THE MAGIC ABOUT WURZ
Written by: Cecilia

When
Alex Wurz debuted in the maximum category of the motoring in that Canadian
GP of 1997 surely nobody thought of a great driver… "a newcomer else..."
Why? Surely because they didn't know really about him…
or because he couldn't demonstrate his real talent in that opportunity.
But some weeks later, at the British GP, everybody talked
about Alexander Wurz and his 3rd place in his 3rd F1 race started.
Since that July 13th of 1997 and during all 1998 the
very young driver was the real F1's sensation.
But in the next years the bad luck arrived… Lots of abandons
(just a few because of him) made that some people said that "he insinuated
a lot and demonstrated a little…"
Sometimes no one asks why…
No one seems to understand that the drivers can't lose
suddenly their talent… that they can't worse, but stay as they are… or
improve… It was just bad luck and a car that didn't help him…
Instead the reality is that Alex has nothing to demonstrate,
because he already did it. He's a great driver and he demonstrated it with
things like that in that Brazilian GP of 1998 when he overtook Frentzen
with a magnificent maneuver or when in the Monaco GP of the same year he
fought with Michael Schumacher, just for mentioning something.
Now Alex will be McLaren test driver in 2001 and 2002.
Surely it's not like being a titular driver but now he is in a team like
the one he has always deserved, a great one.
We know that Alex will be soon racing in F1 again. He's
an excellent driver with that "special thing" that just a few have and
he never give up. For that reason, for those who really knows, he doesn't
need to demonstrated it…
So… what did change in Wurz since that wonderful '97
and '98? Nothing. He's the same, a young driver with still a lot to give
to F1… OR EVEN BETTER…
