| My research involves digital circuit analysis. The circuits involved are small--with as little as only a few logic gates--as well as large--with as many as several thousand logic gates--and all sizes in between. Direct testing of these types of circuits is very tricky and expensive. To ease these difficulties, we use a circuit simulation program called FastScan (Copyright 1992-2006 Mentor Graphics Corporation). My project deals with circuit input/output relationships. The main goal of my project is to determine what relationship exists between the percentage of known values at circuit inputs and the percentage of known values in the interior of the circuit (interior values are observed at the output of each individual logic gate). Another relationship may exist between the percentage of known inputs and the number of levels into the circuit for which values are known. I would also like to determine whether the distribution of known inputs affects these relationships (what difference, if any, does it make if the known input values are grouped together or distributed among unknown values. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
