Sketches: NYC review: - 32 pages, slightly larger than digest, copied art, zine.
Okay, the only way I can describe this zine is by saying it's absolutely beautiful! As a matter of fact, I'm so taken with the art in this zine that I'm going to put my review of it in the comic and zine sections so everybody has a chance to be turned on to what Mark has created. These 32 pages chonicle a year of observations in New York from February 2001 to February 2002. Mark captures the likenesses of people out in various settings. Some enjoying a bite to eat or a drink, others in the park, and still others on a train or making music. As you might have guessed Mark also records the events of September 11th, showing the New York skyline forever changed and shrouded by thick bellowing smoke. Mark's life drawings not only capture the casual posture of his unsuspecting subjects, but also their emotions. All these wonderful images are rendered in flowing pen and ink lines with several gray washes thrown in. Mark certainly proves his abilty to convey his world through captivating imagery. All this and a terrific 5 page comic too! This collection of art is worth much more than the asking price!
Review for the Bet in Zine World #22
Quick mini-comic about two strangers who meet outside a restaurant's bathrooms and make a bet on which one will come open first.  The embarassment this causes leads me to think it could be based on a real experience.  Cute and funny.  -Jerianne
