COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to help students realize the level of commitment required by career and family. It will help students to develop the problem solving skills needed to manage career and family conflicts as they arise It is designed to help students choose careers that meet not only financial goals, but family goals as well. Frequent use of resource persons and free publications by the Cooperative Extension Service a well as newspapers and magazines are resources used to obtain the most current information on career and family topics and issues. Students will examine and solve aspects of the following practical problems: developing a personal philosophy of life; attaining basic needs fulfillment; establishing personal identity; understanding the formation of value systems; building/shaping one�s character; developing effective communication; resolving conflict; establishing effective interpersonal relationships within and outside the family; establishing a married relationship; developing consideration for the well being and interests of others; exploring career opportunities in relationships; maintaining optimum health and protecting oneself/others from sexually transmitted diseases .
