Formula1 GP Of Japan
2002
Race Preview:
- The West McLaren Mercedes team travels
to Japan for the final race of the 2002 FIA Formula 1 World Championship,
the Japanese Grand Prix.
- The race is held at the 5.821km
Suzuka circuit, which has been its permanent home since 1996. The figure-of-eight
track is a mixture of tight and wide, fast corners which presents a unique
challenge to the drivers, says West McLaren Mercedes driver Kimi Raikkonen.
- "This means cars must drive in
both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions," says Kimi. "It is a fairly
technical circuit which can be very wearing on tyres, but as the last race
of the season, the atmosphere is great."
- The Japanese Grand Prix will
also mark the West McLaren Mercedes team's 100th race.
