Title by Author

This side is where you write the exact words from the story. We do this so the teacher knows what is going on in the book.
Be sure to write the page number!

This side is where you write your response to what you read. Your response will take the form of one of the reading strategies we have talked about in class:

    Monitor/Clarify: you explain what is happening

   Predict/Infer: you tell what you think will happen next, or something you have figured out that is not written exactly in the story

    Question: you write a question you have about the story. It may or may not be something that can be answered by reading.

     Phonics/Decoding: you tell how you figured out what a word meant

     Evaluate: you tell things you like or don't like about the story, and why

     Summarize: you briefly tell what happened in your own words
