A Secret to Hold Close Chapter Seven As the bartender got all the drinks ready Mylie wondered why in the world she had offered to help, she should have just stayed with her sister! She shot a glance over to check on her sister and found her totally recovered from her momentary pause, one that had clearly, at least to Mylie, been caused by Tom, and was flirting outrageously with the other three McFly members. When she heard a throat being cleared her golden eyes zoomed around and met Danny�s blue ones, a faint blush spreading across her face. �I�m sorry? What did you say?� Danny grinned and repeated what he had said with a nod towards the bartender. �You never said what you wanted to drink.� �Oh! I would just like a water please.� Danny looked puzzled and said, �You know the drinking age is different over here right? I mean you could have a drink if you wanted one.� A horrified expression shot over his face as he realized what he said, �I�m sorry! I mean, you don�t have to drink and it�s not like I�m trying to get you drunk or anything�� His stumbled stab at trying to apologize was halted as he realized Mylie was trying not to laugh right in his face. But when she took one look at his spreading blush she couldn�t hold it in anymore and burst out laughing which caused him to grin. When she finally got her laughter down to a giggle she explained, �Its fine Danny! I just can�t� I mean I just don�t drink.� �Oh.� She hoped he didn�t hear her correction between �can�t� and �don�t� and if he did he didn�t point it out. Ever since she started the fight with leukemia she had been forced to avoid the alcohol because of the medications and treatment she was prescribed but even now after making it to remission she was still on some medication that was helping her get back to normal and she didn�t want to take the chance that the medicine and the alcohol wouldn�t mix well. They carried the rest of the drinks to everyone else and then as a group they all found places to sit, although Dougie had to find one on the floor. Tom got one of the seats next to Jess with Harry on her other side, both vying for her beautiful sister�s attention. She was surprised when Danny didn�t try as well but sat next to her and they talked about everything from music to school. And then the question that she had been dreading came up. �So why are you and your sister here? I mean besides to see four very sexy guys play an awesome concert,� he said this with a playful grin, �what made you what to come to London?� Mylie didn�t know what Lisa had told them before she had brought them in so she answered vaguely, �Oh coming here was on my list of �Things To Do Before I Die� and this seemed like a perfect time to cross this one off. And I wanted to take a break before I started school in the fall.� Danny smiled but then a puzzled look took place on his face, �Sounds good� but wait, why did you wait this long to start college?� Mylie quickly tried to come up with an answer, �Ummm, I didn�t feel like I could really put forth the effort that I would need to be able to keep up and I just wanted to work out in the world for a while.� �Ah ok.� Mylie nearly sighed with relief as he took the lie without a question. If not telling him that you had leukemia is the right thing to do then why do I feel so bad about it? A small voice nagged her in the back of her mind but she shoved it aside. I�m not going to see him ever again after this so I should just enjoy it while I can� The rest of the evening went really well and by the time Lisa came to say it was time for the boys to leave there were no more awkward silences. Mylie and Jessica thanked McFly for coming to talk to them and then the boys were hustled out of the room. �That was amazing!� Mylie exclaimed and both of the sisters shared a look and started to giggle. �Well let�s see Jess. I�m pretty sure that Tom and Harry were both after you tonight!� Mylie said, trying to tease her sister. Jess shot Mylie a knowing grin and said, �It wasn�t just me that had a member of McFly wrapped around my finger. It seemed like Danny was really interested in you!� Jess laughed as Mylie blushed tried to think of anything to say back. The two sisters grabbed their coats and purses, called James to let him know they were coming out, and started out to the limo� Back |
