A Secret to Hold Close
Chapter Three

Mylie glanced at her parents questioningly but said, Come in, please.

Two people walked into Mylies room and each gave her a smile. All the adults shook hands but the older gentleman directed his smile and his words at Mylie, Hello Mylie, my name is Paul and this is Emily. We are from the Make-A-Wish Foundation and we were wondering if we could talk to you for a few minutes.

Mylie shot her parents a surprised look. She had read about the Make-A-Wish Foundation on the internet as she stumbled around looking at sites that had information about leukemia. Hi. Sure I would love to talk to you!

Her parents rose and said, Were just going to step outside and let you three talk in private. As soon as they had left the room, Paul and Emily took the two seats they had vacated by the bed.

Mylie we are here to talk to you about what we do because we would like to grant you your Wish. We felt you were a very special case. First of all when your whole high school signed a petition asking for you to be granted a Wish we felt that we could over look your age. Normally our age group is from 2 1/5 to 18 years of age but with your special circumstances as well as the dedication that people have towards you we felt that you deserved it. Paul explained.

Emily took over, When your doctor also said that you were eligible, no the word he used was she paused, Oh yes, entitled. We felt we should come and talk to you. That is the next step of our process. We sent two people, that would be us, to come and talk to you to find out what your dearest Wish is.

Mylies mouth gapped open, I I dont understand.

Emily smiled gently and patted Mylies hand. Its ok. Its a bit overwhelming isnt it? Mylie just nodded a dazed look in her eyes.

It only took a few minutes of talking to Paul and Emily to find out what Mylies dearest wish was. Emily looked over to Paul with a playful gleam in her eye, Ok Paul, we should be heading back now. We have taken up enough of Mylies time. She probably needs to rest now. Mylie didnt actually realize how tired she as until the older lady mentioned it and let out a huge jaw cracking yawn. See?

Paul just smiled, being the quieter of the two, Well leave you along to get some rest now. Thank you for talking with us.

Mylie gave him a genuine smile. I should be thanking you! Yall have given me a chance to have my wildest dream come true.

The older pair smiled and they each gave her a hug before heading out the door. Mylies parents talked to Paul and Emily for a few minutes before coming into their daughters room just in time to see her drop off into sleep with a happy smile on her face. They smiled at each other and slipped back out the room to sit in the hall, they didnt want to wake their daughter up with their words because she could use all the sleep that she could get.

Mrs. Larson turned to her husband, I never knew that Mylie wanted to go to England! Or that her deepest wish would be to just go to a concert! Have you ever heard of the band McFly?

Mylies father smiled, No I havent but if that is what she wants then Im not going to argue with it. Although I have a feeling that the Make-A-Wish Foundation is going to have a field day with our daughters wish and I bet, in the end, that Mylie is going to get more then she asked for.

Yes I wouldnt doubt it; they tend to go above and beyond with special cases like Mylies. I just hope that she can handle it health wise.

Mary I have a feeling that this is going to give Mylie something to look forward too when she is finally better.

Your right, your right. Im going to go back in for a little while, she looked so peaceful and content.

Her parents went back into her room and sat, with happy smiles on their faces, watching their precious daughter smile in her sleep
