| Testing Schedule for AG Program K-2 Referrals should be made at the end of the first grading period, as testing should be completed within 30 days. Transfer students should be assessed on a "as needed" basis. Third Grade Screening should be completed as soon as third grade test scores are available, with the ability testing taking place within the first two weeks of school. Fourth and Fifth Grades Referrals will be requested at the end of the school year, and at the beginning of each new school year to determine any additional candidates for the upcoming school year. A group aptitude will be administered during the first month of school. An additional group aptitude test will be available in January to pick up any students who have transferred into the system during the school year. |

| Procedures for Identification of Students for Differentiated Services in Gifted Education Mass Screening Administrators, AG personnel, and regular education teachers will conduct the student search phase of the placement process. A broad sweep of the general population will be conducted annually with request for referrals of students to be included in the screening process. All third and sixth grade students will be given the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability test as a screening instrument within the first two weeks of school. Principals will work with classroom teachers on screening at the K-2 level. Referrals for testing at the K-2 level will be at the discretion of the principal. The following guidelines will be used for the mass screening K-2 Preformance in reading and/or math at least two grade levels above current grade placement. 3-8 Aptitude at 92nd precentile or greater on standardized ability measure. Teachers will be sent a letter requesting nominations for students to be screened in grades 4 and 5. |
