Crossword Puzzle

This artifact falls under the category of produce and print. I created a crossword puzzle through the use of puzzlemaker.com. I used vocabulary words for a Tulsa unit. I would use this crossword at the beginning of the unit to introduce the vocabulary. I have not every used this site before and was amazed at how easy it was to navigate through this website. There were a number of different puzzles and games. I had to play with most of them to figure out exactly what they did, but could see myself using the majority of them in my classroom. I would like to take some time this summer to create puzzles for my students to use with their spelling words. I enjoyed this project and look forward to using it in my classroom in the future.

Jeopardy Game

My second activity for Internet Tools included a Jeopardy game that would fall under the category of Produce and Post. I plan to post this site on my class homepage (edline) when we get to this unit. I found a template to download and use for a class game. I had some trouble downloading this file. It took three different templates until I found one that would download successfully. I found myself very frustrated as I tried to figure out the program without clear directions. It was not connected correctly so as to go from the box clicked, to the answer, and then to the question. It took a good amount of time to figure out the paths and where to input different information. I plan to use this with my classroom when we do our Tulsa Unit. I have a text that divides the topics up by letters of the alphabet. I chose to label the headings by letters rather than titles because I would like the kids to have to use the books to find their answers rather than turning directly to the page of the column heading. I teach my kids how to narrow topics and locate data during this unit. I enjoyed this project and would make another now that I have the template figured out. I think this will be a very beneficial way to use technology in my classroom. The kids will love it!
