Vanda celebica Rolfe is found in the northeastern arm of Sulawesi Utara. Until recently rediscovered, it was thought to be probably extinct. The following is a general description of Vanda celebica Rolfe. My gratitude goes out to Peter O'Byrne for the positive identification and his supporting help.

I have no Vanda celebica plants for sale, I won't collect plants for anyone and I won't give out the location where the plants came from for conservation sake. I have six seed pods maturing that are already designated for flasking to bring Vanda celebica into cultivation.

What I will be more than happy to do is allow you to use the photos from this site for your own website as long as I, Stan McLaren, am credited for the photos. Thank you for your consideration.

General Description
This is not meant to be a scientific composition but just a general description. Vanda celebica grows to at least 80 cm. The plants in my collection are still growing and have not yet reached a mature size. This Vanda appears to flower all year-round unlike Vanda arcuata which has shown to be seasonal so far. If you look at the picture of the stem and leaves, you can see old flower stalks at almost every leaf base. Roots are produced along all parts of the stem. The diameter of the stem is 1cm. Strap shaped leaves are 25 - 40 cm long and 2 - 3 cm wide. Inflorescences have 5 - 9 flowers and are shorter than the leaves. The thick and waxy flowers are 3 to 4cm wide and fragrant during the day. The dorsal sepal is on average 19 mm long and 10 mm wide. Lateral sepals are 16 mm long and 10 mm wide and the sepals are 17mm by 10 mm wide. The average length of the stem on the sepals and petals is 7mm. The lip is about 12 mm long with a 5mm spur. Column is 7mm long and 4 mm wide.
