Average Height: 14.2-16 hh
The Akhal-Teke is an ancient breed which is used for riding and racing. It is known for it's distinct golden metallic color and unique conformation. They are relatively uncommon in America right now but are increasing in popularity as a new sporthorse. They can be seen competing in dressage, jumping and racing. They are also an exceptional endurance horse. In 1935, these horses were ridden on an 2898 km trek, where 483 km were through a desert with no water!
