| Emma (1996) Played Frank, a two-faced dandy from the Jane Austen novel Also starred: Gwyneth Paltrow Directed by: Douglas McGrath |
| Summary: An adaptation of Jane Austens eponymous novel that is just not as entertaining as Clueless was. Ewans Thoughts: I think the films all right, but I was so crap, I was terrible in it. I didnt believe a word I said. I just thought, Shut the f*** up, Frank. It was the first time I was really embarrassed about it. Christinas Review: I guess Im not really qualified to give a full review of Emma as my loathing of Gwyneth Paltrow led me to fast forward through the entire first half of the movie to Ewans scenes, which are rather sparse. His performance isnt as dreadful as the above quote may make it seem, but neither is it his best performance. However, in view of the fact that Emma was released not long after Trainspotting, it certainly showcases the amazing versatility of our beloved Ewan. |
