We’re
delighted to bring to you this new regular feature in our newsletter. Rev.
Paul Klahr and his wife Jean
were missionaries to the Philippines back in the ‘80’s. They were used of
God to pioneer Asian Christian Charismatic Fellowship, which, in turn, gave
birth to Jesus Our Hope International Assemblies, the birthplace of Master’s
Commission Philippines-Asia. Now retired, “Tatay” Paul and “Mama”
Jean, as we fondly call them, reside in California, still impacting the Body
of Christ through Tatay’s testimony of healing from cancer, which he shares
to various churches where he speaks as well as by his wisdom-filled insights
that he shares daily through their website, “Klahr’s Korner” (http://members.aol.com/pklahr/).
Tatay Paul has kindly given us permission to take his articles and make them
available to everyone. We are extremely honored and grateful to have him as
our very first regular columnist. We hope that you will enjoy reading this
column as much as we enjoy bringing it to you! –Ed.
Many years ago, I walked into the office of a rather successful
pastor. The man was unimpressive in appearance and demeanor but the motto on his
desk drew my attention. The sign had just two words on it, "But God."
They were powerful words and represented the reason for his success.
"But God" became my motto. I had them engraved in marble
and hung them in my office. Let me give several examples of the reason I still
have it as my motto.
In Japan, I went into a city to establish a church. Unknown to me,
several missionaries had tried to establish a church but were unsuccessful. BUT
GOD sent a typhoon and created a cross from the wreckage of our roof. It was a
sign for all the people to see and a Church was established.
In the Philippines, a place of worship needed to be established
that would be acceptable to all people. A hotel social room was chosen. The
hotel manager said, "No." BUT GOD intervened and the secretary of the
manager called me to come and I was asked to have a service. Presently, millions
of people are worshiping in many such places with a new sense of freedom of
worship.
The doctors said that Dr. Mel Gabriel would die within three months
from the lung cancer they had diagnosed in him. BUT GOD touched his body and
healed him. He was a testimony to the whole Philippine nation of God's power to
save one’s soul and heal one’s body.
Another panel of doctors said I had pancreatic cancer in 1994. BUT
GOD healed me in January 1995. What else can I say?
If you are facing an impossible situation,
acknowledge that you do not have the answer. Then look to God and accept the
motto, "BUT GOD." He will perform His will and you will have His
peace. – PAUL KLAHR
