WINTER TALE

Name your poison

Pour yourself a stiff one...

Gonna tell you 'bout a woman

W/ eyes and hair as black as sin

And blood running down her chin

And the smell of sex upon her skin

- And she was laughin'

How I came there I don't know

I was stumbling lost through the snow

The chill of Death blowin' on my bones

When I saw in the night a fire glow

- And it led me to her home

I woke up in an iron bed

She was standing at my head

Face as pale as winter dead

And her lips shone with crimson red

- I felt a nameless dread

I thought I heard a church bell toll

Like a raven on a gallows pole

Her eyes lit up like burning coals

And I caught a glimpse of her twisted soul

- And my blood ran cold

With a single kick, she slammed the door

With razor fingernails she tore

And ripped the stays of the dress she wore

And let it slide to the floor

- And my lust grew hot and raw

Pinning me down like a crucifix

She threw herself astride my sex

Shouting and shuddering in sticky sweat

Oh, little did I suspect

What was coming next ...

As she writhed on me like a vipers' nest

All pumping thighs and swollen breasts

She swung her face down to my chest

And her teeth ripped my flesh!

The pain coursed through me like burning lead

I threw her off and smashed her head

On the steel bars of her bitch's bed

And without a backward glance, I fled

- While my chest bled

I'll never know how long I ran

Breathless as a drowning man

My bare feet burning on the frozen land

And the blood from her bite hot in my hand

- Till it was more than I could stand

By miracle, some hunters found

Me lying naked on the ground

Took me home and brought me round

For two months I couldn't speak a sound

- They wouldn't let me leave the town

And of the woman? Who can say?

The old folks spat and looked away

Spoke of a woman in a forgotten grave

Dead sixty years on St. Andrew's Day

- When she was burned at the stake
