Found: Specimens were found by combing through the fragments of a rotting log Date: May 2004 Length: Approx. 3cm Terrain: Hot, forested areas. Description: A small Buthid, cryptically coloured. The males have noticeably bulbous and prettily marked pedipalps in contrast to the females. A very diminutive subaculear tubercle is present. Comments: These are typical little "forest" scorpions. The combination of size, camouflage and habitat means they are unlikely to be encountered.Unlike their Jo'burg cousins (P. ochraceus) they are seldom seen out of their forest environment. |
