- Thoroughbreds are extremely athletic and are used for racing, hunter/jumper, three day eventing and are sometimes seen in western events.
- The founding fathers of the thoroughbred are the Bryerley Turk, the Darley Arabian and the Godolphin Arabian.
- The thoroughbred can be any solid color, the most common being bay, chestnut and brown, also grey, black and roan.
