CLASSROOM RULES & POLICIES
CLASSROOM RULES
1. Respect Others
2. Good Manners
3. Be Good Learners
4. Follow All School Rules
5. Have Fun!
The children and I discussed these rules at the beginning of the year.  They know the many behaviors that are expected of them under these rules.  When a student has to be reminded of their behavior, they will be asked to "move a card".  This is explained more in the Daily Behavior chart below.
DAILY BEHAVIOR
Green     E       Excellent

Yellow    S       Verbal Warning

Orange   S-     10 min. restricted
                          recess

Pink        N      Call home &
                        restricted recess

White      U      Teacher Detention
We have a Daily Behavior system in our classroom.  All the children are aware of this and are expected to abide by it.  When a child is exhibiting a behavior that is not appropriate, they will be given a warning.  When a non-appropriate behavior occurs again they will be asked to "move a card".  Each card is a different level of Daily Behavior and has a consequence that occurs along with it.
Any physical violence (fighting, biting, etc.) or verbal threats of any kind will result in the child being immediately removed from the class and taken to the office to see an administrator.
TARDINESS & ATTENDANCE
Every child is expected to arrive in class on time each day.  They are to be in the classroom before the 8:00 am bell rings.  If your child is late, they will have to go to the office to obtain a late slip for admittance to class.
Three unexcused tardies will result in a written warning.
The 4th unexcused tardy will result in one afternoon of detention.  Each tardy after the 4th will also result in a detention.
At the end of the semester, the tardies will go back to zero and the count will start over.
Attendance is very important for success in school.  Unless your child is sick, we expect them to be at school.
If your child has had to be absent, please send a note with them on the next school day that they attend.  If we receive no note, the absence will be unexcused.
When a child has an excused absence, I will fill out a "Missed Work" form and send it home.  All missed work and homework will be on the form and the child will have 2 days for every day absent to do the work at home and return.

If a child is absent and it is unexcused, no work from that day will be allowed to be made up. All work, test, etc. will be a zero for that day.  This will have an impact on their final grade!
INCLEMENT WEATHER
If there is any kind of inclement weather, adminstration will make a decision as to delayed openings or closings as soon as possible.  Please listen to WHLC radio or Channel 13 on TV for delayed opening or closing information.  The automatic phone system will also be put into effect.  If we have a delay or closing and you do not receive a phone message, please contact the office.
