Course Orientation
Introduction
This course has four blocks; Understanding our role, Building leadership, Ensuring progress, and Empowering your people. Within each of these blocks are three subcategories with assignments to complete. The amount of time need to cover the material will very from person to person, however, it will probably take you approximately 2 hours to cover the material in each block. This does not include the time needed to complete the assignments within them, times for those will very greatly. You need to take a look at the material you will be covering each week, decide how long it will take for you to cover it and plan it into your schedule. Those of you who attended staff training at encampment last year will already know a lot of the material and be able to give very insightful explanations in the block evaluations on how they are already applying the training.
Learning blocks
You will complete one block each week. Each block is divided into three categories. These categories each include the Introduction, Objectives, References, Assignments, Questions and Attachments. Read through the introduction to get an idea of what you will be covering and review the Objectives to see what you are expected to know by time you are done with that section. The references and attachments serve as your actual instruction material. The assignments will deepen your knowledge by providing you a way to explore and apply it a bit more. Both the Assignments and the Attachments will be links that you can get to by clicking on the. The Questions section will help you to evaluate whether you have adequately accomplished the objectives, these are questions you should be able to answer upon completion of the block.
Staff Training at Bog Brook
Staff will be coming two days early to encampment for staff training. This time will be used to discuss what you have already learned, share experience with each other, develop with practical application of the material and get the encampment set up for the cadets.
Our expectations for you
We expect you to hold a desire and willingness to learn, positive attitude, open mind, and dedication to covering information thoroughly and completely. All assignments will be in on time in show of your maturity and ability to plan and manage your time. Remeber to check the 'Course Blocks' section this Monday the view block one.
