A Walk in the Sun Chapter Nine There was a criquet game that Friday night, and Harry was the star player, so of course Eberlie was there cheering him on. Danny and I still hadn't worked things out. He tried to talk to me about 22 times, but every time one of my friends would push him away from me, and tell him I didn't want to talk. He sent me flowers, tulips my favorite kind. On Saturday, I finally answered one of his calls. "Hello?" I said. "Hey it's Danny, Wait don't hang up just please here me out," he pleaded before I had the chance to hang up. "Ok Fine." I replied. "I didn't do it on purpose," he started. "What do you mean you didn't do it on purpose?!" I practically yelled. "She jumped on me, I admit I went with it for a second, but then I realized it was wrong, and tried to push her off, that's when you came in, Im really sorry Linley, really sorry," he said. The line was silent. "Linley?" he asked. "Yeah Im here," I said. "Well?" he asked patiently. "I'll think about it, and talk to you on Monday," I said. "Okay Linley, talk to you then," he said, and then hung up. I sighed. I had a lot of thinking to do. On Monday Danny came up to me in the hall. "Umm have you decided yet?" he asked hopefully, while scratching his head. "Yes, and I'm willing to give you another chance, but only because you're adorable," I said. He beamed at me then leaned down and kissed me. I didn't hesitate. It was our first kiss, and it was amazing. I already knew it wouldn't be our last. Tom had been carrying Hillary's books for 2 and a half weeks now. They were really getting to know each other. "Hey Tom," Hillary said as she handed her books to him. He looked as if stunned she was talking to him. "Hey," he managed to stammer out. Then he accidentally dropped her books. Hillary bent down to help him pick up the books when they bumped heads, sending Hillary falling to the ground laughing. "Sorry! Sorry are you ok?" he asked. "Yeah Tom, Im fine," she said as he helped her up. Their eyes met, and Tom kissed her. It was just a peck, but there were so many emotions in it. The bell rang, but neither of them seemed to hear it. The tardy bell rang, but they didn't notice that one either. They just stood there, staring and smiling. Eberlie and Harry. They were so cute! They went on dates, held hands, and smiled and waved to each other. But Harry came up to me one day, a few weeks after they had gotten together. "I just don't feel the magic anymore," he said looking at his feet. "Well, if there really is nothing left dont lead Eberlie on it'll just make things worse. Tell her you just want to be friends," I said. Harry looked up helpless; he shoved his hands into his jean pockets and shrugged. "You're lame you know that?" he joked. I winked. "See you around Harry," I said. "See you," he called after me. I rushed away quickly. There was a vibe there I didn't like. A love vibe. I didn't like this, I was with Danny, and Harry was with Eberlie. If Harry liked me this could get messy, and I don't want to clean up any more relationships. Even if Harry is cute... Back |
