After spending the last two seasons as the music director of the DTE/Detroit Edison Glee Club, Michael is once again returning to his roots as a folk musician. Although born in Detroit, his family hails from County Monaghan, Ireland. His many trips to visit family in Kavanaugh Country helped lay the foundation for his love and fascination with Irish culture and music.
Michael has been featured with the Detroit Symphony, Wayne State Universitys Mens Glee Club and the Wayne State Concert Chorale. His television and radio credits include performances on BBC radio and Television, singing the national anthem for the Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day game and doing background vocal work for the television show "Xena: Warrior Princess.
For 15 years Michael performed at The Old Shillelagh, downtown Detroits landmark Irish pub. Most recently he has been tearing up the 88s at dueling piano bars across Michigan including JDs Key Club in Pontiac and Rum Runners in Lansing. Now residing in Mid-Michigan, he looks forward to bringing his special blend of Irish pub music back to Chris McGurrins.
