Rick’s Restaurant Review

Café 95

That’s funny. They don’t have their address
on their take-out menu. Well, it’s pretty easy to find. My first impression as
we walked in was that we were entering a hotel. I think it was the staircase
behind the cashier’s desk. Who knows what was up there? Anyway, to the left of
the desk is the restaurant. It is new and spacious. Not even the dark brown
sections of the walls could close it in. The effect was actually quite pleasant.
Up in the corner a TV was on, but the sound was down so it didn’t really
interest us. We had to make do with conversation amongst ourselves.
This is a new establishment and I got the idea
that they weren’t quite ready for a party as large as ours. I guess there were
about sixteen of us or so. Separate checks seemed to pose a problem until our
waitress took it upon herself to divide up the bill. And most of us had iced
tea and for some reason they didn’t want to leave pitchers on the table. All
the same, nobody went thirsty. They also specialize in flavored coffees if you’re
into that kind of thing.
They serve breakfast and lunch according to
the menu and quite a variety is available. Breakfast is served all day however
it doesn’t say anything about dinner though. Prices for sandwiches range from
$5.99 for a BLT to $9.79 for an open face Reuben. $7.49 will get you one of
their lunch specials. Sausage, meatball, Chicago beef or chicken are the
sandwiches offered. They also have the usual array of burgers including a chili
size for $8.99. I had a tuna melt for
$6.99 and it was quite tasty and well prepared. I see a Kid’s menu here but no Senior menu.
The service was good even though I was one
of the last to get my meal. I guess it took a while to melt that tuna. All in
all, the experience was good and I’ll recommend the Café 95 as a destination
for future rides and rev it up to 9 grand on the old Route 66 Riders tech. As
always redline is 10.
