A Secret to Hold Close Chapter Tweleve After arriving back at the hotel Mylie rushed to get ready and was waiting down in the lobby when Danny got there. Hey Mylie. Danny said with a smile as he took of his aviator sunglasses, I couldnt wait to see you. He leaned in and kissed her lightly on the lips, a kiss that she returned. She smiled and they walked out of the hotel hand-in-hand. As they stepped out onto the street Mylie said, There is this little caf down the street that I wanted to try. Is that okay with you? Danny nodded, sliding his sunglasses back on so that maybe he wouldnt be recognized by any over-excited fans. He didnt want anyone to bother him while he spent time with Mylie. They walked down the street and Danny asked her a lot of questions about herself. She felt comfortable enough to tell him just about everything but she was careful to screen all she said so that she would let it slip that she had been, and was again, sick. She also asked him a lot about himself, especially the stuff she didnt already know from the numerous McFly fan sites that she used to visit. When they reached the caf they grabbed at table that was in the rare English sun. Lunch went well and when the bill came Mylie reached for it. I dont think so! Danny exclaimed, Im not going to let you pay! I was brought up right enough and that means that a lady should never have to pay. Mylie didnt say anything but she leaned forward and lightly kissed him. While she had him distracted she plucked the bill out of his hand. She giggled at his stunned expression. I told you I would buy lunch to make up for being so difficult this morning. You can buy next time. Danny rolled his eyes, Fine! I think I could be persuaded with another kiss like that Mylie grinned and kissed him again, for just a little longer this time. Okay, okay I give up! he said, faking exasperation and throwing his hands up. As she handed over the credit card that she had gotten to use especially for this trip to the waiter she caught sight of a flash of red hair and a familiar face walking by on the sidewalk by the caf. Susan?! Mylie exclaimed. She jumped up, ran over to the nurse and gave her a big hug. It is you! How are you doing? What are you doing here in London? Susan laughed and said, I told you I had charges over here. Im doing fine but from what I hear you arent Mylies eyes widened, How in the world did you kno but she cut herself off as Danny walked up. Susan this is Danny, hes a good friend whos been showing me around the city. Danny this is Susan, Mylie almost slipped up and said that Susan was her nurse but instead she said, She is an old family friend. Dannys eyes had faltered when Mylie introduced him as a friend but smiled politely and shook Susans hand. Its very nice to meet you Susan. He turned to Mylie and said, Im sorry but I have to get back to the studio. I can take you back to the hotel if you want. Thanks for the offer but I think I hang out with Susan some if she doesnt have anything else to do. The red-head smiled, Nope, weve got some catching up to do anyways. Alright, Ill call you later ok? Oh, you forgot this back at the table. Danny handed her the credit card before leaning down and kissing Mylie lightly and smiling good bye to Susan. Mylie watched him disappear into the crowd as he heading back down the street to his car and when she turned back to Susan the nurse was looking at her with one eyebrow lifted. Mylie frowned, I know what youre thinking and it cant happen. I dont love him. I like him. He can make me laugh and can show me a good time. Mylie frowned bitterly, In case you didnt know Im sick again and this time it is fatal Susan sighed, Mylie I do know about the cancer coming back. But I also know that you are giving up and that is no way to win a battle. Danny could give you the support you need to win this time! Mylie stared at Susan, So you think the love of one guy is enough to save my life when the love of my whole family wasnt enough the first time? Mylie come on lets go for a walk. The two women walked over to the nearby park and chose a path. Susan lifted her gaze up before turning to Mylie, Mylie Im not saying that the boys love is better or more then your familys its just different and it is something that you need. How do I even know if he loves me or not? I cant just come out and ask him! And Ive only known him a short while, I cant put that much pressure on him to love a girl that might die! Mylie exclaimed. Susan shook her head, Time doesnt all ways matter, Mylie. True love is one of those emotions that isnt affected by time except to only to grow stronger as time passes. She corrected herself. Im just afraid that you are going to give up the one thing that you really need. Mylie rubbed her forehead as she felt a headache coming on. Susan. She lifted her golden gaze to show tears welling up in them. I cant let myself be a burden to him! I know that if he found out I was sick then he would insist on coming back with me to the states because I dont want to go through another round of surgery which means I want to die at home with my family. It would ruin his life and I cant let that happen. Im going to enjoy what time I have left with him and when the time comes I will go home and he will go on with his life while mine is ending. Mylie I know youre wrong. Jess knows youre wrong. Even you know youre wrong deep down inside. But no one can make that decision for you, you have to choose. I just hope that when the time comes you will make the right choice. Mylie squeezed her gold eyes closed and wrapped her arms around herself. She could feel the weight of the nurses words weighing down on her and all she wanted to do was escape the pressure. Escape having to make this decision, this choice. She couldnt hurt him and watching her die would cause Danny more pain then she could imagine. She didnt want that. But a selfish part of her did. A part of her wanted to know that he would be there with her forever or at least until she breathed her last breath. But she didnt want that part of her to win, it couldnt win. NO! Mylie shouted out loud, not certain what or who she was saying no to, but when she opened her eyes she didnt see anyone, especially a certain red-headed nurse...
