Seminar in MS Course

     I presented a seminar when I was majoring in M.S. course, it was about heightening methods of concrete dams and the title was 'Concrete Dams Heightening'. All problems concerning heightening of concrete dams and benefits of heightening were discussed there. It is illustrated with many examples of the heightening projects done in other countries. It is presented in Persian language and is registered in the library of Tarbiat Modarres University. I worked on this seminar under supervision of Dr Mohammad Taghi Ahmadi.

Thesis Of MS Course

A computer model is developed for optimal (least-cost) design of water supply pipeline systems. This model can receive pumping stations and pressure reducing valves as possible or predefined locations and optimize their specifications and layout simultaneously. This means, the model may automatically omit certain possible locations of pumping stations and pressure reducing valves in the optimum layout and find the best combination of pipe diameters, pipe pressure classes, junction heads, pumping dynamic heads and pressure reducing valves’ setting heads to attain the least-cost design. In this model, a special case of optimization is defined as constant pipe diameter optimization in which, the system will be optimized in such a way that pipeline diameter be constant between each pair of special points of the route. Special points can be defined as junctions of changing the flow rates or location of pumping stations, etc. This case of optimization is directly entered in the general formulation and is an optional solution method in the model.

These features are formulated in this model for the first time (in the world):

  • Simultaneous optimization of pumping stations and pressure reducing valves' parameters and the layout of system.
  • Simultaneous optimization of predefined and possible locations of pumping stations and pressure reducing valves.
  • Capability of optimizing large systems with 2000 Pipes and/or locations of pumping stations and/or locations of PRVs, 1350 state variables, 40 available pipe diameters, 40 different pressure class for each available pipe diameter and 100 terminal pressure levels.
  • Formulation of a practical type of optimization (Constant pipe diameter optimization) as an option in the general model.

2000 Paper On 'Prevalent Mistakes In The Minimum Reinforcements In Slabs And Foundations'

I wrote this paper in Persian and published it in one of Iranian engineering magazines. It is showed in the paper that minimum reinforcements advised by different valid references (used in Iran) like ACI, USBR Design Manuals, Iran Concrete Code and ... are not totally compatible with each other and sometimes have very different criteria and it is shown that this matter (in some points) is not clearly explained in references and are left vague so that Iranian designers and also Iranian authors have many mistakes in interpretation and use of these rules. I explained the correct interpretation of rules then showed some dark points in the references and presented my idea about them.

I can read  English very well and write it well but can speak not very satisfactory but satisfactory. I participated in an English exam (named MCHE) in the ministry of higher education in 1997, it is completely like TOEFL  but not officially accepted or under supervision of the TOEFL headquarters. I could catch 68% that is equivalent to 533 points in original TOEFL code. I have been continuing my studies in English since then.

It is designed for Earth works Analysis in highway engineering and also it can compute earth works in irrigation canals and irregular channels. This program is written in Turbo Pascal 7.0 and used capabilities of Turbo Vision. 

Some of the capabilities are as follows:

  • As hydraulic and structural designer of projects, also I designed general layout of the projects, did quantity evaluations and prepared tender documents. Also I did supervision of some projects.

 

Projects:

  • 'Anzali Lagoon Protection',                     I participated in the phase-1 study team of the project but I was the hydraulic and structural designer of all the pumping stations and other structures of the project. I managed preparing of the related drawings and I did quantity evaluation and prepare tender documents, and finally I prepared the final report of the studies.
  • 'Azadegan Fish-Culturing Project',               It is a very big project. I was the hydraulic and structural designer of the pumping stations and other structures of the project (including pumping stations, (240m long) siphon structure beneath Ahwaz-Abadan main highway, bifurcation structure, intakes, gates, regulating structures and ...). I managed preparing of the related drawings and I did quantity evaluation and prepare tender documents, and finally I prepared the final report of the studies.  I supervised on the construction of the project. Some parts of the project -like main siphon structure- is under operation now.
  • 'Azadegan Fish-Culturing Projects' Main Pumping Station',                 I was the hydraulic and structural designer of the pumping station, This pumping station has a capacity of 35 m3/sec and has totally 16 operating pumps and 2 standby.   • 'Sugarcane improvement and Related Industries (Salman Farsi Unit)',           I was the  structural designer of some structures like the pumping station, culverts and bridges and also some buildings. 
  • 'Aziz kian Embankment Dam',                     I was in a team to do phase-1 studies and did studies on general plan and initial hydraulic design of diversion system and the spillway.
  • 'Kermanshah Small Power plants',               I was in a team to do phase-0 studies (distinguishing phase) and I study on the river (field study) and selected appropriate locations for power plants and other required structures and prepared general report of the studies.

It is a joint project between Ministry Of Agriculture Of Iran and JICA (Japan International Agency) to study on mechanization of paddy fields and land consolidation.

Post:        

  • As hydraulic and structural designer of projects, I design general layout of the projects too. 
  • Also I am project manager in 'Neka River Stabilizing Project' and  manage the construction phase.

 

Projects:

  • 'Tajan River Stabilizing in Semeskadeh And Espivard',                  It is composed of two stabilizing projects and some intakes to  traditional irrigation channels. The budget of the project is provided by the World Bank and I prepared the 'Justification Report On Hydraulic Design Of Semeskandeh And Espivard Project' to analyze and justify hydraulic behavior of the previously-designed structure.   • 'Neka River Stabilizing Project'                  I designed general layout and I was hydraulic and structural designer of the project. Also I am its project manager now and supervise on the construction phase.
  • 'Shiadeh Embankment Dam',                    the construction of this dam was finished in 2000 but there were some sliding in the left abutment in 2001 February, so I made a complete field study and also studied on the monitoring system information, then I provided a report containing graphs to facilitate interpretation of the monitoring informations and proved possibility of sliding of downstream shell in the left side of the body when the reservoir is full of water and after a period of rainfall.
