RANT:
Why I continue to think drinking is stupid.

Many people are confused that I have decided to not go binge drinking or drinking in any sense for my 21st birthday. They think I'm judging those who do drink. Well I'm not judging anybody, but I know that drinking in any way, shape or form is not good for me.

Invariably they ask me if I think a couple beers is bad. I can't say for them if it is or not. Certainly some people are not affected at all by a couple beers, but I don't want to take part. The Bible says that we shouldn't drink anything if it could make another Christian stumble. Considering the many recovering alcoholics in the church today, it seems best not to drink. And truly the Bible also says not to be drunk with alcohol but with the Holy Spirit.

My Theory: Binge drinking is always bad, but don't throw stones at those who do have a beer now and then.

Though I would like to point out to those people, that considering all the other things there are to drink in this world, why drink something that would impair your senses?

I honestly don't understand how a Christian could justify drinking. The Apostle Paul tells Timothy to drink a little wine for his stomach, so we see that alcohol may have use as a medicine. Probably to kill worms or something. :)

"Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you. Then you will sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves making music to the Lord in your hearts." Ephesians 5:18-19
