her picture, but she scrambled to get away.

Kevin, still in his beatnik wear, launching off for another hole in one.

One night we ate at this great place, Vinnies, that had theme rooms and all kinds of amazing decorations. Here's a wall featuring the King himself, Clark Gable, Barbara Eden, Vivian Leigh, George Burns, Marilyn Monroe, and John Wayne.

This photo here is of Jenn and Kevin sipping the slushies we bought (mine is to Jenn's right on the bench) at this little store while we were waiting for Jon and Karen to return from their browsing. A big fire alarm had just gone off through out the streets, and we never did see a fire or any smoke, but the truck came racing through. You can see how this excited us.

Well, that's the end. We were there for a few days and did a lot of stuff, and I took a lot of pictures, and this was just a smattering of them. All in all, I had a great time. You can't capture bonding on film, so you'll just have to imagine. It was great.
