Sugarplum Bread                                                        Preheat oven to 250
4 cups sifted flour                                    2 cups sugar
1- 8oz. pkg. chopped dates                        1 tsp. baking soda
1 lb. orange candy slices, chopped             4 eggs
1 1/2 cups shredded coconut                     1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup coarsely chopped pecans                  1/2 cup buttermilk
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts                 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 cup margarine                                        1 tsp. orange extract

Glaze
1 Cup orange juice
2 tsp. grated orange rind
2 Cups sifted powdered sugar

Directions:
1. Spread a large piece of waxed paper on table and sift 1 cup
   flour onto it.  Add dates, candy, coconut, and nuts and mix.
2. In electric mixer bowl, cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs
   one at a time.
3. Sift remaining 3 cups flour with baking soda and salt.
4. Alternately add flour mixture and buttermilk to mixing bowl
   beating on low. Add lemon juice and flavoring.
5. Remove bowl from mixer and stir in fruit, candy, nut mixture by hand
6. Pour batter into 2 greased and lightly floured loaf pans and bake
   at 250 for 2 1/2 hours or until done.
7. When done do not remove from pan.  Poke holes in breads and pour
   glaze over while still warm.  Let stand until cool to remove.
Chocolate Banana Nut Bread
1 pkg. chocolate cake mix
1 sm. pkg. instant chocolate pudding
� c. oil
� c. water
4 eggs
1 c. mashed ripe bananas
1 c. nuts (or 1 c. chocolate chips)
Mix using electric mixer until blended. (do not over mix) Stir in nuts or chocolate chips by hand. Pour into 2 greased loaf pans Bake 55 min. at 325 degrees.

Glaze
1 c. powdered sugar
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. almond extract
2-3 Tbsp. milk
Mix dry ingredients then add liquid. Drizzle glaze over cake while warm.
Cranberry Nut Bread
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chopped cranberries 1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 tablespoon orange zest
1 egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3/4 cup orange juice
Directions
1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease
   one 9x5 inch loaf pan.
2 Combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and
   baking soda. Add the cranberries and chopped nuts, stir to
   coat with flour.
3 Combine the egg, oil, orange juice and grated orange
   peel. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and stir
   until just combined. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan.
4 Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 50 minutes or
   until a toothpick comes out clean. Let bread sit for 10
   minutes and then remove from the pan and place on a cooling
   rack. Let cool completely before slicing.
