RANT:
Censorship of the media is a base evil.
Today I learned in my Introduction to Mass Communication class that several Christian teachers, such as Pat Robertson, have attacked the First Amendment, by fighting for censorship of the media.
It is totally true that most of the programming on television, radio and the Internet does not make God happy. Neither does sin, or people dying or other bad things. But He still chose to give us free will. And if the Creator of the universe gave us free will, to choose or not choose Him and other less important aspects of our life, then who is man to choose for other men?
I do think young children should have parental or teacher supervision while using the Internet, but of course we refuse to let them drive cars, too. Duh, its for their safety (and the public's).
Take care of your own family's media intake, share the Bible's teachings of what people shouldn't participate in, and then leave the CHOICE to them. |
