MDPT

[email protected]

For the laymen

For the public in general, it is possible to participate in the normalisation process of the instrument. Requests for an email copy of the MDPT should be sent at : [email protected] This will enable you to receive a copy of the MDPT by email. From this file, you can read the 410 items and answer by truth or false directly on the form. Once completed, you must return the file ([email protected]) in order to have partial results.

This task will require approximately an hour of your time and only partial results will be communicated. It is a voluntary contribution and your answers will be used to constitute the normative sample. You can collaborate if you were never hospitalized in psychiatry and if you are over 18 years old. You must answer a few questions (gender, age…) and respond the MDPT very honestly.

For psychologists

Not to be confused with the MDP (MultiDimensional of Personality) or the MMPI-2, the MDPT410 is a clinical questionnaire of 410 true-false items aimed to evaluate personality disorders and other clinical scales oftenly used in clinical private practice or psychiatric settings. The correction and interpretation of the MDPT410 is available with no cost in a beta version for registered psychologists and psychology students upon giving proper identification and proof of registration at a board of psychologists.
It is a true-false questionnaire of 410 items used for the evaluation personality disorders and most current psychopathologies. The instrument is within the exclusive use of psychologists but is also available for research purposes. The MDPT was first is elaborated in French with original items by a team of experienced clinical psychologists under the supervision of the psychologist Jacques Cloutier, M. Ps. The instrument includes validity, clinical and discriminant scales.
A computerized program will soon be available in English. A module (ModuleMDPT) is available on request if a psychologist wants to enter data directly on the computer for many profiles. For correction and interpretation, the data should be sent by email ([email protected]).
The program was conceived for PC and runs under Windows 98 or Windows 2000, ME, XP or more recent. Basicly, it is necessary to have Office 97 or, at least, Word 97 (or more recent) to write or print the report and Access 97 (or more recent) to be able to open the data base. It is also necessary to have a disk space of 40 Mo to install Framework.

The following publications were published in French : Gagnon, M. (2005). Manuel de cas cliniques adultes (Handbook of adult clinical cases). Montréal : Éditions Métrica.
Cloutier, J. (2005). Manuel du TMDP, troisième édition (Handbook of the MDPT, third edition). Montréal : Éditions Métrica.

The MDPT is an interesting alternative to the MMPI-2. The MDPT410 was conceived in order to be easily translated in other languages and easily comprehensible for a psychiatric patient with low level education. Moreover, scale construction is based on most recent research in psychometrics. Psychologists will be able to get the computerized program which allows correction and interpretation of a protocol after having entered the data (the patient’s answers), which takes approximately five minutes.
It is also possible to correct and interpret only one protocol by sending a digital copy of the answer sheet. The results (correction and interpretation) can be obtained rapidly.
