A POEM FROM ONE GASPESIAN TO ANOTHER
An individual from Gaspé wrote the following poem. The poem was written in 1973. Don wrote the poem to Connie, both who are from Gaspé. I guess it can be said that it is possible that people had a little free time or maybe a little on their minds. The poem is Don's reflection of wartime suffering. Suffering the lost of a love one. The Gaspe coast during World War II provided the Canadian Military Forces with brave young men. There was a military shelter set up along the coast in St. Georges de Mal Bay at Fort Prevel. The fort was equipped with cannons and weapons storage. The location now can be visited by the public free of charge. You can walk in the trenches and touch an actual cannon.
