McKay Clan Holds Reunion On Drive

McKAY CLAN HOLDS
REUNION ON DRIVE

xxxxxThe ninth annual McKay reunion was held Sunday, September 12, at Skyland Recreation Center. Seventy-nine descendants of Robert McKay, who settled in the Valley of Virginia near Cedarville, Virginia in 1732, were present. Everyone agreed that this was one of the most enjoyable occasions since the Clan was organized.

xxxxxA delicious lunch was served by the concession at the Skyland Recreation Center and during luncheon Mr. Beverly B. McKay, a close relative of Robert McKay, was called upon to speak. Mr. McKay's remarks were interesting, informative and humorous.

xxxxxA brief business session presided over by the Honorable John Rust, followed. Prizes were awarded for traveling the longest distance and bringing the most people to the meeting. These were won by Mrs. John Miller from Stamford, Conn. and Mrs. Lucy McKay Ray. Door prizes went to Mrs. Nancie Evans, Mrs. Jesse McKay and Strohm Evans. Samples of the McKay plaid were presented to each family present by Mrs. Henry McKay.

xxxxxA motion was made and carried that a committee be appointed to study the advisability of purchasing a memorial in the proposed Confederate Museum.

xxxxxA vote of thanks was given to those who had made the meeting such a success. Officers elected for the ensuing year are Marshall Gore, president; Randolph Barbee, vice president; Isabelle McKay Brockman, secretary and treasurer.
