NOTE CARD This program isn't "game" oriented. There are 12 levels to choose from. You may choose treble, bass or both clefs. You may choose letter buttons, a keyboard or guitar frets to answer the questions. A note will flash on the screen and you have 12 seconds to identify it and make your answer. I really like this program. It is direct and to the point, correction of wrong answers are made, but, it wasn't "fun". For those students that need a bit of fun to keep them interested this isn't the program. It is very much like doing flash cards.

http://www.pianonanny.com/ This is more like lessons onine, than a game...but it is free! I didn't go through every lesson. The lessons were divided into 3 groups: beginner, intermediate and advanced - with 12 lessons at each level and a short test at the end. The web site had some teaching aids in Java Script* to help you through the lessons. I thought this was a great place for more of my adult students to go for a check up on what they really know, (mainly covering theory material). I didn't think this was a good place for younger students, only because it wasn't "fun" and the language was at a much more mature level. Parents who are trying to help out at home also could use it. *Java Script is a type a temporary program that is only stored in the computer till you close its window. Once the window closes, it is gone and needs to be downloaded from the Internet again.

Finale Note Pad This is freeware that is from a company called Finale. This program is called "Note Pad". It allows you to write/compose music directly onto the staff paper with a click of the mouse. This program also allows you to type lyrics onto the staff along with the guitar chords, or most any other instruments. I'd like to encourage everyone to write music. This is a wonderful introduction. I will be using this as a new learning tool within the lessons.
