Background

Since you will be in my class this school year, I think that it is important for you to know a little bit about me. Education is something that I have always placed a high value on. It was instilled in me from an early age that although you do not need a lot of education to be successful, the more education you have, the more doors of opportunity are opened to you. More open doors, in turn, brings a greater chance of success. I was also taught that education is important because it is the one thing no one can ever take away from you. This is a belief that I share with my students.

I have been working in the field of education since 1999. I began my career as a Teachers Assistant in a pre-school in Virginia while I was pursuing my Bachelors Degree. After receiving my degree, I worked as an Early Childhood Education teacher in Huntington, NY. I then moved on to work as a Vocational Coach for adults entering the workforce for the first time. I taught pre-employment skills, such as resume building and interview skills, as well as basic business math. I moved to my current position at Far Rockaway High School in the fall of 2005.

As far as education goes, I am a product of the New York State School System. I received a New York State Regents Diploma from North Babylon High School. I then attended the University of Virginia where I received my B.A. I am currently pursuing my M.A. in Secondary Mathematics Education from St. Johns University.
