| This grading period, our reading theme is journeys. We will be reading Akiak, Grandfather's Journey, Finding the Titanic, and By the Shores of Silver Lake. We will use various reading strategies to comprehend these selections. In addition, there will be a set of vocabulary words to go along with each story and activities in the practice book will help build knowledge of these focus words. Each week, there will be a list of twenty spelling words to learn. Throughout the week, various assignments will be given to help explore these words. All work will be due at the end of the week and turned in a spelling folder. There will also be a test each Friday to assess each student. Writing/Grammar this six-weeks will focus on kinds of sentences, subjects and predicates, journals, and giving details. |
