Dirty Strumming
Chapter Two
Tricky Teacher

The following morning Charlie definitely wanted to try out the guitar lessons. She thought she could show Danny that she could do other things besides being Daddys good little girl. Charlie knew thats what he probably thought of her, as everyone else did. She wondered back over to the same notice board to re-read the advert. She unpinned it carefully reading it as she walked. The notice had directed her to the camps music studio so she sat down and waited for someone to come and instruct her.

It was so silent. All she could hear was the sound of her own breath, breathing in, and breathing out. Just then the door flung open rapidly and in entered a tall figure with his back towards her.

Im so sorry Im late, I got held up, and then I couldnt find my car keys, then the traffic was awful, then the studio door was locked he said quickly tossing his bag on a chair and throwing his jacket to one side in the process. But Im here now saying slightly out of breath turning around. Wait, youre the girl Im teaching guitar? It suddenly clicked to Charlie who this figure was.

Danny? I didnt know u taught guitar here She said, slightly surprised.

Are you any good? Charlie could sense he was being sarcastic.

I dont know, Id be willing to try though she decided that she was going to think positively.

Danny then turned around grabbing a chair from the back and placed it facing the chair that he had slung his bag onto. He then directed his hand to it indicating Charlie to sit down and then he did the same on the other chair.

Ok this will be the song that we will, hopefully, get you playing by the end of these 3 weeks a smile came to his face.

Pausing for a second, he positioned his fingers onto the strings and took a deep breath. He starting playing a song which Charlie had recognised. Probably because it wasnt his own melody.

This thing, called love, I just, cant handle it, this thing, called love, I must, get round to it, but I aint ready, crazy little thing called love

Charlie felt herself almost staring at him, he just looked so professional. She noticed he closed his eyes while he played and wondered if she was really going to be up to this. I could never be this good she thought.

Charlie had been staring at Danny so much that she lost track of time and soon enough the hour was up but Charlie hadnt touched the guitar once. Danny had hogged the guitar for the whole hour just to show off. Charlie was not very impressed.

Hey, Im paying for these lessons, why wasnt I allowed to touch the guitar?

Danny looked up at her already angry face and just smiled. Charlie stormed out of the studio and ran to her room where she stayed for hours.

The following day she considered not to let Danny ruin her holiday so Charlie and her sister strolled over to the main house to find some fun activities to get involved with. They soon found themselves trying on wigs which Charlie thought was a bit bizarre but her sister seemed to enjoy it. Just then Danny and one of his band mates had appeared only a few paces away from where the girls were sitting. Charlie noticed that Danny had whispered something into the other guys ear and was apparently funny as they both started to laugh. Dannys eyes then slowly became distracted and met with hers. A small smile began to creep on his face just as he made a hasty exit. Charlie approached his band mate and introduced herself.

Hi, my name is Charlie, nice to meet you she said while extending her arm.

Yes, hi, I was wondering when I was going to meet you he responded. My name is Tom by the way then he shook my hand.

How did you know my name? Charlie asked confusingly.

Well Danny hasnt stopped talking about you since the melon incident.

Charlie found herself thinking, really hard. Why would Danny be talking about her? He seemed to really hate her, unless, he was saying genuinely evil things.

It was time for her guitar lesson which she wasnt originally going to attend, but Tom made her seem interested in what Danny was saying about her. She knocked on the studio door quietly. She couldnt even hear the knock herself it was so faint. Starting to feel really nervous, she slowly opened the door to find Danny already sitting in the same chair softly playing one of his songs. Charlie was so mesmerized that as she moved closer to where he was sitting she hadnt noticed a guitar case that was left on the floor and tripped over it. Danny stopped playing and swiftly turned his head to face the loud noise. He carefully placed his guitar down next to his chair and ran over to help up Charlie.

Are you ok? he said genuinely concerned.

umyes, Ill be fine she replied half smiling.

Good because we have a guitar lesson to get started leaving Charlie to regain her balance alone. She thought it was too good to be true.

Danny started to play the same song in the same way as he had done the previous day. Charlie could tell where this was going and wondered why she had shown her face there at all. Danny looked up and saw that Charlie was looking rather bored and stopped playing which in turn made Charlie look up at him. He smiled and then handed the guitar cautiously to her. She couldnt believe what she was witnessing. In the remaining part of the session Danny was teaching Charlie to play guitar properly by showing her the notes and chords. He became a bit agitated when Charlie struggled to pick up some of the chords but he was no-where near as unpleasant as he was the first time they had met.
