A Walk in the Sun Chapter Seven Danny was taking me to the cinema, but I was driving. Hayley was totally bummed. "Dougie just won't ask me out!" she cried over the phone. "Aww Hayley its ok," I said not really listening. I was too excited about Danny. "Maybe it will be your lucky day," I said trying to cheer her up. "Maybe not," she replied sadly. "Hey hold on a sec someone's on the other line," she told me. "Hello?" she sniffled. "Hey uhhh Hayley?" a familiar voice said. "Yeah who is this?" she asked. "It's Dougie," he said. Hayley's heart skipped a beat. "Oh hey what's up?" she asked. "Uhhh nothing I was just gonna you to go to the cinema, as a double date with Danny and Linley," he said. "Sure great!" she said eagerly. "Awesome I�ll pick you up at 7," he said. Hayley was so excited about the date, she hung up on me. "Hello? Hayley?" I said, "Oh well," I sighed. I pulled up at Danny's house at 7:07, popped in a breath mint, reapplied my lip gloss, and rang the doorbell. I looked around and saw Danny's bike lying on the front lawn. Danny answered the door. "Hey," he smiled. "Hi," I said gazing into his blue eyes. I admired his face for a moment, especially the freckles sprinkled across his nose. "Let's go," he said and grabbed my hand. We skipped to my 4 runner. Meanwhile... Dougie knocked on Hayley's door. Hayley, having waited for this moment for forever, answered the door immediately. "Hey Dougie!" she smiled. "Hey you ready? We best get going or we'll miss the movie," he said. "What movie?" she asked. "I don't know, but knowing Danny it will be something scary and full of action, that kid has issues," he said. Hayley laughed, "Linley doesn't seem to think so," she remarked. When they got to the cinema, we were already waiting for them. "What took you chaps so long? Me and Linley already got our popcorn!" Danny said gesturing to the large empty bucket we had shared. "Oh sorry guys," Dougie said. Danny chose a scary movie, just like he said he would. It was called While You Were Sleeping. The movie itself wasn't as scary as the person in front of us, it was Miranda Fuentez! The movie was about 2 sixteen year old girls having a sleepover. They were in a basement alone, and there was a man watching them from a window. I grabbed onto Danny, and he put his arm around me. Dougie and Hayley two rows down sat quietly. Dougie casually stretched and put his arm around Hayley. Hayley leaned and put her head on Dougie's shoulder. I had a little too much soda and went to the bathroom. Remember when I told you Miranda was sitting in front of us? Well here's where she comes in. As I walked back to my seat, I noticed someone in it. When I got closer I realized it was Miranda, and she was making out with Danny! My Danny! I didn't know what to do so I walked up and said "Daniel Alan David Jones! What is your problem? I will never ever talk to you again!" and then walked away. Danny pulled away and called after me, but I was already gone. Back |
