A Secret to Hold Close Chapter Eight Jess and Mylie linked arms as they walked down the hall on their way to the waiting limo. More then a few of the fans had waited for even the smallest glimpse of McFly and the waiting girls shot the two sisters evil looks as they stepped through the �Private� door but Jess and Mylie didn�t pay any attention to them. Their happy chatter paused and Mylie shot her sister a worried look. Her normally talkative sister was frowning off into the distance, clearly lost in her own thoughts. Mylie stopped, which due to their linked arms caused Jess to stop quickly, and at her sister�s surprised look said determinedly, �Jess we are not moving from this spot until you tell what is the matter. And don�t say �nothing�! I know you well enough to know something is on your mind. So tell me or we aren�t moving an inch!� Jess took one look at her sister�s determined face and sighed, �It�s� It�s Tom� I mean� you know that I like to flirt but with Tom it was different� I was afraid that everything I was going to say would sound stupid and I didn�t want to look like the typical blond in front of him... but the thing is usually things like that don�t bother me! And I don�t know what that means� I don�t know if I like it or not� I�m just really messed up! And I know that I probably won�t see him again so I shouldn�t worry about it but I am!� Mylie smiled sympathetically and her thoughts jumped to Danny. �I know how you feel, I really do Sis� but to be realistic we will probably never see them again so don�t let it bother you that much.� Just as those words were out of her mouth she heard her own and Jess�s name being called. She turned around quickly and saw Danny and Tom running down the stairs. Her heart leapt to her throat as Danny reached the two shocked girls and gave her one of his classic grins. Tom was not far behind and he gazed shyly at Jess who�s face had a faint blush spreading across it. Danny spoke up, slightly out of breath, and said, �Hey� um, we were wondering� if you would want� to come�� Mylie grinned and laid a hand on his arm. �Slow down! Catch your breath and then tell what ever you wanted to say.� �No� I�m fine!� He took one deep breath and grinned and started again. �We were wondering if you were free the rest of the night. We have to go to this party thing and if you were free we wanted to see if you wanted to come along.� The two girls glanced at each other and Mylie silently asked her sister if she wanted to which her sister gave her the tiniest nods. Jess turned to Danny and smiled, a smile which Mylie noticed Tom ate up, �Sure we would love to! Can you give us a second to let our driver know our plans? We don�t want to keep him out all night to wait on us.� The two boys nodded and Mylie and Jess walked the last of the way down to the waiting limo and the leaned in to let James know about the change in plan. He smiled and said, �I knew you two would catch their attentions! Go have some fun but know that you can call my cell if you need me to come get you at any time, ok?� Mylie and Jess nodded and smiled their thanks. They walked back up to Danny and Tom who while they had been waiting for the girls had started to sign some of the fan�s stuff. They stood back while the boys said goodbye to the fans and then walked with the boys back into the arena. They went around and through a back door to where a tour van was waiting. The foursome climbed in and found Dougie and Harry sprawled out on the couches. Harry, not seeing who had come in with his two band mates said, �Where did you two mysteriously sneak off to?� Jess grinned and spoke up, �The came to invite us to this party that ya�ll are going to.� She giggled as Harry jumped. They sat around for a while until Fletch, the boys� manager, came in and said the limo to take them to the party was ready. The all climbed in and Mylie found herself between Danny and Dougie while Jess was once again between Tom and Harry. They whole time the atmosphere was light and fun and when they reached the party and climbed out the car they were stunned into speechlessness by the amount of press. Tom was the first to get his arm around Jess and Harry shot him a look before smiling for the photographers. Dougie stood next to Harry and Mylie found Danny at her side. She was a little intimidated by the press and was glad when Danny took her hand. The next instant she was even gladder for his stead grip as her ears roared and the world spinned. She closed her eyes as the dizziness shot through her. Danny must have felt her grip tighten on his hand because he looked at her confused. �Mylie? Are you ok? Jess? Something�s going on with Mylie.� She felt her sister take her other hand and start to guide her somewhere. She gratefully followed and when the dizziness finally passed she found that they had bypassed the rest of the press and had come inside. Her sister was pale with worry and Mylie could see the boys� worried faces hovering behind her. �Mylie, that�s it! We need to leave right now! That was the second time tonight! What if�� But Mylie cut her sister off before she could say anything about the leukemia. �I�m fine! I just need something to drink. Please� just water though.� Dougie hurried off and quickly returned with a glass of water. Mylie thanked him and sipped it. �Can you guys give us a second? I need to talk to my sister alone for a second.� The guys nodded and Mylie smiled at them gratefully. Once they were gone Mylie turned to her sister. �Jess, please, I promise I will go see that doctor tomorrow but let me have just this one night before I start the worry over if the leukemia is back. Please, just one night and then I will let myself get sucked back into the battle for my life, if that is what it turns out to be.� Jess glanced around, trying not to meet her sister�s pleading golden eyes but when she finally did she sighed and nodded weakly. �Alright Mylie, one night but the first thing we do in the morning is to go see this doctor and if he says go home we go home ok?� Mylie nodded and stood up. Jess started to help but Mylie shrugged it off. When she stepped out of the private room they had been sitting in she found the four McFly boys waiting outside. The rushed up and in a jumble all asked if she was ok. Mylie smiled and explained her dizziness as something that she got every once-in-a-while and that she was fine now, making sure to stay vague. Tom, Harry and Dougie seemed to accept the explanation but when her gold eyes turned to Danny he seemed dissatisfied somehow. The group started out to the main party room and when Mylie saw the excellent dance floor she said with a smile,�I think I want to go dance. Anybody want to come?� Danny grinned and took her hand, Mylie couldn�t control the extra beat her heart took at his touch, and as they stepped out onto the floor the song concluded. Mylie blushed and Danny grinned as the next song turned into a slow one. Danny pulled her closer and she grinned as she spent the whole song in his arms. At one point she saw her sister dancing close with Tom and both Harry and Dougie had found some other girl to dance with. As the song came to a stop Mylie pulled away reluctantly from Danny, sad that the song was done. Her golden gaze connected with Danny�s blue one and time seemed to freeze. She was certain he was about to kiss her and that was when she felt a tap on her shoulder� Back |
